    Hope to see more footage of the East and West Extensions for Lines 1 and 3 soon. There has been a huge amount of progress on both. The Sneak Peeks are really cool as well. I hope to see you and fellow Rail Fans and TH-camrs for Lines 2 and 4 Launch Day!!!

      Hello Eric. We will be there for the openings that’s guaranteed. Stay tuned for East and West extension videos. Granted there won’t be any trains moving but the progress is equally exciting. We also have a recent video in which we visited the Western tunnel.

      @RailFansCanada I can confirm that Tracks are going in all over the alignment. The Plinths are being installed in the Pinecrest Trench with Rails and Ties seen at Pinecrest Station and in the Guideway towards Bayshore Station. Lots of Tracks being welded and strung between Lincoln Fields and Algonquin Station as well. I see that area daily going to work and back.

    • @spinladen1774
      @spinladen1774 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I thought the slowness is the issue with the wheels? Too much friction with the orginal design?

    • @RailFansCanada
      @RailFansCanada  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @spinladen1774 the issue with the wheels is on Line 1 ( Blair to Tunneys) this is a separate line and is not affected by this issue. Lines 2/4 are vastly different and the same issues should not be experienced here as the technology is different and a lot of it was previously in service since the O-Train first opened in 2001 so it’s quite proven.

    This project need more positif marketing throughout internet and social media and make it attractive, make it closer to people that will use it in the future, and communicate much better with users. It seems there is a problem in communication with the public. The project is a good futuristic concept but it was badly conceived by cutting here and there, by matching different materials from different providers it was a bas idea. you never try to save money on big infrastructure like this one, it's for the future generation. The project is amazing so some transparency on what went wrong and why, will be good and it will make people interested and interactive. I am proud of Ottawa city for having this amazing infrastructure. We love it, you make our life easier and much confortable, so thank you. Please find a better way to promote the project and make it desirable.❤❤❤❤❤

    I have been working on this project. I've delivered and poured concrete to every single station and tunnel segment. I have personally delivered about 25,000 m³.
    Watching this project from start to finish is spectacular. I have a lot of photos of before and after.
    If the host of this channel would like some exclusive photos from interiors of tunnels, stations and construction sites, just respond to this message. I would love to share all of these photos instead of just keeping them on my phone to show friends from time to time. I also have some video clips.

      It's for light rail only. No freight will be on these lines.

    • @RailFansCanada
      @RailFansCanada  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Since it is still considered an active railway, freight trains can go on certain sections of tracks (particularly from Walkley Yard to the NRC and north of this) should deliveries by rail be necessary. They are relatively infrequent however. Typically, those passages are coordinated not to interfere with regular operations of the line, either outside of operating hours, or a planned service gap.
      The new sections of track south of the NRC were not built to accommodate freight traffic, and as such won't see freight trains. -David

      @spitfirenutspitfirenut4835 No, this is just wrong. But to keep upfront costs down, you can use DEMU's. These can later be converted to electric EMU's. EMU operations are better then diesel operations in EVERY aspect.

    Looking forward to hearing reports of broke wheels every other month… modern society needs a good public transit system… but, let’s be honest, Canada doesn’t know jack about trains. I won’t be holding my breath for this system to be worthwhile. This is just virtue signaling… not proper infrastructure.
