Don't Neglect Your Transmission or This Will Be You! Lexus LS430 Engine and Trans Removal

- This 2001 Lexus LS430 has a bad transmission and to swap that, I decided it would be best to pull the engine and transmission out as one assembly.
I didn’t find many videos showing the process so I did my best here to document how to do it for you in the future.
With this engine and transmission removed, it now opens the door to overhauling tons of other engine components like timing belt, gaskets, and more.

Bro! You the man!!! Can't wait to see more, good thing about doing this is you will familiarize so much with this car it'll be a breeze to work on it when you do.
Heck yeah!! Already feeling more familiar with it for sure
@JJinMotion after watching you do this by yourself, you definitely gave me the bravery to do the mounts by myself.
Awesome! Motor mounts are tough but on my Celsior it made a massive different in ride comfort and quality. I made a video on that process, but it looks to be a bit different on the LS430
An entire engine removal in one video! Cant wait to see it get refurbished!
Thanks man! I can hardly wait too
Yo! Really liking this series a lot. I have been looking to restore a car recently and the LS430 is one of the options. If I get it, I will DEFINITELY be referencing this haha.
You don't happen to live in Idaho do you haha? 🤣
Awesome dude! Hope the sale goes smoothly for you.
Haha I do not, I’m in Florida. Although I want to visit Idaho sometime soon :-)
@ 1:30 - a vise grip on the hood strut will keep the hood up too. Takes up less room than a board in the way.
Hard work
I can feel it.
Good job.
What if you have a car lefter, same one in the workshops .
Oh man it will make every work on cars like a pic of Cake .
I can’t wait for the day I have a lift! Haha
Great work man! You've got lots of cleaning in your future
Haha I know! I was laying in bed last night thinking I need a giant sized ultrasonic cleaner lol
Outstanding work. Change the upstream oxygen sensors while you have it out. It is a nightmare job in the car. I had to heat mine with Mapp gas and almost could not get it to turn.
Great idea, didn’t consider that
Insane work keep it up dude!
Thanks dude!! Will do
Good job sir. Hope you close to PHILADELPHIA PA
Florida :-)
Engine crane hitting the edge of the garage cracked me up!
It’s always something 🤣
🫨 one man show! Too bad you live across the country lol I want to be your best friend so you can help me with my LS 😆
Can’t wait for the next episode 😎
Haha road trip it down to Florida and let’s get to work!! Thanks for the support as always dude 🏎️
doubt you would like his help too much considering he pulling the whole motor when any person with time management and 4 jack stands can pull the trans in like 2.5 hrs first pull then bout 5hr but what he did your talking a week worth work if your doing alone min 3 days for someone like me
Probably should replace power steering diverter valve, prone to leak if you can't figure out where power steering fluid is coming from
Good call!
Subscribed bro !
Thanks so much dude! I really appreciate it
idk if its the 5 speed or 6 speed cause i just started the video and haven't got good look at trans yet. But you said these transmissions are extremely heavy lmao these are the lightest v8 transmission ive ever had to remove ive changed plenty of v6 and 4 cylinder transmissions that weigh more i can pick this one up by myself. And why would you remove your whole motor because the other has less miles you realize they are known to roll over 1 million miles right? the 1uz and 3uz 5 speeds and the older 4 speeds are known for being called million miles lexus you just changing the motor for a motor you dont know much about how it was maintained in the past vs one you hopefully did.
I am NEVER going to do another engine swap without proper shop again. Even then I would seriously consider just paying someone to do it.
Excellent work, I recommend you use some picks to loosen up the hoses before you remove them by force
Thanks, I did do that a couple times but sometimes the hoses just disintegrate from being so old
good job man!! i’ve got a 1998 land cruiser 100 with the 2UZ-FE, i’ve had it for a whileeeee now and it never really let me down once being 10 years in the family!
Awesome!! I absolutely love the 100 series platform, they're such good vehicles
How did you learn to do all this? I'd love a "my history with working on cars" video!
Lore video! I like it
Hats of to you broooo !! Doing all this alone
Thanks man! Tons of hard work but so excited about
Amazing bro
I also got LS430 100,00 KM mint !! I did all the major services my self and will perform more now on altezza rhd coming from japan
Awesome! That’s very exciting
it's better for you to take the catalyst off and mount them after putting the engine back again
I remember when I did mine it was a pain to put everything back in there
Ok, good idea! I’ll keep that in mind. Thank you
@@JJinMotion let me know also if you need some used parts or some information about the process
keep it up bro 👍🏻
Thank you!
