Gianforte provides State of the State; Democrats, Freedom Caucus respond

Week two of Montana’s legislative session is underway, and that means Monday was time for the State of the State Address from Gov. Greg Gianforte -- his third since taking office.
Addressing a joint session of the Montana Legislature, Gianforte celebrated the successes of his first four years and laid out his vision for the future of Montana.
“We’ve made great strides together, but our work is far from over,” said Gianforte.
Top of mind for Gianforte is lowering taxes. He brought up multiple proposals, including lowering the income tax rate from 5.9% to 4.9%, expanding the earned income tax credit and creating a homestead exemption for primary residences.
