This is the most perfect guide for blades, thank you so much, this is exactly what I needed cuz I wasn't sure what blade I wanted/needed for my saber. Love your content man
I haven’t seen a video in a long time. The last video I watched was just after his first stream that I watched I believe. I now see how much I have been missing out on...
Just a note with the tips, parabolic tips are more accurate to the movies but are more likely to fly off the end of your blade. So if you want accuracy and don't plan on dueling, get a parabolic tip but if you want to be able to duel, get a round tip. Also if you have an in hilt LED (a flashlight style) then make sure the tip has a mirror on the inside to bounce the light back and evenly light your blade. If you are building a neopixel blade then you want to be able to put one of the neopixel LEDs in the tip so either order one a tip without a mirror or remove it.
@@DonnyDrake06 flashlights generally have something in them that spreads out the light but you want the opposite when lighting up a lightsaber blade so if you could get one of those flashlights that has a very focused beam that'll work better. Also be sure to have some diffusion paper in the lightsaber blade.
Really excited to find an account that's super modern and beginner-friendly. I just purchased a vintage Graflex on eBay out of impulse a couple days ago and now I'm challenged to turn it into a neopixel. Can't wait for more videos along this building journey.
Brother your content is fantastic - I’ve been collecting light sabers for 2 decades and I’m completely impressed by how you organize present teach and celebrate the Star Wars we enjoy I-R-L :-)
I wonder. I just built a PC with RGB strips inside the case. The type of RGB strips that look like a solid bar of light. What makes me wonder is, they use a very durable defusing material in the RGB strips, I don't see any reason it couldn't go into Pixel blades to make them more durable than standard in-hilt lighted blades. (For reference search amazon for "Airgoo pc led strip")
FYI the decrease in brightness with heavy grade/thick walled blades is much less dramatic with clear blades, since the clear material doesn’t limit the light as much as extra frosted/white material.
I commented in one of your previous videos about my lightsaber building experience. One method you did not mention because it is out of style these days is a plasma bulb. Very much a display or a cosplay-type blade, with no impact resistance at all, but IMO it is the best possible blade look you can get. You can control the amount of time it takes for the blade to extend and then retract and it looks like a real lightsaber. Check it out. I'm sure you can find a video of it out there somewhere.
This is quite helpful, i want to make a custom one from a Star Wars RPG Campaign i did. The only issue is figuring out what size would be good for a heavy/broadsword lightsaber.
It’s pretty awesome!!! I know most of what was gone over in this vid as I also did a ton of research on(kudos to you! It’s a lot🤣) but I always love watching your vids!!! The editing and cuts are awesome 👌🏾👍🏾!!! I’m going to be getting a lathe pretty soon and giving some hilts a go!!! So I understand as a new builder and keep it up man!!! Great vid!!
I spent a year building the best lightsaber I ever used. Finally got it into manufacturing. First shipment is in two weeks. If you wanted to showcase it let me know. I could send you one for free
@6:03... regarding polycarbonate... ideally it should be fully anneal but I doubt anyone would do that for a light saber; a properly annealed polycarbonate blade would make it much less prone to tracking.
So for either type of blade, how do they connect to the hilt? I have always wondered how someone swings their hilt and the blade doesn’t come flying out.
Crimson Dawn makes good neopixel led blades that look good and can take a hit for 70 bucks. And you can get the ShtokCustomWorx NPXL NeoPixel LED Connector PCB Kit that has leds in the hilt too! PCB kit is like 20 bucks.
1. Their blades are $80 not $70 lol. And their blades are resold LGT blades. Not very good quality. Bendu Armory has the best pixel blades on the market IMO. 2. The neopixel connectors with LEDs are also made by CCsabers and they’re only intended for illuminating normal blade plugs in a neopixel saber.
Where can I get a saber set up that has that lighting effect and other goodies like flame effect, unstable saber effect, and other like the rainbow change?
@Davish If you are asking this I think you are a little confused. a thin-neck refers to the hilt and its emitter section, a la classic ROTJ Luke--in those designs and most others regardless of neck design, the blade depth really only goes in about an inch and a half to 2 inches deep maybe a bit more for some specialty designs, then terminate to a much thinner diameter. If it's lit in-hilt, the LED board would sit right at the bottom of that wide section. So there is functionally no difference where the blade is concerned. It's just a matter of whether it's a 1" or 7/8" in diameter. The diffusion is only in the blade and is only as long as the blade, so there is no bringing hilts into it. Does that make sense?
@@archaelia actually the hilt does matter. Some thin necks have the LED under the neck, to allow for better blade depth. So the brightness would be severely limited. Most thin necks have only 1” blade depth, and sometimes even less when the led is above the neck
That outro was my favorite thing of all time. It had the exact same energy as the College Humor "CEO" series, and I love it.
Pro tip: To avoid trouble, stay away from Hondo.
Since my wallet is absolutely not profitable, I think I don’t have to worry
What did I do?? Lol
Hondo always gets his way!
Well now I want to do it
Her: he's probably thinking about other girls.
Him: if I get the thick blade it won't shine as bright as I want but I still need to duel with it.
Confirmed, this is all he thinks about 😆
Haha this describes my relationship perfectly
such and old joke
midgrades are honestly more than enough for most dueling tbh
true

Hey, I want to use a flashlight to light up my blade, is there anything I should keep in mind when doing so?

your jedi mind trick def worked, thank the gods that you didnt fumble your words.. so, i still have some more questions to ask that you need to answer
I am using a bladebuilders soundboard with a 3d printed hilt
Impressive most impressive
When I make my lightsaber I am going to get some long exposure shots
Almost perfectly summed up, but I still wonder the color programming part. Could someone give me a short explanation on how that is being done? :)
You should play Ezra Bridger in a movies!
Agreed. Unfortunately it's rumoured that Mena Massoud will be playing Ezra in the Ahsoka series.
@@Iliadic Rumors are less likely to be true.
You should show off all of your blades in a video

When are you going to show off your lightsaber skills?

Star Wars irl lightsaber color.
Well it is a thing I like to call everything.
Is there a difference between Neopixel and Xenopixel lights?
I want dueling saber but I am going with neopixel, because it has more effects.
Have you ordered the force FX dark saber yet?
So a question about the blade plug: Why would you turn a lightsaber on without the blade if you don't want to use it as a flashlight?
Gosh I love your videos
Hey SWirl is there any updates on the Dume fan film? I checked out the other channel and no update. Great video btw!
