    One of my students brought me this pedal after a SKIPKNOT show where he chatted with the Mighty Mick Thompson who uses this and recommends this pedal and I love it
    Best demo vid..
    Good job bro

    Well it happened again ... I watched a Kyle Bull video and now I own a new pedal lol.
    Great demo/video, thanks!
    Since it doesn't cut the lows so much, this pedal is good for boosting distortion pedals (into front of clean amp).
    In my experience, distortion pedals are generally just a tad bit little thinner sounding than actual amp distortion. IMO.
    👍

    Solid video man. One thing I would suggest for future videos is including some 7 string or just lower tuned stuff. I've tend to have found tones that work in standard or around there don't always work the lower you go. Just something to consider. Keep up the good work. Your reviews are really no nonsense and to the point and I appreciate that

      Thanks man! Really appreciate it. I'm going to start incorporating some drop C riffs in my upcoming videos for this purpose, but most will remain E Standard

      Come on brah let our man live every other TH-camr does 7 string down tuned djent let this man be the unique thrash/hardcore lord he was born to be lmao

      @barrygomez5968 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will say there was one vid awhile ago and he pulled out the 7 string and that was pretty cool! If you were looking to cover a wide spectrum of tunings that would appeal to a general "wheelhouse" of metal players (if it were me) i 'd do standard, drop C then either b standard on 7 or drop A on 7😈😈

      Hardcore always sounds more hardcore in drop tuning! As for thrash and crossover thrash that typically falls into standard tuning & half step down!

    Have you tried the Palisades by Earthquaker? It's supposed to have the capability of the Plumes, Dunes, etc built into it. Where the Plumes has 3 "voices" the Palisades has 6, as well as 5 different bandwidth options which affect the tightness/gain/low mid cut. It has an alternate boost, a bright switch etc. You should give one a try if you haven't already.

    I love plumes! But naturally I had a more aggressive version (Plush Box) made with modified output signal and similar knobs but, they achieve more creamy mids and top end bite in the EQ spectrum. Gotta love being a Tone Freak! Lol great video KB!

    Really enjoy this pedal for its tweakability above and beyond the TS808/tube screamer style pedals.Seem to use it mostly in the open middle toggle setting, but use different toggle/gain settings for different amps. Tend to still gravitate toward the Tubescreamer for its simplicity. Surprised this pedal is 99$. I really dig Earthquaker pedals, probably have 9-10 different ones.

      @@belligerentamateur Totally agree. I’m in Ky, so their Ohio pedal center isn’t that far. We have similar taste, amount, and types of amps/cabs just different styles of music. Keep rocking on and building ur channel.

    I basically quit using my 808 once I got the plumes. I sometimes use the 808 for Les Paul’s, due to to the low end…but everything else I like the Plumes

    Tube Screamers have SYMMETRICAL clipping. SD-1 has ASYMMETRICAL clipping.
    I think what Mode 3 has in common with Tube Screamers is not the clipping asymmetry but instead is the choice of Silicon Diodes for clipping vs the LED clipping in Mode 1.

    I own and love the Plumes, but IMO the emphasis put on it being a TS is possibly a marketing blunder. It has a freakish amount of output and note clarity which makes its a killer lead boost. I think the bright/ gritty character adds some interesting complexity to my high gain tone, and lots of bark and bite as a clean boost. It doesnt really do the tight metal boost thing though, and it doesnt do the SRV/Mayer thing either... basically the two things people expect a from a TS.

      It's a 91! Cool pedal, for sure. Great options, just wish there was an option to cut the lows a bit more.

  • @LoudFlashmedia

    Been using my OD 808 for years with my Engl Powerball but then got a Stealth 50 watt. I tried a different option with the Plumes. Needless to say i think the Plumes is better and more low end. The OD808 was just too dry and the tone knob is completely useless. So many options with this Plumes....! I think its a keeper.

      @rubenalonsoviguerassalazar1539 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you compared plumes with 808x? The 808 normal cut a lot of bass. Plumes keep low end?

    • @LoudFlashmedia
      @LoudFlashmedia 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rubenalonsoviguerassalazar1539 BAh, thats a bunch of bunk. No it doesnt cut alot of bass.....I went back and forth with Plumes to 808 and no difference with bass....so many sales jobs going on here. Buy them both and take one back is all i can say. Plumes was just not for me.......808 is way better to me.

    Gain should be off and level knob should match the clock setting that your amp is dialed to. ie amps gain is set at 1 o clock the level on your od/ts pedal should be at 1 o clock. Itd be nice to see other than diming a knob which only really works for older low gain amps.

    • @belligerentamateur

      Sorry dude, but running an overdrive the way you like to run it is not the only way. There are no "rules" to this. I just didn't like this particular overdrive.

      I just got a Plumes Dec. 2021 and the light isn't overly bright. I know the overly bright ones, as I have a Rockboard diffuser on my EQD Grand Orbiter, which is eye piercing. The Plumes is a nice properly luminated yellow LED now though.
