  • I've had literally hundreds of people asking me for more translations. Whilst I'm not a Clarkson's Farm channel, nobody else seems to be filling this void, so here goes.

    I grew up in Oxfordshire and live in Chippy now and hearing Gerald's type of accent on the telly is brilliant (despite the dubbing). I think a lot of people probably didn't realise how strong the Oxfordshire (especially north / west oxon) accent can be! "awrieet boi" (pronounced like the start of 'boing') is also a very common oxon greeting 😂

      It's very south west sounding like Cornwall farming style.

    I don't believe there's any trickery at work with Gerald. None.

    Thanks so much for making this! Funny, I’m American and could understand most of the non-gibberish parts, so I was hoping this would help me decipher the rest, but alas it’s just intentional editing. Disappointing, really. I hope Gerald is at least in on the joke.

    Living in Somerset that accent and way of speaking is common, I can understand most of what he is saying but I agree the doctored audio is there to make it even more ridiculous 😂

    I started to think I just couldn't understand Gerald as well as I thought I could/remembered this season. Now that you've pointed out the audio edits, it all makes sense now.

    TH-cam analyzes frames, and when it get's enough matches - bans it with copyright. By shortening length of clips you just giving him less frames to analyze. But that's really unproductive thing to do. Just do as all those reactors on TH-cam doing - put a video you showing in a small part of the screen, ~20-25% of the screen, you can also mirror the video and add some transparency as extra measures. That way you can show whole season in one video.
    And thank you for the subtitles, I was dying to know what Gerald actually saying.

      They have copies of movies were it's 2/3 or even 4/5 of the screen and there's another system like vox for uhf radios it basically scraps all background noise and you only hear the people talking and sometimes they're muffled. That fixes it. Another is reverse image screen, another is a reverse audio echo over everything they say. Do they're speaking backwards as well as forwards. Some show the image full screen bit the commentator is in the bottom corner, sometimes even a still image of the commentator. A black guy done one recently of himself holding a game controller in the corner like he was playing a video game but he was livestreaming the world cup soccer. Anyway you've probably worked out a method by now.

    This makes so much sense now, as someone from Devon I have a pretty good grasp of the accent, so I always found it really weird how I couldn't understand him but I can understand other people who talk just like him.

    Hi Jason, I've worked in TV for a long time and always thought they've had some fun in the dub with Gerald (I have no specific inside info). Certainly I think they often join different sentences together to make him more unintelligible. I guess it helps with the gag. I love your analysis.👍

    It's pretty suspect how there are so many shots of him from the back - they don't show his mouth moving very often to cover up the edits.

    I'm assuming the unintelligible word when he's on the radio that you think is just some farming lingo, is just him imitating the alarm chime? Having listened twice it sounds like so to me. But then again I could be wrong and it's just confirmation bias. Either way, thanks for the effort 🙏🏻

    • @420burezuitto
      @420burezuitto ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree! Came here to say that. I don’t think that part is pasted over again, he’s just repeating “i’ve got the boooong (chime) 50-57” and asking how to get rid of it.

    • @JasonCoulls
      @JasonCoulls  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I may well do. This was an accidental thing because I only did the one clip in season one and then everyone was yelling that I should do season two. Ha ha! I will see how it goes and possibly revisit season 1.

    It seems possible that they told him to exaggerate his accent at points or they found phrases, agriculturally appropriate hopefully, that are very hard to understand in his accent or just things Gerald said that were particularly funny or hard to understand.
    After seeing the closed caption and understand what he actually said I’m going to give the show the benefit of the doubt. I didn’t ever think they made up gibberish but the thought crossed my mind.
