One World Observatory at World Trade Center - Elevator Ride

- Built inside each of the observatory's elevators are nine, 75-inch displays that create the illusion that you are viewing Manhattan's skyline through glass elevator windows.
During the 59-second ride, visitors are shown a detailed recreation of New York City's industrialization and construction. The elevator appears to emerge from bedrock in the year 1500, revealing marsh land yet to be colonized, and then quickly advances to show the rapid expansion that led to the Manhattan we know today.

I think I am seeing what OP of this comment is talking about. Maybe though as I am not 100% sure that is really what it is or if what I am seeing is what OP is talking about as well. Anyways, around 1:40, shortly before it goes back into 1 🌎 it looks like both towers but it's only on screen for about 1.5 - 2 seconds but is definitely what it looks like at that timestamp I noted. I probably just wasted 5 minutes of my life by commenting on a thread that was originally posted a year ago but still, it was worth it trying to let you know that you're not the only one seeing it.

Girlfriend and I went to NYC back in December and went here. When you get to the top, they do a little slide show, and these panels pull up revealing the city. Man, you dont know how tall that building is until you're at the top. Truly a terrifying but amazing experience.

Is it possible to be nostalgic about something you've never seen? I got emotional when the ride showed one of the former towers and it's sad to think that future generations will never get to experience the former WTC
I'm one of the people that would have preferred they had built two visually similar towers there again. That made the NY skyline so unique compared to other cities. Now, it's just a memorial and a tower that looks straight out of Dubai. The magic disappeared and they never got that back. Two similar towers with reinforced security would be excellent, it would be an homage and a good message

The direction of the camera in this shot is pointing southeast toward the East River and the Brooklyn Bridge (clearly visible in the center of the front view).
The building that you see on the right in the picture is the northern facade of WTC 1 - the former north tower that stood south of WTC 6. WTC 2 is diagonally behind it and can also be seen very briefly and slightly offset behind it.
It is the northern front of the north tower. The new 1WTC is located in the same position as the former WTC6: at the northwest corner of the WTC site.
The view from the elevator looks east towards the East River - the Brooklyn Bridge can be seen in the middle of the picture.
This means that the right side of the elevator faces south. The north tower stood there until 2001. The south tower stands diagonally behind it and can also be seen.
On the former positions of the two twin towers is now the "National September 11 Memorial and Museum" with the names of the victims and the two structures that represent the foundations of the twin towers

This is the coolest elevator video I have ever seen on TH-cam, let alone one of the World Trade Center! I am impressed how they create the illusion of the elevator being outdoors floating above the city skyline
I went in this myself on a school trip. It goes so fast that your ears start to hurt, because you choose how fast you want to get to the top floor. Its so cool and when you get to the floor 103 there are like a projector attached to the windows and it goes up and then you have the view of nyc to yourself

I was freelancing at Blur when they were creating this but never saw the final results. Awesome, very well done! But the "going down" group cracks me up! I've seen more enthusiasm in elevators where everyone is looking down at their phones!
Seriously this is BY FAR the very best elevator ride i have ever seen. I have been to so many rooftop viewpoints all over the world and there are some cool ideas you can discover but what they did in One WTC is just INCREDIBLY awesome!!!!!!!! The next week I will be back in New York and I am looking forward to it sooo much and I am so angry to myself that I spoiled this elevator illusion to my friend already m(

Wow! This is an interesting insight into where virtual reality entertainment might be heading. Imagine an escape room/air soft/FPS game where walls and divider screens generate virtual reality and atmospheric controls generate fake weather conditions like a sight and sound theater experience does now. It’s the next best thing to the Holodeck from Star Trek.
Centuries of progress all leading up to this. As disappointed as I am with humanity, I’m just as impressed as I am disappointed. This looks amazing. I hope I get to visit New York one day.

New One World Trade Center stands at the northern left corner of the WTC complex, where WTC6 stood until 2001. The view is looking east towards the East River (Brooklyn Bridge is in the middle of the picture). So the view to the right is south. The north tower (1 WTC) stood there in 2001 and you can see the northern facade here. The south tower (2 WTC) stood offset behind it.

I always get goosebumps when they go pass the Old World Trade Center it brings back so many memories to me as a child go under the subway and just looking up and seeing those two beautiful twin towers.
Guys, the elevator is real and moving around. The reason the buildings are like that is because their render chunks were set low.
Imagine they would add an Animation how 1 plane Hits the tower on 00:40 and the other Plane goes into the elevator screen. That would be crazy

Just visited NYC 3 weeks ago, took that elevator up to the observatory. One of best experiences of my life visiting this city. I highly recommend everyone take a trip there at least once in your lifetime

I absolutely remember a news report on youtube saying the elevator and new world trade center would have no references to the twin towers except the memorial. So seeing the south tower just appear out of nowhere in the middle of the ride physically made me jump.

I remember when I was a kid going up the elevator in the original WTC, and being SO BORED because there was nothing to do but wait. I can't even recall if there was a number or anything telling you what floor you were on, it was just a typical (but big) elevator.
Yes also if you slow the video down it's lasts alot longer than a minute use the three ( *** ) dots to select video speed to 0,5 speed

Both towers appear at approximately 00:41. At this point, the time scale says 1970. They opened in 1972 and 1973 respectively.

I really want to go to my most favorite building in the world! (Which is obviously 1 WTC/Freedom Tower). Plus, seeing the new two World Trade Center on the animation of the elevator ride, was cool! I just really hope they built that one! Or maybe if they can try to build the other plan of the new 2 WTC

Kinda funny. I was there and saw it live last year about 2 days before new years and now youtube recommended me this. It's amazing to get up there tho and the view up there is beautiful (especially when it gets dark outside). For everyone that goes to visit it I'd recommend to bring some tictacs or something similiar for the elevator cuz there's a lot of force and your ears will start to hurt.
