How much trouble can a horse get into and still win? Starlight Mesa pushes the envelope. Pink cap and saddle cloth; not even on screen when clip starts.
Inside, outside, changing gears, ducking in and out. That horse did one heck of an Emmitt Smith imitation to get to the finish line first. That was a finishing kick worthy of Zenyatta.
This was my horse...Dufus. Registered as Starlight Mesa and bred bu my good friend, Mark Durio. This colt was a real DUFUS. Never knew what he was going to do. First race got beat a mile so put him in going long with our best buddy Jockey Miguel Perez...when Perez starting getting up high and doing the windmill, you're headed for a win!
He's a good jumper now packing around a nice adult! I bought him in 2020 and sold him to a client in 2021. He's been a gem and super fun to have in the barn. I don't know why I never looked for his racing videos earlier.
@@sliane56 Always GREAT to see one of your previous "kids" get a wonderful home. He never jumped at my house but did take out a whole section of horse wire to get in with his neighbor..so he could give him a BAD TIME! Tried giving him a lovely, sweet goat for a friend but he told her she wasn't welcome in his stall. Tell his new owner hope they will prosper and enjoy his company!
Lucky for the jockey that the horse still managed to win after he was poorly ridden into a dead end. If I was the owner, I would be looking for a much betterer jockey next time.
@Tfonz Tfonz A famous Australian jockey upon retirement was asked whether he had ever pulled up a horse. He replied "I can honestly say that I have never pulled up a horse but I sure as hell put them in some impossible positions boxed in behind horses I knew were very slow. " The jockey in this race seems to have tried the same strategy but the horse got out anyway.
He wasn't just bringing the horse too close, he was bouncing his horse off of the others. I surely hope that he isn't still racing. My trail horses like to bump shoulders every now and again while trotting, which is enough to unseat me a bit, and I can only imagine the damage that force could do at a gallop.
Exactly 2 days (10-23-08) after this Donnaguska made an amazing comeback at Hawthorne, she was about 20 lengths behind at the top of the stretch and won by 2.It's on TH-cam.
eggz act lee, eh Jason...not even in the picture behind the last place horse turning for home...looked like couldn’t beat a single horse, even...& had to split horses, yet! I’ve shared it on Facebook, and gets no reaction, bro.!😞🙄😝😩😂
One of the worst rides I can think of. He had many chances to find a clear outside path with a horse who was so full of run and running at tired horses. He made so many mistakes but finally got outside and some credit is due for him not being completely stubborn, which is something I have experienced many times.
I've never seen a horse check 15 times in the stretch and still win! The Jockey appeared to be throwing a Fit, he was yelling at the other Jocks and as he crossed the finish line he let the obscenities fly! Great ride or Piss poor ride?? Horse won so has to be a great ride! 99.9% horse, .1% angry Jock!
Zenyatta has great stamina and end speed but I was more impressed by Broad Appeal in the Negishi Stakes and Rachel Alexandra in the Kentucky Oaks. Broad Appeal is a greater Endspeed-Rocket than Zenyatta
That Jock rode that Horse like he had the mortgage, car note, kids tuition and everyone from the owner/trainer to the guy who shovels chyt out the stalls, CASH on that horse to win.
Truly a horrible ride. If he simply goes wide, instead of being too cute and going inside and completely halting his horses momentum, the horse wins by five lengths or more. I also like how at the wire he seemingly taunts the jockey who was second and cut him off. Dude, you never should have been in that spot to be shut off in the first place...
Yeah, the jockey is forcing it into cracks in the wall. In the horse business, we call that splitting a saddle trap rather than letting the tuna swim wide.
after the finish line the jockey on the winning horse was happy that he won but at the same time probably super pissed at the second place jockey. you can tell as soon as they hit the wire he looks over to him as if to be saying, "What the hell are you doing out there!?!?!"
Maybe an interesting race type would be to have jockeys who are actively trying to lose. See which horse wins despite it. Only rule is the jockey cant tell the horse to run backwards.
that jokey in white jersey is a sad human being...he tried so hard to block the other guy twice...nearly injured the horses...instead of focusing on his own race...he is going to cause a horse or two to be put down due to racing injury in his career
If u want to see a good win from 30lengths behind look at the 1983 melbourne cup.Kiwi came from nowhere and also 1986 cox plate one of best finishes in racing I eva seen with Bonecrusher and Our Waverly star breaking away and being head to head for last 900 meter or so
Kiwi's win from 30 lengths behind in the large Melbourne Cup field was far more impressive than the nags in the video. KIWI MELBOURNE CUP 1983: th-cam.com/video/tPdRocw7o10/w-d-xo.html BONECRUSHER 1986 COX PLATE: th-cam.com/video/UDU91ekTnsg/w-d-xo.html Don't forget Precious Robe, the "Bernborough of the Bush" at Flemington racecourse in 1971. Not as good as Kiwi , but he was red hot odds on favourite & top weight at Flemington in 1971 when he came from last to first down the long Flemington straight to win by several lengths in a similar manner to Kiwi. Precious Robe won all his races that way including the Sale & Moe cups in 1971 but was retired before the Melbourne Cup.
