I was hunched over drawing something when he said that I fucked my line up and bolted my head up. What I want to know is fucking how, how on earth do you do that.
Now really, why can't the Paddington movies or the revised Peter Rabbit movie be more like THIS? Subtle, beautiful, celebrating the SIMPLE beautiful parts of life, the way the authors of those books actually intended?
@@michelefish3378 I admit the Paddington script was mostly decent. The CGI takes most of the charm away for me though - this style of animation conjures up the world of the books much more for me.
I just saw this film on Amazon Prime, and I had never heard of these characters or their original source material until I saw the movie. However, I was delightfully surprised by this film in regards to the quality and visual originality of the animation. I'm a huge fan of the 2d non-cg animated shorts, such as those by the famed Studio Ghibli, and this film reminded me of Ghibli's work. I'm not saying that the film was a carbon copy of a Ghibli film as it's overall style was very original, but something about its charm reminded me of the first time I saw My Neighbor Totoro as a child. All in all, I found the film charming and thought the animation and art direction were great. I only hope that 2d animation will again hold its own at the silver screen once again.
OH MY GOD YES HE DID SAY IT WAS FLASH DID YOU NOT WATCH THE VIDEO :D??????????????!?! OH my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CANT BELIEVE IT IS FLASH BECAUSE ITS MY FAVOURITE SuPERHERO
Hey Ernest and Clementine fans. Nice to meet you here!!!! I saw the film on national Icelandic tv and have also studied the comic. Essential reading and viewing for artists......
I do think they could make that water-color effect on a computer. Photoshop or any other app could "easily" recreature or use it to generate the style. Though the real deal is probably nicer and more random.
Well it´s one of the best animes ever because the animation was based on the tradition of ´watercolor anime´or ´watercolor like´anime which works ideal for the comic.
+Yatukih001 Well, I wouldn't really call it anime, I mean sure, it's basically the same thing, but usually Asian animations are called anime and American/European animations are called cartoons. At-least that's the impression I have.
No problem. I call it one of the first steps towards 2 - dimensional time travel. It provides us with the basis, whose means we will utilize to send people´s avatars through time... that is the most fundamentally important thing which defines the uniqueness of it´s character.
It´s a bit like the Conjuring. It´s supposed to be an anime, but it isn´t ´really´an anime, just like the Conjuring is supposed to be a ´horror´film, but it isn´t actually a horror film - rather, it´s a brutal war film, and the first impression the viewer has of Ernest & Celestine, is the brutal reality of war. Towards the extent of it´s magical escape from it´s ´animeness´, Ernest & Clementine has got the Brutality of Fact.
@@ShaelynKyall in france we don't call it cartoon we call it "Dessin Animé "or "animé or "DA" which mean literally "animated drawing " cartoon is actually a under-genre of humour , very exagerated for us .
La vi cuando salio. Y la compre en cds la regale a mis hijos y pasaron los años y olvide su titulo. La busque dias y dias en internet. Y por fin la tengo de regreso se quedara por siempre conmigo. Existe el libro? Alguien me puede ayudar?
Currently there is this app which uses AI to mimic a style it gets input. I makes try amazing renders. It just needs a couple example images and then remakes the style.
For those interested, i looked up the video i saw a while back. The application is called EbSynth, its not perfect of course. But its truly mind boggling what this app can do with just a couple images th-cam.com/video/mkCxwt81U1Q/w-d-xo.html
I can't believe this is Flash. It's literally there on the animators' screens and I'm still shocked.

@@Dennisjay9 it's animated on flash but they didn't use rigs, you can do hand-drawn animation on flash too
This film is so charming and funny. Definitely one of my favorite animated films released in recent years.
Now really, why can't the Paddington movies or the revised Peter Rabbit movie be more like THIS? Subtle, beautiful, celebrating the SIMPLE beautiful parts of life, the way the authors of those books actually intended?
I find the Paddington movies to be as good as this film.
Less said about the Peter Rabbit film though, the better.

I know its been 3 years, but did you get that by any chance? the watercolor effect? the very magical transformation portrayed here
6 years later, any luck?

Awww! That was my favorite childhood book! I couldn’t find it anywhere because I didn’t know the name! Now I finally got it!! :D
La belleza de ésta película es inigualable, gracias por crear cosas tan lindas para chicos y grandes., la ví y se quedó en mi corazón.
I have to say I loved this as well as Le Grand Mechant Renard, the aesthetic is so simplistic and beautiful at the same time

You can sense the Studio Ghibli influences in this film

Great insight. Can't wait to see the film!
I wonder if this software that helped on backgrounds watercolours is available to download... too awesome!
At 1:25 shouldn't that be "Renner's Tumblr" not "Vincent's Tumbler" ?
Oh my gosh, such beautiful animation
I remember watching Ernest and Celestine until I fell asleep at the age of 10
