3:09 I'm your prototypical American Multi-Sports Fan. Granted that usually the DJs and the music are better, but this is basically what shitty "piped in" atmosphere is like at most of our sporting events. Crowds get into the actual sport itself, of course, but (especially at basketball games, and increasingly at hockey and american football games) at the end of the day, so much of the atmosphere just comes from some DJ and a crew of lighting people.
The late John Berylson epitomised the perfect chairman. Millwall supporters are not shy voicing their opinion but there isn't anyone who has ever said a bad word about him. As can be American custom he wanted to maintain family involvement after his demise and put his son on the board to take control of both the club and the provisions he put in place to safeguard our future. What a gentleman. If all football clubs had custodians (and foreign investors) like John and the Berylson family British football would be in a much better place. RIP John. Respect. Commiserations to the Sheffield Wednesday fans and all fans with their clubs in a similar positon.
I'm a Plymouth fan, and we almost lost our club in 2010 due to parasite owners who were only interested in our stadium for the England World Cup host bids. Fortunately we have amazing owners now who are building the clubs infrastructure up and making sure we're running as sustainably as possible. I really feel for Wednesday fans, and the EFL are to blame for letting this happen in the first place.
Didn't realise how bad things really at Sheffield Wed - sorry to the fans what they are going through as a football fan myself I hope one day your club finds a way to rebuild and have a better owner in future ⚽️
As an American who has followed English football since the mid-70s, it's a shame to see these clubs fall so far. Sheffield's music scene is always on point though.
Liked the way you put your video together Im a lifelong Sunderland fan , but i was as pleased as any Owls fan at your first win , we have all been there at some point , wish you and the club well , hope you manage to overcome the obstacles in your path !
As a Doncaster Rovers supporter, I gave this a like simply for the last 15 seconds of the video. We've been there (25 years ago), and nearly died. Football clubs are much more than a business.
I’m an owl but been to Donny games as a neutral a few time mainly cause i work near the ground so go with mates who support rovers sometimes its depressing af and sometimes a great buzz great atmosphere
This was super informative and I really respect the time and effort taken to get an understanding of a club at base level with the fans. Hope it was a fun to make as it was to watch! Keep up the great work
I love this club since last season even though I'm French. I seen the play-off games last season : instantly loved the crowd, the stadium and this amazing owl logo. Always asked myself since kid what was my favorite English club and I found my answer watching the owls.
As an Oldham Ahtletic fan for the last 20 or so years (I'm 27), I'll never laugh at a club in any form of ownership or financial trouble. I've seen it all in the last 20 years, the slow, steady decline of the club I love, and it's heartbreaking. Wouldn't even wish it on Rochdale... probably. Joking aside though, it always sucks to see a team being ran into the ground by bad owners or management. We're out of it it seems now ( 7:50, the protest against the Lemsagams at Boundary Park back in 2022), but I can only hope other clubs manage to find a way out too. For the fans, and for the history of each club.
I’d never laugh at the strife endured by real fans. Thank for the video, it’s great to share the journey with you for a few minutes, and it offers a little perspective on the depressing run my QPR have been on. Always, top respect to real fans 👍
as a Cardiff fan in a similar situation the past couple years, owners can really hit the fans and the club where it hurts, Wednesday are a great club and they will be fine give it a couple years, and really hope they stay up this season, as they have done well enough to get here, and I wish them luck for the rest of the season!
The football league should have stricter rules about ownership. People like Chansiri, who by his own admission does care much for football, should never be allowed to buy a club.
Let me tell you as a Sunderland AFC fan who watched his team clattered down from Premier to League 1 in 2 years and then basically take ages to escape. Owners being what they are can be a saviour or a nightmare... mostly the second.
As an American I have learned to love Football, but I am sad that I don't get to experience the culture, the closest thing we have is probably College Football, I love my Tennessee Vols
As a Hull fan I can tell you, our recent takeover has injected new life into the club. All I can hope is that Sheffield Wednesday find someone more than capable of running a club and can inject that same life back into Wednesday as Acun has done for us.
