- This machine was designed and engineered by Matrix Design to assemble a valve body and rubber tip. Assembly takes place around a dial using cam operated jaws that grip the valve body. A vibratory bowl feeds the valve bodies into a gravity track while a servo driven small dial is used for feeding the valve bodies to the main dial. Air tracks are used to move the rubber tip and a servo driven singulating mechanism grabs one unit at a time to insert on top of the valve body using thrust and rotation. After the parts are assembled, a vision camera inspects height and concentricity. If the parts are misassembled and do not meet the programmed critical dimension, it gets rejected through a vacuum. If the assembled part passes inspection, it gets ejected down a chute and into a waiting container on a conveyor belt at the bottom of the assembly machine.

What branch of engineering is this?
Manufacturing Engineering. It's technically a subset of Industrial. But anybody with an engineering degree and practical fabrication, design, programming, and project management skills can get into it. Soft social skills go a long way too in big companies. And you will forever find jobs if you have experience and aren't a felon.
It’s equipment engineering, mechanical engineering, controls and machine vision. A manufacturing engines would work with the equipment to get good yield or process control but not necessarily design or fabricate the machine itself
I work for a company that produces machines like this. We have a team of mechanical engineers and a team of controls engineers.
This machine is about 100x more complicated than it needs to be. Poor thinking...