Victorious was a speedster who won the Newmarket at Flemington in 1962. He was not a fast finisher like Kiwi, but was probably the fastest horse in the world over 3 or 4 furlongs and a notorious stopper at the turn. Unfortunately the shortest race here is longer than 3 furlongs. In his later years Victorious ran in 5 furlong races in Gippsland, he won many but was often run down in the straight. The public knew him well and laughed when they entered "Old Vic" in a mile race at Sale as they knew he would stop on the turn. Well, "Old Vic" took off like a bat out of Hell as usual. When he reached the turn, he stopped as usual but Old Vic was a rogue who didn't understand that the turn in a mile race is lot further away than in a 5 furlong sprint. When Old Vic reached the turn at Sale, he stopped for his usual breather & enjoyed the scenery down the long straight. Fortunately, he was so far ahead, he won by a tiny margin as the horses flashed past him past the finish line. He never ran in a mile race again and finished his long career as a prolific winner in 5 furlong races.
Racing is pretty much like football....a lot of punches and pushing out there on the field, but these are things most don't notice. I'd say that 65% of the races are questionable, and this is one of the reasons video has been useful (replay, catch detail). Still, if there's a lot of money in it, video won't serve much.
U don't know how difficult it is to control a horse but I have been a horse player and enthusiast for over 50 years and the jock k ew he had a tonof horse so he made several very bad decisions I hope the horse was o.k. and was able to run again
miguel perez and trust me he blows. btw this horse broke his maiden, means the horse won for the first time. horse has 6 wins in 42 career starts and 0-4 this year
No offense, but that jockey was an idiot. He was bringing his horse WAY too close to the other horses. Could of easily knocked one off balance or clipped heels and killed the horses and/or the jockeys.
how are you , If anyone else wants racing tips try Banfan Turbo Racing Genie (do a google search)? Ive heard some interesting things about it from my colleague great!
Time for a new jockey. The horse is terrific to put up with that and still win.
lmao wtf was that
Agreed. That horse won in spite of that ride.
Inside, outside, changing gears, ducking in and out. That horse did one heck of an Emmitt Smith imitation to get to the finish line first.
That was a finishing kick worthy of Zenyatta.
horse didn't win because of the jockey--horse won despite the jockey
The jockey was blind, drunken, stoned or even worse...
+george mcleary george that comment could apply to many races. been waiting all my life to see someone else say it.
This was my horse...Dufus. Registered as Starlight Mesa and bred bu my good friend, Mark Durio.

The horse that got second would have been disqualified even had it won.
He wasn't just bringing the horse too close, he was bouncing his horse off of the others. I surely hope that he isn't still racing. animelover462 - you. Mean the horse was lunging outward. No jockey steers the horse into another. Going about 35mph, that's deadly.
So, the bumping is intentional?
Exactly 2 days (10-23-08) after this Donnaguska made an amazing comeback at Hawthorne, she was about 20 lengths behind at the top of the stretch and won by 2.It's on TH-cam.
That's right. I love that race. I think it might still on the Hawthorne website in their race replays too.
No sorry, just goes back to 2009. I was sure I had seen it on there.
th-cam.com/video/mO6vm7TIvrI/w-d-xo.html
Most amazing comeback ever in horse racing in my opinion. To this day, I still am in awe.
eggz act lee, eh Jason...not even in the picture behind the last place horse turning for home...looked like couldn’t beat a single horse, even...& had to split horses, yet! I’ve shared it on Facebook, and gets no reaction, bro.!😞🙄😝😩😂
That is one incredible video, wow! That horse was all over the place. He was definitely determined to win that race!
Crappy rider. Had a ton of horse under him and tried to get him beat every way possible!
Crazy Horse ...
And
Crazy Horse Race.

Checked 15 times ? WHERE and WHEN ?? How do you know what the jockey said ??? YOU NEED GLASSES !!!!
That horse had trouble half a dozen times, any one of which would be cause to lose. Amazing determination and lack of fear by that horse.
That horse is as green as a string bean and still won. Hats off to the jockey for keeping them somewhat under control.
Are you on drugs? Wasn't a green horse, jock should have his license taken away.
Jock made HORRIBLE decisions over and over. Horse win inspite of the awful ride.
That's new mexico for ya
So this is where all expert jockeys hang out.
Impressed by this? Watch Zenyatta's races. :-)
Zenyatta has great stamina and end speed but I was more impressed by Broad Appeal in the Negishi Stakes and Rachel Alexandra in the Kentucky Oaks. Broad Appeal is a greater Endspeed-Rocket than Zenyatta
Seabiscuit= #1
Broad Appeal would have never beaten Zenyatta. Not on her best day.
