The template looks very similar to One Piece TCG. And while I do think it looks like shit, OP TCG has been selling like hot cake for the last 2 years so who knows?
They most definitely are. The Viktor card doesn’t even use the VGU splash and if they were shipping these cards as is, you would think they’d update that especially marketing the Arcane stuff. I’m hoping they put out an update video early 2025 where we can see a more finalized version of what we can expect a card to look like
"5 minutes in photoshop" - As a graphic artist that uses photoshop regularly, I can tell you that alternate interpretation was not a "five minute" design unless it was made with AI (and I'm not sure why that would be preferable here). Furthermore, I might be in the minority, but I think Riot did a really solid job designing their frames for this upcoming TCG and I don't agree that this fan design is better. It isn't a bad reinterpretation, but it lacks polish and is breaking some fundamental rules of graphic design (The "unforgiven" text is pushing right up against the bottom of the illustration, the circles that contain the symbols are unnecessarily large, the frame border is WAY too thin to get printed consistently, etc..) I also really like the simplicity of the card back design Riot has shared. I think it shows a lot of awareness for what is currently trending in the genre. My guess is Riot is planning to infiltrate the asian TCG market which is why their frames more closely resemble something like One Piece or Digimon. One thing to consider about the current TCG market is how far it has evolved in the past five years. The trends that were popular in 2010 are no longer popular now and in order for a game to reach a mass audience, it needs to feel approachable. Clarity is SEVERELY underrated in graphic design for gaming and these designs are very clear.
Also I think that ppl missunderstand the importance of having the two main colors of the card stand out that much. You need to tell at a glance that the card you have in front of you has blue and yellow colors to not slow players down looking for a small icon in the corner. But I DO NOT think the blend between the two colors looks good at all anyway.
Just because you're unable to throw something together in 5 minutes doesn't mean others cannot lol. I've been using Photoshop since 2009 and with all of the files pre-downloaded and how poorly edited everything was I can assure you it was in fact a 5 minute job lol.
@@TCGNews I respectfully disagree. You're qualifying this with "all of the files pre-downloaded" so, again not a five minute job. I can make anything "five minutes" if I have infinite time to prep everything. The prep time and research are part of the process. Furthermore, until you live stream it for everyone to see, I absolutely do not believe that you could throw a superior image together in five minutes with zero prep. Finally, your response isn't the best way to respond to someone who could potentially subscribe to your channel. It actually makes me want to actively avoid your channel and encourage others to do the same considering I've been putting card frames together in photoshop for well over a decade, am familiar with the process of taking them from digital to print, and I actually do know what I am talking about.
@@TCGNews Weird, just spent FIVE minutes looking at a ton of League of Legends UI and I am not seeing any of these EXACT assets anywhere. What I am seeing is assets closely modeled after the UI from LOL but not executed exactly the same (the circles). Even in the instances in which the assets might be directly lifted from the LOL UI (The frame and corner embellishments), they would have to be manipulated in some way prior to being put into this frame design (Unless they were all prepared PNG files - which I ALSO looked through, ALSO took more than five minutes, also STILL need manipulation in order to fit this design, and I STILL couldn't find the exact assets that match those in this mockup). What you are claiming just simply is NOT true. Could it have taken 30 min? Sure, I'd buy that. 5 min? Absolutely not without AI assistance. It took me five minutes just to FIND the specific instances of UI similarities. That alone proves my point.
With all the backlash they've received, I can't imagine that the tcg will be shit. They deliver everytime and I'm confident that we haven't seen the endproduct.
Yeah, I'm truly hoping they realize and Riot steps in and shuts down the design. It doesn't matter how good the card game is, if the game doesn't look good people aren't going to want to invest in it. I'll be keeping coverage on this in the future as well :)
Glad im not going crazy
I thought I was the only one who thought they looked like shit
plus, it's a kick in the balls for LoR
so buns

@@stephenschaffenberger6765 My guy, they're the image files from league of legends rofl. They are LITERALLY the UI for the game XD it was 5 minutes

I'm pretty sure the layout it's been changed already, I saw a video a couple of days ago showing blue border cards.

this game looks like something that will get discontionued a year, max two after it releases
Yeah the design of the cards is very mid. And that’s disappointing to hear it’s not even original artwork
ill take the card backs, just change the art and card front
9 minutes of crying shit for nothing
0 info about mechanics
0 info about monitisation
just waste my time
I mean, tbf, riot hasn't given us any info on mechanics or monetization, so hard to make a video including that.
@@WarcasteTCGcame to say the same thing 🤣 you can't cover what they haven't released yet. Also, I'm fairly sure *rant* is in the title
Ratioed
@@TCGNews your design is not good either bro
On the bright side, this means I get to save my money! :D
Looks good enough for Digimon
Pure trash. As expected from Riot.
Is it not incredibly clear that's place holder art? I thought that was incredibly clear.
Digimon art has raised the pedal stool putting everyone on check
