Another wonderful instrumental video. You are the first person I've come across who recommends feeling the upper and lower stitches to check if the tension is right. I have been doing this instinctively lately. Great tip!
Oh wow Alex! I think the most amazing tip you gave me was that you could do a reverse stitch by lifting up the presser foot while you’re sewing! One of my model 66 Singers doesn’t have a reverse lever. Does that work for my 2 treadles too? Also, super fascinated about the knee lifter being designed for injured soldiers. I thought it was designed for industrial machines to help with production times.
Thank you Alex for looking after ‘Betsy’ before I got her for my birthday almost 2 years ago now, bought from Thimbelinas in Bexhill. I love my 99k and I use this machine more than any other as it gives me no trouble at all ✂️and she is used almost every day.
You need to have a PAT tester. I used to have to be trained in ohms and resistance to use the equipment but new models in recent years are super easy. Plug the unit to be tested in and it passes or fails.
Hi Alex so glad I found you videos I bought a 201K this week and your videos are so helpful. What can I use to give the inside a wipe, that base bit when you tilt the machine back as I don't know if it is paint or what it's the same colour as the one in your video above. I also ordered your book so can't wait to get that and read all about the 201K. Thank you.
thank you so much for this tutorial. i just purchased a 99k with no reverse stitch and i find that the stitch regulator knob is a little hard to turn - is it good to oil that as well? My best guess is yes but I wonder what you think? Also the pressure foot adjuster at the top left -- thank you so much for any advice and again for your great videos. p.s. my machine is a hand crank model and i love her so much -- i named her, ClaraBelle. cheers! :)

The tip about lifting the presser foot for reverse is amazing! Once again great job, Alex!
Great video. Also, I have never seen that method for reverse shown. Thank you!
Enjoyed your video. I think the 99 is a beautiful little machine.
Always great and always appreciated. My 99 sits because of no reverse. Now I know. Love it.
Thank you Alex! You're the best.
I so appreciate your insights and helpful instructions. My 99 is ready for its oiling.

Certainly many industrials do have knee lifts. I love em.

هذه المكينة قمة الروعة وتستحق الذكر سنجر +مكينة بفف فقط لأغير
I'd love if you would expand on the PAT testing equipment at home.

Show us how to do the motor, please
Great video!
Thank you. I think your red felt oil pad is missing in bobbin tray at bottom

Alex, Great videos. Have you ever worked on a 99-10 and were the made of aluminum.
No, I would love to see one of those.
What cleaning fluid do you recommend to use?
Do you currently have any hand crank machines for sale? Thank you Alex.
That's made like a 66
Hate to think the whales are gone because I sew.........
Actually you have screped the machine, attaching a motor! Never seen using vacuum cleaner!
