Very much enjoy your reactions. And yeah the choreography that the "gatekeepers" get so pissy about. The skill to remember entirely different routines for dozens of songs. While singing, following all the musical cues being totally in sync. It blows my mind how much work and practice to reach this level of performance takes. So glad you're picking up on things like that.

    _Sore!_ 🦊🤘🔥
Thanks for coming back with this suggestion, this is another BM fans favorite song and is already a classic one they don't wanna leave behind in any of their setlist when performing live such recently at FOX_ FEST Festival last weekend when they even opened up the festival with a exclusive remix version and dance called "Akago Kinzoku" dancing with a hand-fan.
One of BM charms is they got both sides of the emotions, light and darkness, they're a rollercoaster, that's the beauty on their songs, you won't find a song alike to another but the mood and tone on certain songs are more heavy or darker while others are more light and happier.
Anyway if you really want to come back with that type of songs then you definitely gonna love the new collab song they released last week along with Electric Callboy called RATATATA, so do it while is still hot and jump on the wagon bc is blowing up the YT algo.
Megitsune was released in 2013 when having around 13/14 and 15 yo, so is one of their early hits and is full of japanese elements, like the _shamizen_ a japanese traditional instrument, and is a party festival song.
"Sore" "seiya" and "soya" are typical shouts among Japanese festival and it works like a "c'mon!" or "let's go" for them.
During the breakdown you can hear another typical japanese folk song called "Sakura Sakura" and they're dancing a traditional Japanese dance.
Btw they really made a ritual and praise to the Fox God for this song to be successful -NotACult-
Song in general is about female empowerment and if you follow the lyrics you'll see about it, "Megitsune" means female fox (vixen) and they talk about women acting with a smile in their face while crying inside, just to fit in society or what is expected from them, when they're kind to you, they're not trying to make falling in love with them, they're just being their own way, and men tend to confuse and think they're cheating or deceiving.
Japanese friends told that "megitsune" used to be a peyorative term in Japanese culture, pretty much just like around the world, but BM is using this as a way to empower women despite the meaning itself.
When SuMetal (the lead singer) is throwing a front kick she's saying _"maiden shouldn't be uderstimated",_ that refers to a japanese mob film about some boss mafia daughter before attacking someone. During official MV instead of that SuMetal do something different, she really looks cool doing it, highly recommended to watch the MV but also take precautions just to prevent being blocked.
Megitsune is a quintessential BM song and one of the most beloved, SuMetal said she didn't mastered yet, that's why you will hear her doing sound check with this song before live concerts. My favorite version is the "Red Fox Festival" 2017 with a room full of only megitsune, you can find that at Babymetal Reactor Resource.
This was live at Budokan Arena 2014, reaching a huge goal with only 14 and 16 yo. They did two wonderful nights in a row but with some struggles, especially the first night called Red Night, this one was Black Night, in 2021 they came back to this same place to celebrate their 10 Years anniversary and take revenge from those hard days when debuting, that shows you how hard working they are.
The Kami Band this night were: Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums.
The origin of the "fox sign" is long to explain but here's a short summary for you:
The Fox God (Kitsune Sama) is the Metal God who sent these girls (and Kami Band after to help them with the metal sound) to unify the world and set them free from Jpop slavery. The kitsune sign came out by accident around the time they created the group by the girls when trying to imitate the typical metal horn sign they noticed it was similar when doing fox shadow shape, they implemented this as part of the lore, imagery, theme and live concerts, the lore is huge so take your time and keep digging and riding the Foxhole 🦊🤘
Now you know why we said "kitsune" (fox) to male fans and "megitsune" to female fans but collectively we are officially called "The One" and we even got a song dedicated to all of us with that title.
Sad to hear you're not gonna be around so soon just right in this moment when more BM songs are reaching a lot of people, hope everything gets better.
See you next time and put your kitsune up.🦊🤘🔥

Great reaction - and don't worry too much about your schedule, life happens - we'll be here again when you get back.🦊
You are right about the choreo, it is bespoke for every song meaning something and relating to the song, like in this one we had Yui and Moa dabbing powder on their faces.
You said about 'Karate' being a bit more calm - that was the lead single for the 2nd album so maybe it is a little more radio friendly than some of their other songs.
'Megitsune' is a big favourite, often coming top in fan polls and it is the song they have played live more times than any other. It is also arguably the song that showcases better than most what BABYMETAL are about and one that truly reflects their Japanese culture the best starting with the traditional instruments (shamisen or koto, I have no idea on the difference) in the intro and the lyrics about women being compared to foxes (kitsune - which also explains the fox mask Su was behind🦊) which, in Japanese mythology, are able to shape shift and take human form in order to deceive.
It is also a bit of a push back against the traditional subservient female role in Japanese society saying that is changing I think - or maybe it is - whilst also praising and celebrating the women who have played that role over the years for their strength.
They are saying that women wearing their make up and hiding their true feelings ("crying at heart, smiling at face") are not trying to deceive anybody, they are simply trying to please everybody - so they are not deceptive kitsune (foxes), they are maiden-like megitsune (female foxes or vixens) - and they are strong.
The melody used in the breakdown with the pig squeals in the middle of the song (they also use it as the intro when they play it live) is from the very well known Japanese folk song called 'Sakura Sakura' (Cherry Blossoms).
When Su pulled out the tanto (short blade) from her microphone she said "Otome wa ... nametara ikan zeyo." (Maidens ... shouldn't be underestimated). The last part of this is a famous quote from a Japanese gangster movie said by the daughter of a gang boss.

    ありがとう!
Please watch the official music videos for these songs as well, it is standard that BM is better live, but Karate and Megitsune have very good music videos as well.
Sorry if I'm wrong, but you can speak Japanese, right?
I thought so when I heard the pronunciation of Karate and megitsune.😆

Suggest you check out a very recent LIVE performance of this song on your own
Megitsune LIVE at PIA Arena 2023 the HQ Pro Shot video from the Hymnodic channel (every LIVE performance at these 2 sold out nights were epic)

Such an awesome performance. The only, I mean only slight downside is it was on Black Night so no mic for Momo...sigh. But I'm with you that performance almost melted my monitor screen.
