"me living in a third world country slowly saving up to buy a $50 chinese manual lens for my mft camera"
🙋
Nothing wrong with a good number of those, I've got a 25mm & 7.5mm both by 7Artisans for M43 and I love them
@@gideonliddiardphotography yep I actually have the TTArtisan 25mm, 35mm and 50mm before, when I had a Sony Nex. But I sold them to get the em10ii body cause I really want to have an evf. Itll take time but ill slowly build my lens options again.
Any camera is capable of shooting an emotionally compelling image!Live your best life and know that your art has value beyond the camera one uses!
I live in Mexico. In the Mercado, I use a used $20 Canon 400D (10mp, 2006) with a used $25 Canon 15-55mm IS lens (both from Ebay). Great results! Locals respect my serious-looking camera equipment.
I see why the D200 was on your list on the other video. I guess at that price, even with the bayer issues I would recommend it too.
I think the 22mm on the eos-m works out to 35mm (1.6 not 1.5 crop). The later eos-ms are very capable, the m6ii is basically a mirrorless version of 90d. The original eos-m1 is a great video camera with magic lantern fw. I also have the sigma lens for the eos-m, m43 and e-mount .. which causes of confusion if i am picking them up without checking the back lens caps! Note when getting a 5d the shutter is rated for 150k, but many go way past that, but spares are a problem. Anyway great video as always. Happy snapping.
That's great to hear!
Ocassionally you can find the updated GX85 (updated over the GX7) for about $550 on sale around Christmas time (with a lens) . Of course even the GX85 is an older camera by today's standards and is about 8 years old at this point, but still one that seems to fetch a good amount of money even on the used market. I think that it did address some of the EVF issues found on the older GX series cameras although it wasn't fully resolved until I think the GX9 series but those are closer to $1k in price.
By far the Olympus OM-D M10 models are among my favorites, and I had one but sold it to move up to FF, but wish I hadn't as it's hard to find one that isn't over priced IMO as they still go for about $300 used which is more than I would care to spend on one (also considering a new one with the latest tech is only $700 for the body). Oddly, I didn't know they had IBIS until after I had sold mine (i thik I had a Mark II) and it makes me wish I had kept it even more.
You’re great George I love your videos.
Thanks I appreciate that!
Literally had a 5D classic and 50/1.7 turn up today to mess around with (and a EOS 5 35mm as well)
Sounds great!
good video review, I have the Lumix ZS60 (TZ80) and love using it. Got it refurbished. I also have the Canon G7xMii and it is also awesome. Both are available at reasonable price.
Thanks for sharing!
I bought a D700 for fun. It’s one of my favorite cameras for image quality.
Omd em10 mkii, pen pl8 and gx7 - which one will you suggest for beginners who wanna get into street photography? One downside for pl8 is no viewfinder but still like the small body as have small hands. Found all of them around the same pricing
Earlier this year I g ot a Fuji X-T10 with 18-55mm lens from CeX in Grade A mint as new condition for £415 and that's with a two year warranty.
I've had a few A grade items from CeX, they've always been in amazing nick, boxed as new.
Thanks for sharing!
Hi! This video was perfectly timed and what I was looking for lol. In the market for a small, interchangeable lens camera that I can take around with me all the time. Thx mate!
Thanks for sharing!
I also have a used EM10Mii that is awesome to use as well.
That's great!
It's when they start calling an old camera "retro" or "vintage" that we start seeing these insane prices for these compact cameras. So many rivaling the cost of new cameras!
I got a Fujifilm X-T10 for a little over $400 with both a good quality body and lens. One of the best deals of my life
Sadly the peaking is on the bad side.
Xt20 fix this issue, but the price is still high.
Thanks for sharing!
I see you have one of those cheep spotlight attachments to your aperture light.. You like it? also great video as always!
Oh yeah it's amazing, I wasted money on fresnels a while ago then sold them for the "snoot" great for focused hard lighting!
I have a classic 5d and it is a great basic full frame for us people with real world budgets. I got mine with three high quality zooms for $300 . With my small hands I don’t tend to use it that much .
Thanks for sharing!
I got a omd em1 mkii for £275 with extra battery bargin. Just need a lens.
I love my sony A5100 with the TTArtisan 27mm f2.8 for street photography
Thanks for sharing!
Since I've been using a kit lens, I've been thinking about getting a prime lens. And the Sigma 19mm art lens is on the list of my choices.
As a beginner just wanting to get into shooting with a prime lens.
May I ask, is it worth getting a used Sigma 19mm or am I better off buying more affordable manual prime lenses from Chinese manufacturers? Thank you. 😊
If you can swing either the Sigma 19mm or the sony 20mm for E mount that would be good, if you're looking at MFT then there are also AF versions available. If you're okay with MF then yes a Chinese 3rd party would be good too!
excellent video. what do u think about the sony a6100? still worth buying?
Never used one but it was always the more entry level option, of you can get an A6400 it's a nice level up
even though i think the most important thing in a street camera is high iso performance, I would gladly shoot a nikon d200 for the CCD sensor. what a great recommendation. i know it's contradictory, but i did put my money where my mouth is and got myself a H4d-50 that can only shoot iso 200 (if..) CCD is such a gem.
Thanks for sharing!
Great line-up, for me the even more fascinating thing about the m43 cameras (and some APS-C, like A5000) is that you can buy many of them with multiple lenses and even a bag for A$160, so less than US$100. They are often advertised on Marketplace/Gumtree simply as camera and sold by people they were gifted to or who bought them with an aim to grow in photography, but never ended up using them. Never happens with a 5D or D700 though, as random people would never buy them. That's why at least here in Australia where we don't have MPB the street prices are very different.
