  • How to paint kitchen cabinets yourself for under £50! I painted my kitchen cupboards without removing the doors & without much sanding and priming. If you want a kitchen makeover on a budget by painting the units this is the video for you. I'm really pleased with the results so I would encourage anyone to consider doing this before ripping out their entire kitchen!

    Further information:
I used kitchen cupboard paint, as an alternative to chalk paint / Annie Sloan. It's great to paint Laminate Cupboard doors, MDF doors, or Wooden cupboard doors. I used the colour 'Mineral stone' (grey / gray paint), I think white, antique white, dark brown or duck egg blue are all great kitchen door paint colours too.
I used half a tin of the primer & 1 and a half tins of the cupboard paint to do my kitchen which is made up of 11 units.

Very useful reference to the F & B colour chart, the angled-sanding pads tip, the good-quality roller tip, the truly amazing tin foil masking tape tip!! And loved the fact you didn't take the doors off! The best tutorial about painting kitchen cabinets I've seen, thank you.

If you have no foil try cling film ( cheaper and more of ) but in case you will not use it for awhile keep plenty of paint on it , ie leave it wet

thank you so much for doing this video, was just pondering about which paint to use on my kitchen makeover, there are so many out there so its nice to see one been used and see the results, just to ask , how it it wearing , I had plan to remove all 16 doors and 9 drawer, after watching your video, I will leave them on, win win for me. THANK YOU

Hi Mr Carrington, I love this video, thank you so much. I've bought the Wilko primer and the Wilko cabinet paint today. The roller link you left doesn't work now, I'm presuming because the video is old so i bought a sponge roller but putting the primer on melamine with a sponge roller just didn't work, it was skidding all over the place so I have done my first coat with a brush but is very patchy (brown melamine). What roller should I buy for the primer (water based) and then then for the cupboard paint (not water-based) to get a smooth finish. Thank you so much and thank you for inspiring me to have the courage 😊 🙏

I absolutely love this video, thank you, and your kitchen looks gorgeous. I have two questions, do you know what colour would be good to buy if I want cream cabinets? and how did you clean the rollers, brushes as some people are saying that the paint is so thick they can't clean it off. Thank you so much. I'm excited to start ☺️

Really impressed with the difference a simple paint job can do. I live in a beautiful but very old cottage. The last tenants painted the gallery kitchen cupboards a pale meadow green (lol my colour description) and while I like it, I want to change the colour. I have been putting it off thinking it was going to be a pain to do, but thanks to your video I now shall be painting kitchen cupboards next weekend. My now concern is what colour???? If anyone reads this please suggest some colours. My kitchen walls are cherise pink... Yes I paint my walls bright pink. Fridge freezer, microwave, cooker, kettle and all accessories are black.... But NO white units, god would be a nightmare to keep clean.
Enough waffle from me, thanks for a great video!!

Looks fantastic, the finish you’ve got looks really good too. Want to give our kitchen a little make over, but like you said in the video, there’s so much information on TH-cam and the internet, it kind of puts you off doing it. But after I’ve seen how easily you did it, and the results you got from very little effort, it’s made me want to give it a crack!

  • @chriscaine7689
    @chriscaine7689 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks for recommending this paint. I bought the same colour too. I wanted to paint the cupboard framework but not the door fronts. It is very thick paint and went on brilliantly with a small sponge roller, I didn't need primer or a second coat as it was super coverage and glossy the next day so I have loads left. 🤔 I am leaving it to cure for a few days before putting doors back on too.
I will say it is quite smelly as its oil based paint and needs very good ventilation. I did get a bit of a tight chest and a little short of breath, but maybe thats just me. Cleaning oilbased paint is not a thing I've done in years, so a bit tedious....
Great for anyone to revamp their kitchen on a budge Overall, excellent result for £20!!

Ooooh this is perfect as I’m hoping to get painty painty, although did you paint the inside of the cupboards? And the drawers? Where do you stop, I’m a little scared to start!
It looks so great, I think you should tackle those blues tiles next? Maybe go white...........I say this knowing I want a tile painting video also :) xx

I really love this video. I hate my kitchen cabinets and can't afford to replace them, but the idea of taking the doors off, etc., is very intimidating. Seeing you do a nice job without removing them does make it more approachable. That said, how about coming for a visit? :D

gayla gavin It’s actually quite easy with just a screwdriver. (Drill with screwdriver bit makes it faster). Most important though, is to # each door so you know where it goes (or lay them out in order). You could start by doing a section at a time. Make sure doors are clean. Mr. Carrington doesn’t take the doors off. I think it will go faster if you do, but he shows it works! What a lovely change it will be and you would be proud of yourself. Just do it! 😄

It looks great, it doesn’t matter about the colour it’s how you did it. People are going to chooses their own colours anyway, but it looks really cool ❤️

Did u use a foam roller? Im currently doing priming my doors it says on the tin to wait 2 to 3 days before applying the paint but you did it after a day was all ok? I really don’t want to wait that long before the top coat goes on 😭.