Nieve, you are EVERYTHING that modern football needs!! Your enormous heart and love for the game and people shows through in every video. I wish I could go to England and hound MOTD and other football/sports networks and sing your praises until they hired you. Your channel should be mandatory viewing for every football fan. I adore you to pieces!! Youre absolutely brilliant! ❤❤❤❤❤
You are also a genius in your storytelling and your editing. The moment at 3:22 when you feel the pain of the supporters in your eyes had me 😢, I truly felt that. That fact you have so much caring for people (people have stopped caring and have become mindless zombies here in the states for the most part) and for football is so wonderful, it would take me a long time to express how wonderful it truly is. Thats whats the human process is and we've lost that in sports and it's so wonderful you bring that back in your videos. Your videos restore my faith in humanity. If there were more people like you in this world, we'd be in a so much better place. You're truly amazing, and what you're doing is amazing and you're such an inspiration to young women everywhere that want to be CCs or get involved with football in general. You are truly a magical human!
As an avid Argyle supporter, I’ve seen some great games against Wednesday. I really wanted them to do well this year. Great club, Great fans. Go take your club back. 💚🏴

Well done, Nieve. Wednesday are Yorkshire's longest serving top flight club, with the most trophies, yet haven't graced the upper echelon for 25 years. Thr Chairman's comments this week have not been supportive all and I do pray sincerely that he will sell. Danny Roehl and his staff have already made some changes following the ills of Muñoz's tenure. Thank you again and best wishes to you, Nieve, to Bolton Wanderers and all fans. 🙏 X ps next time, please use The Owls' current badge. Ta!! ☺
Really great video. I didnt know what a mess Sheff Weds are in. I still miss them being in the top flight. I think they are a really attractive club as an investment. Someone will realise that soon.
This kind of owners is the reason why Im so happy to be a supporter of a german club. The 50+1 rule prevents this kind of bs from ever happening. Of course a club can still be mismanaged, go into admission or possibly stop existing after all, but as a supporter you re not at the mercy of a single person and their willingness to run the club. This also means the clubs need to be profitable, if not they are gonna get into trouble real quick, because there is nobody to bail out the club. Therefore its unlikely that the big stars of the game are going to play in germany, maybe at Bayern Munich, because there are no stupid sums of money involved. And Im fine with that. I rather have a healthy club which I know will most likely still be around in a hundred years then depend on a single person.
another point is you talk about sustainability and profitability, however you need to understand no English football fans would want the German sustainability rules because they are desperate to try anything to reach the Premier League. Almost every Sheff Wed fan (and fans of all English clubs) demand that their clubs show ambition and try to buy the best players, the clubs receive massive criticism if other clubs outbid them by offering massive salaries, so English clubs find themselves under pressure to pay big salaries. Some fans of think the best plan for their club is to gamble buying the best players, build up debts of, say £100 million, then go into administration and have your debts cleared. Then gamble again buying the best players, building up debts to £100 million, then go into admin and have the debts cleared again. Keep doing this until you're promoted, however stricter FFP rules were brought in to try and prevent clubs from doing this.
Sheffield Wednesday season ticket prices are actually so disgusting and that’s saying something Cus all of English football teams have terrible ticket prices
Sheffield Wed fans were brilliant when they played Swansea, both of us winless at the time they brought 2000 down, and we had a great back and forth. "How sh** must you be? It's only 0-0" 🤣 Loved it!
West Brom fan here. I travel all over following my team and am doing the 92 watching some games as a neutral. Sheff W and Sheff U are both up there in terms of their fans and the atmosphere generated. I feel your pain, personally suffering our own current useless owners and no funds but we have a great coaching team led by King Carlos. My ST (on the half-way line) costs £459.00. Best of luck for the rest of the season.
