    You dont have to call customer service. First downloasd the app on your phone and create a account. When you get the bike scan the QR code on the screen for activation. Thats all I did.

    Thank you so much for this video! I was getting anxious and frustrated, but after finding your video, Peloton was still open at 10 ET and I was able to get activated and set up in no time!

    Just got a second hand bike and started trying to set it up today this video was super helpful... Unfortunately the customer service team was closed by the time I tried to set up an account (Spent the morning getting shoes and cleats etc) Fingers crossed I can get it all running tomorrow!

    I believe the customer service is from another country, I believe if you said "Used Bike" instead of "Second hand" they would have know how to get where you needed to get.

    Did you need any specific information from the previous owner or did you only need the serial numbers? I am hoping to pick one up this weekend and want to be sure I dont run in to any issues when I go to set up my membership.

    Can you use the bike after you cancel your subscription? Does the class live trainers really make a difference?

      @@23molene the bike operates as normal without a subscription. The classes are what make peloton worth it

    Came across your vid today. Great info for someone who is interested in a used Peloton Bike. What year bike is yours? I was looking at a 2016 but not sure if it is a 1st or 2nd Gen. Afraid if it is a 1st Gen screen the updates are now obsolete.

    I just purchased a used Peloton from my boss and this video helped, my experience with customer service was great they transferred me right away to the membership line and they just asked for my name and email and street address and I was set never asked for a serial number for bike or anything, I did set up a profile on the app and she just asked for the email so not sure if that helped.

    If you bought a used Peloton Plus, you can turn the screen on and it will show the serial number at the bottom of the screen.

    How much did you pay for it used? I’m seeing prices between $600-$700 for Gen 3 model ? Just curious cause I don’t want to get scammed lol

      I wouldn’t trust the 600-700$ ones. Those are typically scams. I would say if it’s below 1000 be very very cautious. I just bought one in CA for 1000, but thank god I knew the person through a mutual friend.

    My experience of buying a used Peloton and setting it up was much simpler than this (I live in the UK). Turn it on; connect to Wi-Fi; follow on screen instructions with your smartphone and payment method. Five minutes max.

      Sorry I don’t know what year our bike is. I tried looking if it noted production year anywhere and could not find it.

      great question, no you don't need to activate the bike for you to be able to ride it. but if you don't activate a subscription then its just another bike. i would look into buying a Echelon if you don't want to purchase the subscription.
