Median income in NSW is around the $50k mark, meaning the cheapest house is more than 11x half the populations gross income. Tell him he's dreamin!
Here for that $590k house you would get a pretty big house, in a good area, containing at least 3 bedrooms, 8000m2 property, pool, double garage, granny flat to let out already there, and still have change left over. For the $1.7 mill Dave has in his area you get the same, just 5 rooms minimum, all on suite, 1200m2 property, at least 4 car garage, flat ground, fully furnished or at least freshly renovated, and great sea views.

@@adityaacharya2329 Not in Australia, and look up Eastern Cape or Stellenbosch, and you will find those properties.
Connects Aus to NZ lol that one made me chuckle :)
When I'm browsing real estate for general price ranges, I usually look at the sold listings. More chance of getting an actual price that way.
Australia to New Zealand bridge, love it 😃
Wasn't that Boris Johnson's idea?
$600K gets you a kitchen that looks like a post-apocalyptical roach motel.
388 sqm block not massive.. thats a palace where I come from.
Hi Dave interesting video I'm curious if you ask yourself at the time you bought your home Dave what was your salary to value of your house ratio, and would it hold up adjusting for salary's today against that 590k house?
This free real estate video was the perfect length to watch while I've been cooking my bacon and egg sandwich
Just for comparison, I bought 370m2 two story house (built in 2007) on 1km2 land in Phoenix suburb in Arizona for 380k yankee bucks in 2018 (estimated $600k today). 50k liter pool, 3 car space attached garage, 7kW solar plant, 30 minutes drive to Phoenix CBD.
@@lachlanjohnson8019 Of course, but I just don't get it. Someone is willing to pay millions for crappy house just to live closer to the harbor. That's a big price for just to be able to swim twice a year in the ocean.
@@arthurvlog6259 A good point.
That kitchen appearing just as you said "schmick" gave me a giggle. Interesting stuff.
Compared to UK prices that's not so bad. The average price in Oxfordshire is about £480k which is ORO 900k. Much more in the city of course. However we do have the advantage of 24/7 grey skies and plentiful rainfall.
lol connects Sydney to New Zealand. nice one Dave. The post would be cheaper if that was the case.
Here the battleaxe is called a panhandle. Generally a property that has been subdivided, and the front typically is the older house, and the back used to be a large garden area.
Meanwhile in Brisbane somehow my property has gained 35k in 6 months. Some amazing hyper inflation going on right now.
And spend another $150k to make it liveable ....Crazy !
What's the difference between a real house, a villa, and a townhouse?
Fascinating video. Those prices are not that bad. Cheapest house in my german medium sized city is around 540.000 AUD.
Should check cheapest new build house, like first owner. That is where you get screwed over, those contractors only want to build big houses.
600k AUD is probably around the same price you would get for a decent house in Warsaw suburbs, I'd rather go Sidney for that price
Dave, 388 sq. meters is a small house in AUS.?
Thats 4,200 Sq. Feet!!. Here in the US thats a huge house.
A small house is 800 sq. ft or 75 sq. meters.
A nice sized 3 br house is around 1700 sq. ft. or 160 sq. meters.
Chinese will buy it now.!! Thanks Dave.
From Louis Rossmann Group - Real Estate to EEV Real Estate :p
TIL that even with 2 Msc degrees and 2 full-time incomes, while not mentioning study loan debt, my girlfriend and I could barely get a loan for the cheapest house in Sydney, let alone actually do some work on it. Yikes
The battleaxe, huh? Here in the US, I've only heard them called 'flag lots', as they are shaped like a flag and pole.
This probably isn't any different than Chicago Illinois here in the USA.
I can not see $600k ($439k US) for a ranch style house! Ridiculous; wow; better make some major bread!
Good grief. Glad I'm around Houston, TX. Probably that crazy in NY, Chicago, or Commiefornia but not here.
4:38 Estate agents still overstretching pictures?
that Wilmont house would have some stories for sure!... ex-houso!
Love that documentary!
I don't mind the battle axe, quite private.
Can be, yes.
That is around £320k which is about right i'd say.
What is the difference between a "townhouse" and a "house"?
A small narrow house with a tiny backyard, usually no front yard, right on the street edge. And right next to the house next door (like 1m away), or sometimes attached.
Dave's been watching way too many Louis Rossmann videos.
Correct about the bluies
Try to find the cheapest 3BR in Singapore and cry...
Most ozzy ‘houses’ seem to be single story (what we call a bungalow in the UK) - any reason for that?
More population, and so much less land. Australia is a continent, the UK is an island, but has a lot more people living there than Australia. Plenty of EU countries that are considered tiny, yet have more people living in them than Australia.
Bunch of reasons really. Cheap to build with no shortage of land. Local market doesn't want apartments usually freehold property. Everyone wants a backyard.
Australia is the size of the continental US.
@@EEVblog2 I get that. Just that the houses seem small and the gardens aren’t that big either. Only people that buy bungalows in the UK are the old because they don’t want stairs and cant cope with a large garden.
Is the ghetto in Sydney nicer than 80% of new York?
Yep!
_Laughs in Amsterdam_
I think your just judging too much in this vid
Sydney... Soon to be renamed New Beijing or The Glowing Outback. Good luck Australia. Don't drink the Kool-Aid.
Doesn't that title belong to your house 🤣🤣🤣🤣