Working in Derby, I can only hope that Wednesday don't beat the glorious record set by the club from this city. It's the only thing Derby's got to be proud of.
Blade here, I wish Wedensday all the best, they have a great history but like us have been in the doldrums, I'm only partisan when it cones to the derbys, Sheffield is a fotball City and we need both to be doing well, I hope we can help each other tp succeed instead of continually being against each other, this City needs two successful clubs full stop.
Just angers me when I hear stories about owners like this. To them the club is just a toy to show off to their friends, for so many others it's a way of life.
As a Bristol Rovers fan we have had our ups and downs but id hate to have an owners like Sheff Wednesday. A club that in respect is a great club and deserve so much more' especially all those Owls supporters
As an Exeter City supporter living in America, I felt your pain years ago. Stay loyal, this too shall pass. I'm sorry that it'll seem like forever, but with that sort of loyalty you'll be golden. I admire that in fans.
Everton fan here. Sorry to hear about your woes. Sounds like your owner is as bad as our owner Moshiri, but he's on his way out (hopefully). Hope you can turn things around, the Owls have a rich history.
4:54 Neive you said if ive never been to Sheff wed game I'd think their absolutely brilliant. Guess what I've never been to a Sheff wed game and I think their absolutely brilliant. 😂👏
If there's one thing I'm not doing, it's laughing at Wednesday. I went to university in Sheffield and I kind of adopted them as my "home from home" club. It wasn't much of a choice, given that I'm also from a two club city, because the only other option were a team that play in red and are called United. Sorry, Blades fans, but you had no chance with this Manc. Anyway, I've often heard Leeds fans giving it large about being a massive club, and yet Wednesday are by far the most successful club in Yorkshire, so seeing them suffering in the doldrums like this is just depressing. Every bit as depressing as watching Bury go into administration or seeing Oldham in absolute tatters.
Sheffield United have had bigger crowds in recent years, just check the stats. Sheff Utd averaged 28,746 last season in a ground where capacity was reduced by the council to 30K with only 2K away fans. Sheff Wed have only beat that average attendance once in the last 53 years (with 29K average in 1992) and the last time Sheff Wed beat that level of support whilst outside the top flight was in 1952, that's 71 years ago. Averaging 22K to 25K is support to be proud of but it's not exactly huge by today's standards, the loyalty and away support is excellent tho. Altho Wednesday fans have seem much better times, cup finals, playoff wins than the Sheff Utd fans over the decades.
If I recall in the late 1990s or 2000, Sheffield Wednesday was in the EPL and United was in the next tier (I forget if it was called the Championship or First Division at that time), and on one occasion I think they were both close to being in the Premiership at the same time. That seems so, so long ago.
Ahhh, football is so lucky to have you. Thank you for standing against this shameful behavior and for lending a bit of support to the Wednesday faithful. I may have shown Wednesday one or two of my favourite fingers last year after we (ITFC) pipped them to automatic promotion, but this is some next level bullshit. Well done, N. I don't like leaving serious comments. I'll try to be hilarious again next week. 😉

Greetings from the USA. Different sport, but I’m a fan of the Oakland A’s of MLB. We too have been treated like hot garbage by ownership. Trading all of our top players for B-grade prospects and then having us being blamed for not “properly supporting our club.” I hope that Sheffield Wednesday fans can force a sale to ownership that wants to put a competitive product on the pitch before you end up several levels away from the top flight.
As a Coventry fan I know that feeling, though we have turned the corner a bit as of late, the last 23 years have mostly been pretty miserable. Things have recently gotten better though, the club is solvent again and we have a decent side that on their day can beat any team in the division.
Try to just keep that great Admiral 70s kit (especially the brown away kit) in your mind and a smile won't be far away...oh and Keith Houchen's diving header too 🤗
Brilliant video again StuntPegg ! Not discussed are that Sheffield and Rotherham are just down the road and sister clubs in SOUTH YORKSHIRE. I worked there as a Miner, I would like BOTH to come up ! I love South Yorkshire people !
