This dude with force Gurkha is my very close college friend and he kind of lost after the college ends in 2010, almost in no touch. No other person that i know of has done such extreme trips. You are a real inspiration to budding You Tubers like me. I own a 21 Gurkha and have been told by a fellow Gurkha owner based in Manali that he did NOT face any cold starting issues this whole winter even though at one point his vehicle was under a mound of snow for about 7 days. Would love to have my Asterix meet your Bulldozer when you are back in Gurgaon. Best wishes and thank you for your honest feedback once again.

@@DCVExpeditions brother i must clarify here that the pre 2021 Gurkhas all faced starting problems in sub zero temperature. They could be ordered with an optional "Cold Starting Kit" to mitigate this. But the 2021 Gurkha does not face this starting issue. Though i am yet to personally experience this. I have heard BS6 vehicles have less cold starting issues compared to BS3 and BS4 vehicles.

If conditions permit, I'd get a Gurkha any day rather than New Thar. Gurkha has been kept at 91 bhp to omit Ad Blu technology, which helps in avoiding issue of cold start in extreme winters.
But Gurkha is fit only for off roading n in snow but in city like Delhi i hv never seen as its not preferred as luxury vehicle. And how many trips one makes in snow/off roading so its not going to be wise decision to spend 20 L apprx

@@AKSHAYBIKER Gurkha uses Lean NOX Trap technology rather than Ad Blue to meet the BS6 standard of Carbon Emission!!
@@AKSHAYBIKER According to Force Motors they have voided the need for needing Ad Blue through the use of another technology to meet BS6 standards.
"The new power train meets the BS6 norms using Lean NOX trap thereby eliminating the need for Ad Blue." -taken from the Force Motors Press Release.
So, if they are using a different way to clean the exhaust gases and have eliminated the need for Adblue, so even a Diesel Particulate Filter may not be installed. So, that way Gurkha can run smoothly in extremely low temperature.

Hi! I have already told you that you have installed the snorkel in wrong direction. You need to cover it because wrong (direction) fitting.
It should face backward instead of the front side. Because if snorkel is facing towards the front side then; it will suck in more dust & more cold air into the engine. You can checkout this in Gurkha which has factory fitted snorkel installed towards rear side..

Thar had to be positioned as a lifestyle vehicle, so it can't be a hardcore Overlander, however Force never wanted to sell in great numbers, so theirs is a more focused vehicle.

Nah, force actually wants to make it a modern overlander, you can see the led lights, the ifs suspension, the screen, so they wanted it to be like thar but they failed since they didn't have much funds to develope it and thats the reason they just offered old tech. And yes, old tech beats new tech.
I agree that it is a "hardcore vehicle" but the reason behind this is that force failed to make it a "lifestyle Vehicle".

That is a very helpful review specially for those who is going to buy Thar for such extreme expeditions but are confused between Petrol vs Diesel. I think petrol vehicles have much less issue in a cold start. My question is the AdBlue fluid which comes with BS6 diesel cars, did you face any challenges with it in the extreme cold? Like fluid got frozen, sensor giving error message like low on adblue etc. I am planning to book a Thar but not sure of the new mStallion petrol engine's long term reliability. The mHawk is a much more tried and tested one but confused between the two. What will be your suggestion?

The Lean NOX Trap technology used in Gurkha gave it an edge in snow driving over other BS6 cars using AdBlue!! But it's poor engine refinement, rough gearbox, extraordinarily outdated interiors, lack of some basic features make it very difficult for consumers to consider this vehicle!!

During winter when I go to the Midwest, I gotta keep my truck running continuously. Unlike vehicles in extreme winter regions, California vehicles are not " winterized". ( I am an interstate trucker based in California )
Good thing is force is having a huge experience in manufacturing of BMW and Mercedes Benz engines and so u have a Gurkha

Usko prep karlo aur dekho sarey loopholes of Thar khatam ho jayengi , the only issue will be long wheelbase, but uski positive point yeh hai ki luggage ki koi dikkat nahi hogi.
I recommend you to watch Australian Hilux videos, how they prep there cars for extreme adventures like you do in India.
Better to suggest Mahindra &Mahindra for glow plug engines start idea frim military vehicles especially Russian ones for such category vehicles...
Glow Plug heaters are already present on this vehicle. Its just tweaking it in extreme conditions.

DCV bhai...ek idea aaya hai...heater coils niche oil pan ko laga sakte aisa banao approx 200 watts ke heating se approx 30mins me engine oil pigal jaayega....aur heat blower seeda radiator pe marenge toh dekiye kitna effective hai...kyuki jo radiator cooling ka kaam karta wo inversely heating ka bhi kaam kar sakta !!

For all those who are suggesting putting hot water on the engine head inspired by another TH-camr who is probably still in his teens, or have the maturity of one, it's DEFINITELY not the right way to go about it, especially if you love your machine. The other TH-camr could be very well posting a "bech diya Thar, bahut dukhi kiya" video soon thanks to such ignorant and kiddish activities, but DCV's machine will last for long. There is no shortcut to success :)

Bhai If car didnt starting in cold then just use hot water and put in front engine area it will start immediately this trick done by Arun panwar in his recent vlog
Force vs mahindra in terms of reliability isi baat se dekh sakte ho, ki force ka yahin engine 26 seator traveller me 35 aadmi bithane ke baad, 2000 kg ka saman apne upar load karne ke baad bhi mast chalta hai. Mahindra could win in terms of power, but not in terms of reliability!!
Moreover, our force cruiser, which have the same engine as that of gurkha, the self start is so quick that even our ertiga fails in front of it in terms of starting!!
Better ek bucket hot water pour karo Mahindra thar ka engine peh..ek self mein start hojaiga without any further issue forsure.🤓👍👍👍

Bro, I love watching your videos. I have only one gripe, that you hold the camera with one hand and drive with the other even in extremely tough driving conditions. It is not safe. Get a Go Pro Camera Mount which mounts on the seat headrest steel rod and you drive with both hands on the wheel.
