I'm a musician with production experience and I agree. I loved the playfulness of the organs, and little touches such as the violin being emphasized during the scene where the violinist dies.
Sadly, for now he's pandering to a niche indie console that just...has a gimmick and that's it, which is meh. And also trying to make a game for his kids with it, which is more understandable.

The 1-bit dithered graphics is a master stroke. The ghostly, bare art style is fitting for depicting faded memories. And it strips everything to its essence, so nothing gets in the way of what really matters. Just like in black-and-white movies, losing color actually serves an artistic purpose.