Solid content. I much prefer this to a moaning Goldbridge slagging off folks with different opinions. Having said that, Manure have to be the second most depressing team in the UK, innit?
These are the type of videos I love. As a Wigan Athletic fan I know a thing or three about terrible owners. Just like Wednesday, we've been utterly destroyed twice by terrible owners. These sort of owners need more attention brought on them. Absolute disgrace, honestly.
Nieve's face whilst listening to the piped in chants through the speakers was priceless 😂 Just a shame she wasn’t there for a night match to witness the Elton John, candle in the wind style light show 😂
It’s like going to the dentist, you know you have to even in the rain, you know you are going to face pain and you know you are going to be ripped off when you can’t afford it.
Never going to forget how much I felt sad when Carlos Carvalhal missed the promotion with Wednesday. That game v. Hull…Till this day, it’s the club I like the most aside from Braga, my club and also Carlos (a fan favourite coach of all time here) club. A truly wonderful club that deserves nothing more than the best! Wawaw! 🇵🇹
You are the perfect woman. My girls have never understand the passion... Its why I am single and now in America where even less people understand the passion 😫
Yeah, don't take that too seriously. There are a few deluded Owls who actually believe it. For the rest of us the 'massive' tag is all very tongue-in-cheek. The fact it winds up some of our neighbouring teams is a bit of a bonus though. 🙂
Massive: started as a joke to wind up united fans (can u imagine being 2nd best to that lot, as we were at that time). that other fans have picked up on it and think we are serious is just an amusing bonus. WAWAW
Chansiri has totally alienated himself from the supporters. He is arrogant and stubborn, it’s his way or no way irrespective of what everyone else thinks. The once glorious stadium is now looking very tired with no improvements planned.

Your timing on "they're just really bad at it" then the Arctic Monkeys coming in was sublime!
My favourite comment! I appreciate your appreciation
@@stuntpeggnieve Thank you.
If you ever make your way to Glossop North End then give us a shout.
That's why clubs should never sell more than 49%
Didn't realise how bad things really at Sheffield Wed - sorry to the fans what they are going through as a football fan myself I hope one day your club finds a way to rebuild and have a better owner in future ⚽️
As an American who has followed English football since the mid-70s, it's a shame to see these clubs fall so far. Sheffield's music scene is always on point though.
To be fair, they are both in a higher division than they were last season.
Maybe The Human League can release a fundraising single.
@@timphillips-gv2du might do a bit more sales with Arctic Monkeys.
Liked the way you put your video together
Im a lifelong Sunderland fan , but i was as pleased as any Owls fan at your first win , we have all been there at some point , wish you and the club well , hope you manage to overcome the obstacles in your path !
Keep up the great work
I don’t know much about soccer but you can tell this woman genuinely loves it. That’s fun to watch. Learning lots.
As a Coventry City fan it hurts to see Sheffield Wednesday go through this. We had years and years of pain and the EFL did absolutely nothing.
I love this club since last season even though I'm French. I seen the play-off games last season : instantly loved the crowd, the stadium and this amazing owl logo. Always asked myself since kid what was my favorite English club and I found my answer watching the owls.
Oui, All Wednesday Aren't We
As a Reading fan I have to respectfully disagree that this is currently the most depressing football club in England
Loved the bit about waving and saying goodbye and “favourite fingers”. Hilarious 😂😂😂
The fans deserve so much better. They were amazing when we played them at the 2016 play off final. They still lost though…
So they're amazing, win or lose? Hull tho..;)
@@adriandenton6637guilty!
As a Pompey fan, I've known for too many years now, that the EFL is absolutely not fit for purpose.
As a Hull fan I can tell you, our recent takeover has injected new life into the club. All I can hope is that Sheffield Wednesday find someone more than capable of running a club and can inject that same life back into Wednesday as Acun has done for us.
