Thank you! I also am grateful you turned on the closed captions because I’m deaf & depend on CC. I’m 2 months post surgery on my foot and the boot caused my ankle to be so stiff, I want to get that mobility back. I found your video today so I’m gonna start doing those 5 exercises now :)

I got 2 months already with my boots, and it so scare for me to walk without boots. What is the best exercise for me to do it without fear. Thank you for your advice.

I had on a cast and stirrup for a foot fracture, and boy did it ever leave my foot, ankle and lower leg extremely stiff, inflamed, and excruciatingly painful. I just wish the ortho doc had warned me about this but all he did was tell me to start walking in my regular shoes which was impossible.
I spent two weeks applying ice every day to relieve the pain and inflammation, followed by near-infrared therapy. After that I have been doing daily gentle stretches but progress is reeeeally slow. I walk with a limp using one crutch or a cane. I surely will try these exercises too. I still resent the doc not warning me about the after effects of the cast...it seems rather cruel.

Just got my aircast boot off this weekend. I am 8 weeks post op for a trimalleolar ankle break. My surgeon told me to start fully weight bearing without crutches!! I'm finding it so hard as my ligaments are unbelievably stiff. My physio has suggested similar exercises to yours and of course I will try those too but nobody tells you about how hard this stage is.....it hurts 😱

I am walking, going up and downstairs etc and have most of my mobility back to normal. My ankle is still stiff and I can't stand on my tip toes I just don't have that movement. It feels uncomfortable if I've been walking a lot but it's not painful. I try to keep active as I think this helps but I accept it will never be the same as it was. Good footwear is essential for support.

I'm at the weight bearing stage but it hurts so much! Did you have a lot of pain when you started weight bearing and how long did it last? How long after were you able to walk? Thanks

Lack of ankle flex has messed my knee up. I can't bend it comfortably to put it on top of the other leg as you demonstrate. I'm 8 weeks out of my cast for an ankle avulsion fracture no surgery and still am having trouble getting the flex both ways. It's taking so long! Is this normal? I do lots of exercise stretching and strengthening everyday. It's a full time job. I have a lot of tingling nerves too and swelling still on the ankle. My last 2 toes wont bend very well.

I don't know what stage you are at now with your recovery but it sounds as if there has been some nerve damage affecting your toes.

I know the feeling. Give it another several months of doing flexibility and strengthening exercises of the whole leg not just your foot and ankle, and hold off the jumping and running until you can walk normally first.
Even though x-rays show a fracture healed, it takes many months for the bones to remodel itself and continue to strengthen. Other people I spoke with resumed sports too soon and managed to re-fracture their leg or foot, so be careful and patient with yourself.

Vivianne K. It's been 1 year since ankle surgery. I was faithful to all the exercises and physical therapy. Also made comfry tea, soaked a bandage and wrapped ankle most nights with it. I have pretty good flexible and good bone rebuild now. Thanks for asking
