  • 1985 Oldsmobile delta 88 307 quadrajet computer controlled carburetor 200r4 transmission. Its not a 442 or a w30, she not super fast but she gets the job done. The combination of 307 Oldsmobile engine and the 4 barrel Rochester quadrajet carburetor with the overdrive transmission produce excellent gas mileage. This is a GM B Body same as the Buick roadmaster Buick electra, Chevrolet caprice, Impala. This is a great car

A painful reminder that as a society, we've been on a downward spiral for the past half century!

Excellent powertrain and car!! My dad had an 84 Buick LeSabre as a company car, 65000 miles in two years NO problems. I believe that the computer controlled Quadrajet carburetor got an undeserved bad rap. They ran perfectly fine when new, small primaries for excellent part load fuel economy and BIG secondaries for max airflow. And the ONLY carburetor I've ever experienced with EXCELLENT hot fuel handling, no flooding after re fueling stop in 100 degree heat with AC on at 80 mph cruise!! That Buick was about a 12 second 0 - 60 car on the smaller B Body and would EASILY peg the 85 mph speedometer. Nice car!!

+Steve Payne I agree this is an excellent drive train I love driving this car easily keeps up with modern traffic. This car has the f41 suspension option and handles really well. Very happy with this car and I have put on a few thousand miles on with no issue. Very happy that this car survived the cash for clunkers program!

And the 79 Electra I drove to high school I did invert the air cleaner lid and the sound when the secondaries open was heavenly!!

I LOVE the chimes in this car!!!!! Sound like either a grandfather clock or a slot machine!!! The Police's Synchronicity in the tape deck & Crowded House's Don't Dream It's Over on the radio..........can't get any more '80's than that, my friend!!!!!

I know what you mean by that "you mean business" bit. I just got a '77 Delta 88 and I get a lot of stares and looks when I go down the road in it. Mostly because it is in like-new condition with only 15k original miles on it. But she is an impressive machine.

Couldn't pass it up...only paid $3,000.00. So far I redid the headliner/visors, new paint, belts, rebuilt the carburetor, and put 4 new shocks on it.

My uncle had a B Body Pontiac 1978 (Parisienne) with a Curtis aftermarket brand Cassette deck that looked identical to your Alpine one. the memory channel buttons lit up green at night

Actually, I believe the purpose of the air/smog pump is to keep the temperature of the catalytic converter cooler - a benefit to cars that are computer controlled and have O2 sensors.

Big boy luxury coupe! Not as big as the '73 Coupe DeVille I used to have, but not far off 10" or so shorter I believe. Not like all the sporty girly-man coupes out there a full size coupe is something great that everybody does not understand

I had an Olds 307 in my 87 Cadillac Brougham with 2.73:1 rear end gears. I found it to be underpowered with the 307. Even when I got it running right it still took it 14-15 seconds 0-60 but it would cruise at 80 with no big deal and could bury the speedometer when pushed hard enough. I guess it was an adequate performer for what it was; but for a V8 it was disappointing. Chevrolet's 305 with TBI would blow the doors off a VIN-Y 307.

+dstarks80 100% agreed, had an 87 fleetwood brougham, underpowered, drove few Caprices with 305, big difference, too bad the wagons didn't get them either uptil 1990.

Beautiful car, i have an 84 regency 98 sitting in the garage but i have a little problem. I think that my hoses from the air pump that is located under the air conditioner might be crossed. Would you be able to video tape that location for a short while so i can get a look at the hose connection system? It would be very grateful from one olds owner to another. Thank You

The Big, Fullsize of the big 3 represented the division of the manufacturer, like this Delta 88 was the head of Oldsmobile.

I second your thoughts on the Olds 307 as I have one in my 1981 Bonneville. It works plenty fine for me. The 305 in my 1985 Caprice might be faster from a stop but on the highway I think the Olds 307 has a little more. I dont drive mine in the winter. Got a 2013 GMC Terrain for that.

What size is the stock carburetter for the 307 and would it be adequate for a Chevy 454 or a Chevy 350

Could you kindly replace the chime in this Olds 88 with a scary buzzer from a 1977-84 Chevy Impala?
