Royal Enfield is doing great and coming with great motorcycles and establishing new milestones. Himalayan 450 in liquid cooled engine is good enough. As a employee in RE I really want a 650 cc bike in liquid cooled engine and a adventure bike something around 900cc that will create history in indian motorcycle community.
I somehow feel this I'd just s rumour. Himalayan 650 would not add too much to the power figures already present in 450. The engine would have to be completely revisited to increase the power and torque figures that would incite people to shell out more money over 450. And the weight... adventure riding cannot be dun.with a bike that weighs more than 250 kgs. That means a complete overhaul of the xhassis frame which would be lighter as well as strong.The Himalayan 650 project seems not a very economic viable decision even if it truly come out.
what type of bike is a Himalayan? If it’s a adventure touring motorcycle then 650 will be too heavy. Royal Enfield knows that too that’s why they put an 450 engine on Himalayan. But if they make a sports touring motorcycle then definitely i will consider.
The 650 won’t even give much better hp and torque, bro. If it’s coming from the intercepter, the bear 650 has 46bhp and 56nm torque vs 40bph and 40nm of the 450. Plus the extra weight gain from frame stability, suspensions, and engine might yield a slower 0-100km or 0-60mph. They’d have to bump the hp and torque of the 650 to make it viable for me. The 450 is an already awesome platform with great features. The only thing it lacks is more speed. I’d say do a bigger bore on the existing Sherpa 450 engine with cams and such, bringing it up to 500 or 550 would be better. Save on weight and time

heavier . sure but if they are doing what they did to the bear and get the same torque and horse power. it will actually be a bit more power then the 450. so it will be a plus. if they did put more money down onto a bigger engine like an 850 well it will always be a bulkier bike. the size and weight growth is happening regardless. counter point is if they got the bear to be a bit lighter then i believe they could at least keep the weight to a minimum growth. but this is wishing and wanting from America. i will love it if it's the 650 twin.
This bike will only make sense if they can bring this bike to weigh just as much as the new bear 650. And I guess power isn't increasing either as they might be targeting the A2 segment in foreign markets. So a 250 kilo Adv bike with 47 bhp simply doesn't make sense. They also need to make the bike tall ( having long travel suspension and good ground Clearance) and also keep the centre of gravity close to the ground so that the bike doesn't feel top heavy as the Himalayan 450. Comparing this to bigger bikes won't make sense because First thing, they have so much power and torque to overcome that weight, also their R&D is so top notch that once you start going, you don't even feel the weight ( doesn't feel top heavy at all )
Hi Bro, Himalayan 650 cannot be practical in Indian market, 230 kgs kerb weight min so it's difficult for indian avg height buddies to manage 230 plus heavy weight machine..

It is going to be 800-850 cc. That explains the dual disc. People in the uk have already been able to rebore the interceptor to 895 cc