Exactly! So many kits can be bought from those holding onto "a camera" so you can get great deals
@GeorgeHolden ha, said it at the wring time! Just saw a G2 with 14-140mm and 100-300mm for A$750, I saw similar kits for less than half the price. Sometimes people also want A$1000 for an E-M10.2 with a kit lens (and not the pancake). I guess the more professional a camera looks, the more money some of those people want for it🤣
@@buggersofoz always how it goes! I do love Aus Gumtree, had so many deals on there but the UK version is like dodgy eBay 😅
@GeorgeHolden it is pretty good, but atm is between Marketplace and eBay in terms of well informed sellers and hence good deals. eBay is the easiest and you get fairest price when selling, but auctions lost due to work meetings can be sooo painful, like a Panny 7-14mm that sold for $300 at 11.30 AM on a weekday and I didn't get it 😜
The best listings Are the ones who just say ‘camera’ 🎉
Perfekt Timing :)
but sadly I don’t have any money at the moment
I understand
LUMIX G7 & 25mm 1.7 (50mm full frame equivalent) 🔥🔥🔥
Love these videos, can't wait till you focus on old cameras that have decent video specs, IBIS, mic jack input etc...
I cover street photography not videography!
@@GeorgeHolden I understand, but there is some mild crossover? Even if it's not the best, but the olympus e-m5 ii comes to mind but the AF is atrocious.
I'm still have the Canon EOS M3 with kit lens in my school, the result is still impressive, especially about the color. I'm quite often using it for school documentation as a pair cameras. My only complaint about the Canon EOS M3 is that it doesn't have an EVF, which is very annoying for me.
...and the M5 is still stupidly expensive despite its age.
Thanks for sharing!
You can get an EVF, either the evf-dc1 or dv2. They are still 150 plus second hand though. I use them on my m3 and m6ii and they are good, but pricey.
which one would you suggest for street togging ( for a beginner ) ?
E-M10 👍 genuinely one of my most recommended cameras since I have reviewed one, such good deals too
I bought my Pentax ME Super for £23, postage included, no problems at all. Shit's fire.
Amazing!
My first ever camera in the 80’s. The black and white film was sublime, nothings ever matched it. Sadly the camera got smashed after a fight with a drunk guy in a nightclub in the 90’s.
The Nikon D700 is such an awesome camera in terms of IQ. If it were not so heavy, I would have been taking it everywhere.
@GeogeHolden how about Fuji XT-20 plus TTartisan 27mm f2.8?
I'm a fan of the X-T20 and will be trying the TTartisan 27mm soon, I think it would be a good combo - I have heard AF issues with the 27mm however
@@GeorgeHolden i have an XT20 and picked up yesterday a TTartisan 27mm to be my go to lens, but not tested yet.
Does MPB have a division in North America? I'm sort of confused by the pricing in this video. If these are American dollars and there is no MPB in NA, then if one ordered something from MPB wouldn't the prices be much more from shipping and import fees?
Sorry, I'll add the USA links too - MPB is in UK, USA and EU
Great ! I love affordable cameras. I've had a few of these. Have, I mean.
Awesome!
Do you now, whit the Ricoh 2 you can set the focus point in meter, and then you just pull it out (ladies) and just shoot ,and you got it :)
Thanks for sharing!
can you do one for camcorders?
I don't use any!
I would say as a British content creator, as admirable as it is to cater to the US market using dollar currency, you can easily put both currencies up at the same time. Good content regardless though pal.
Thanks Derren, I think the USD figure is the most relatable across other currencies, viewers in Asia as well have a better grasp on USD conversion over GBP which is very niche compared to USD or Euro but I see your point 👍
Interesting line-up of cheapish cameras. Personally, I wouldn't spend anything like that amount on any system that is obsolete. The systems may be interesting and "legendary" iow Pentax Q, Nikon 1 or Canon M, but based on the lack of support from the manufacturer, I dont think there are anything other than "play" value there. No repair support, no new replacement items if anything croaks etcetera. I have a tiny Nikon 1 system consisting of a v1 with the optional flash, a J4, one working 10-30 pancake, two regular 10-30 non working and a 30-110, and I have less than €200 in it. It is an interesting little system, with great colours and such, but nothing I would consider to be anything primary. It is also most likely just a matter of time before the two working lenses goes down if the track record on the Nikon 1 lenses is anything to go by.
Thanks for sharing!
Me trying not to feed my financially disastrous GAS: oh no
Not encouraging immediate purchases!
Perfect timing
Cheers!
Hey @@GeorgeHolden , I'm heavily weighing whether to get the Nikon D200 or the Olympus E-300. Both are CCD sensor cameras and have a cult following.
@@myam754 I temporarily had the Olympus but due to lens selection my advice would be the Nikon, it's definitely these more realistically usable of the two
@@GeorgeHolden Thanks George! Loved the presets update, btw!
@@myam754 thank you! More coming soon!
i only got $169, which camera should i buy ?
What ever you can get. Just get something and start taking photos.
OG Canon DSLR with a nifty 50
cool 🆒 yay 😁
Cheers!
I prefere calling this class of mirrorless cameras as "E.V.I.L. cameras" (Electronic viewfinder/ interchangeable lens)
I quite like that 😅
Scary George will appear from the shadows, he's never happy lol
He's always lurking in the dark
Hahaha he hasn't been around lately...
He even has me looking over my shoulder when I'm about to purchase new gear @@GeorgeHolden
Buy one of mine I have way too many.
Sure!
I would double it and give it to the next person

Sony a100 is cheaper and is ccd
I'll take a look!
since when is Z called zed --
Since the language you are speaking is English. We pronounce it zed. George is English so he says zed.
Yup I do be of the English orientation, so I spell colour with a u as well
Say it however you prefer. NOT an actual issue.
