Here you can see the story of the fortress history. The museum opened in 1947 at Oscar-Fredriksborg fort and moved to Vaxholm Citadel in 1964.
HOW TO GET THERE:
Boat: You can go by boat from Stockholm to Vaxholm Citadel
Boat and water taxi: You can go by boat from Stockholm to Vaxholm, and then take a water taxi from Vaxholm to the citadel. The water taxi is quite expensive, but it's also a nice experience to ride a water taxi.
