I just love this pure American story. A man, born in Germany, collects the music of the Mexican border for the benefit of the whole world. This is my America.
well , as a German in 'exile' in the Low-Landz ,,, and with all my ( wife's .. ) family in 'Metchico' i could possiblemente say/comment - what a real , pure 'German' story .... and of course there were So Many !!!!!!

As a Mexican, Chris Strachwitz is a national treasure on both sides of the border. He did what the Mexican (Mexican-American) people should have done and should appreciate more, our music and culture.

Which Mexicans are you talking about? Cause Northern Mexican have always appreciated their music and continue to play it today. It’s the Mexicans who don’t come from northern Mexico who have always made fun of and stereotyped northern Mexican music and culture. Non-northern Mexicans don’t appreciate this music cause it’s not the culture form their region so they don’t have it in their blood as opposed to northern Mexicans. What’s funny now is that many of the ese non-northern Mexicans now imitate northern Mexican culture such as the cowboy outfit and norteño music and dance.

I am so impressed with this documentary. It was such a thrill to see Isabel Spiegel at the end as editor.. I have such respect and admiration for your creativity and talent. I only wih my father were alive to see this. Congratulations

There is no way of describing Chris' influence on music. I love Arhoolie and all he stood for, thank you CRD (?)distribution in the UK for importing the albums

Sorry to have to criticize this poorly edited interview with me - right at the start I talk about my love for the great duetos - this should have been followed by the very brief but under modulated performance by Los Alegres de Teran - and it continues unfortunately in this vain even though my interview I thought was quite appropriate - but just poorly edited! I hope I can get the entire interview for our archive! At least you get a few snippets from some of the videos and films I capture and/or produced!