Acun* even?
sorry?@@Gastradamus
Supporting a football club is like riding a roller coaster. You have your ups and downs. Come back in 5 years and it'll be another couple of teams.
💚🏴
When you said it's actually Cafu, I did a double take thinking it was the 2002 Brazilian world champion, thought he suddenly unretired at 50 in England😂
Entertaining as always, I look forward to your updates
Where have you been all my life..., since I found you about a month ago, i've absolutely loved every video i've watched. Your knowledge and quaint and funny way of presenting it is so refreshing. Thanks for all your work, i'm loving it!
Saw you on the plane today. Have a lovely holiday and keep up the fantastic content!
Let's face it, Sheffield is located in South Yorkshire - one of the most depressing areas of the UK, alongside Lancashire.
I have just found this channel. I love it. It reminds me of my jumpers for goalposts working class youth .
As a Pompey fan, I know what it's like to put up with terrible owners. I hope that Wednesday come back stronger.
Ugh, I really feel for those fans. Admire them sticking with their club through thick and thin, though. Here's hoping they get rid of Chansiri soon.
Incredible video. Great writing , performance, and audio quality
Just to say a BIG THANK YOU for the videos you do alot goes into one of these
4:54 Neive you said if ive never been to Sheff wed game I'd think their absolutely brilliant. Guess what I've never been to a Sheff wed game and I think their absolutely brilliant. 😂👏
🤣🤣🤣
New stuntpegg, let’s go!
You're so pretty and your videos are really informative keep churning them out 😊!
They still are a massive club, huge gates and crowds
@sheffsteel7 Averages across the years...Wednesday 21.5k, United 19k, so not much in it.
If I recall in the late 1990s or 2000, Sheffield Wednesday was in the EPL and United was in the next tier (I forget if it was called the Championship or First Division at that time), and on one occasion I think they were both close to being in the Premiership at the same time. That seems so, so long ago.
Thank you for bringing attention to the rot at the core of club ownership.
The fans are there still. I respect that so much. maybe one day Sheffield Wednesday vs CF Montréal!!
from Malaysia here.. just stumbled upon your videos.. really enjoy it.. what i adore is the fans enthusiasm to support their team... the stadium was full house..even in Malaysia, top 4 first division club also does not have this much crowd.. also you are quite beautiful.. cantik..hahahaha
Greetings from the USA. Different sport, but I’m a fan of the Oakland A’s of MLB. We too have been treated like hot garbage by ownership. Trading all of our top players for B-grade prospects and then having us being blamed for not “properly supporting our club.”
I hope that Sheffield Wednesday fans can force a sale to ownership that wants to put a competitive product on the pitch before you end up several levels away from the top flight.
Another A’s fan. Incredible!
F*ck Fisher and F*ck Kaval
It depends. Sheffield United and Rotherham get on and are friends. Rotherham and Wednesday don't really get on.
@@Martin-88 I didn't really understand Marra. Just love South Yorkshire !
@@Martin-88we dont get on with most south yorkshire clubs to be honest, 😂
What a privilege it must have been for you to see Cafu in real life... 😉🇧🇷
Iam mexican living in Sheffield, your video is really helpfull to understand football culture in the uk.... many thanks
Its damnable that a club like Wednesday have to endure such a plank as thier chairman

You are the perfect woman. My girls have never understand the passion... Its why I am single and now in America where even less people understand the passion 😫
Trouble with Sheffield Wednesday and their supporters is they think and call themselves MASSIVE.
WAWAW
Sheffield Wednesday need a new owner, I’m an Ipswich town fan and ever since gamechanger took over, we have been great.
look further down the pyramis and Sheffield FC (The World's First Football Club) are bottom of their league but have managed to win a game.
Chansiri has totally alienated himself from the supporters. He is arrogant and stubborn, it’s his way or no way irrespective of what everyone else thinks. The once glorious stadium is now looking very tired with no improvements planned.
It's his private property, he does what he wants and you don't have to meddle.