Winx. But for come-from-behind, I doubt anything can beat Calidoscopio's two great US wins!
I personally loved her last race. Cashed a great pick 4
That Jock rode that Horse like he had the mortgage, car note, kids tuition and everyone from the owner/trainer to the guy who shovels chyt out the stalls, CASH on that horse to win.
WoW, never give up 🏆 inspiring
well, it isn't impossible if it happens, god I love him
Truly a horrible ride. If he simply goes wide, instead of being too cute and going inside and completely halting his horses momentum, the horse wins by five lengths or more. best ride i ever saw. u know how hard it is to win like that????
I don’t know what he is but a jockey he’s not.
I saw Scotts View do something like that.
I don't know what race you were looking at that jockey did a heck of a job to win that race
Now that is RACE RIDING....!!!!!
after the finish line the jockey on the winning horse was happy that he won but at the same time probably super pissed at the second place jockey. you can tell as soon as they hit the wire he looks over to him as if to be saying, "What the hell are you doing out there!?!?!"
I would have told the jock when he brought him back to get his as* off, he didn't deserve to get his picture taken.
Maybe an interesting race type would be to have jockeys who are actively trying to lose. See which horse wins despite it. Only rule is the jockey cant tell the horse to run backwards.
When I bet on them they never win this way for me. Bet if I had bet on it. The horse would still be trying to get out of trouble.lol
that jokey in white jersey is a sad human being...he tried so hard to block the other guy twice...nearly injured the horses...instead of focusing on his own race...he is going to cause a horse or two to be put down due to racing injury in his career
That was cool.
That was extremely dangerous!! He didn't get dq'd for this?? Hooves could have gotten clipped and disaster could have happened

what the hell... o_O got shut off and *still* made the run. amazing
what is the jockey doing?! he is doing misstakes all the way to the finish.. With another jockey the horse would win 10 lenghts.
What a hopeless jockey
Good stuff!
rider had a machine zap zap
Worst Jockey in Horse Racing History ☝️😂
The jockey was clueless, one of the worst jockeys I have ever seen
Jose Torres..jockey
What an absolutely HORRID ride by the jockey! Simply HORRID!
omg, horse told the horse moving lol
Hope they DQ’d that #7 horse,LMFAO,if that wasn’t the most obvious doped up horse I’ve ever witnessed in a race.LOL
All that horse he had and the jockey keeps trying to split horses. A lot of bad riding in that race. Especially the winner.
Jockey seems drunk

Wins despite terrible ride. I don't need to know the name of the jockey to know that jockey is horrible.
U don't know how difficult it is to control a horse but I have been a horse player and enthusiast for over 50 years and the jock k ew he had a tonof horse so he made several very bad decisions I hope the horse was o.k. and was able to run again
Bad jockey 😝
just another day at the office
I don't know if that was a bad ride or just bad luck..
How far would he have won by with a good jockey .. 🤪
lol jockey was just trolling
Zia Park Tue 10-21-08 R11 - Jockey Miguel Perez
#2 Glenwood Auggie was disqualified from 2nd and placed 3rd behind #3 Diamond Desperado for interference in the stretch
miguel perez and trust me he blows. btw this horse broke his maiden, means the horse won for the first time. horse has 6 wins in 42 career starts and 0-4 this year
go look up Futura in South Africa watch he's races
7 wins including this race too lol
Blinkers plz
horse overcame that useless plug of a rider
who was that jock? what a useless plug! must have bet on the horse that ran second, cause he did everything in his will to get the horse beat
these jockeys are so horrible hahahaha
Bad jockey --- end of story.
amazing what you can do with a battery
NO! He started dumb yea. But after that all of em' got in front of him and it wasn't his fault.
No offense, but that jockey was an idiot. He was bringing his horse WAY too close to the other horses. Could of easily knocked one off balance or clipped heels and killed the horses and/or the jockeys.
Is it US?
This was a terrible ride. Give him credit though, all the bad trip was negated once she won.
turn that horse loose a little sooner next time.....
That was crap
You should have secretariat winning by 30+ lengths as the best race!
shit of a ride
WTF
horrible jockey, good ability from the horse, obviously
Worlds worst jockey.
That's actually a shitty ride.... just get the horse in the clear and win easily.... horrible ride, regardless of the win
Worst ride I've ever seen.
bad ride took it to outside on home corner would of shit it in
how are you , If anyone else wants racing tips try Banfan Turbo Racing Genie (do a google search)? Ive heard some interesting things about it from my colleague great!
Terrible ride, jock should of got fired for that one
Disgraceful riding, not professional at all. If he was in the UK he'd be banned for life!. Most likely slow pace race.
NOT INCREDIBLE !!!
terrible riding,i could ride better,i have no legs ha
