After playing this, I am theorizing that those places wasn't alternative timelines.... I think this is her mental state. I think Kuro took inspiration from the Killing Joke, where Joker can't remember his past, but knows he went insane after a bad day. I think this quote from Joker went "What made you what you are? Girlfriend killed by the mob, maybe? Brother carved up by some mugger? Something like that, I bet. Something like that... Something like that happened to me, you know. I... I'm not exactly sure what it was. Sometimes I remember it one way, sometimes another... If I'm going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice!" I think those are multiple ideas of how they met, even when Beatrice claimed that they found an idea where she went, but I believe Camellya was around there, not the correct memory. I think this is more or less a lesson of how people who suffer mental illness and memory loss goes through, and they would rather forget about the past as it is painful for some than remember. That is my two cents on the whole quest, which I like.
