I am confused by the analysis of TBSL. So, please correct me if I am wrong but doesn't the song start off with Harry asking his lover to not blame him for... 1. falling b/c he was a little boy 2. a drunk call b/c he wasn't ready for it all ( and by "all" I am assuming the weight of the conversation) Then he refers to his lover as darling (which sounds like a term of endearment to me and not from a position of frustration) and telling them to not blame him even a little bit b/c he's an arrogant SOB who can't admit when he's sorry. This song sounds like an apology to his lover, in my opinion. It comes across, to me, like he concedes to his lovers wishes to no longer wanting to call Harry their "baby" because this person wants to/is only trying to be friends (at this point) for certain reasons, that are unknown/or not revealed to us, to which Harry also acknowledges that he knows this person's request is genuine, but it's hard for Harry to be lonely. It sounds to me like Harry wishes his lover would continue calling him "baby" while also letting him know he's lonely without this person. So, I guess if we want to assume these lyrics are catch and release then this specific song ,in my opinion, would match up with Rear View where Zayn is specifically telling someone that he knows they are hurting (telling us in great detail) but can only be there as a friend. Zayn also addresses the fact that he is not coming "home" (which is a running theme in their lyrics) and furthermore that he WANTS to love this person but CAN'T( for reason we aren't privy to and Harry confirms this in his lyrics in TBSL).🤷 ***the caps are meant to emphasis certain words and not yelling 😊*** Would love to hear your thought about this. ❤️
This is just so precise! You're totally right, and yes this song does seems like an apology, but H says he was just a lil boy so..... We all make mistakes , and yeah , the being 'friends' thing , it really breaks me , cause for Z to even offer being friends with H really gets me, as they both know its not possible 💔

It gets pretty complicated. Young love can be brutal especially when trying to learn how to properly navigate intense emotions -- like love (heck even adults still have issues with this). Think about the lyrics in Good Years... "now the whole damn world will know that we were young and just too dumb to change the story. Neither one...of us wants to say we're sorry! 😐" Then it goes on to say how Zayn would rather be anywhere but there. The boys all talked about how Zayn wore his heart on his sleeve, that he was very compassionate (which is evident by the video footage of him with the other boys, but especially with Harry). You often see the compassion in his eyes. It's so intense -- we actually feel it. The assessment of their lyrics only pull on certain versus from certain songs to support certain theories which, I think, only revolve around the personal views of the contributor for that content and those that enjoy it. For example, TBSL lyrical analysis always baffled me b/c of the lyrics in the beginning of the song and other parts through out that seemed, in my opinion, to give off a very different meaning. So, it never really settled well with me regarding the interpretation/analysis of that song and made me question the motives of certain content put out there and its purpose. So, I am not quick to assume that the reason for them not communicating is solely about Zayn's unwillingness to "coming out."
