3 years later while holding my tabA the screen fell on my face and a connector was loose. This video helped me in identifying which was the right one. Now I'm off to order some screen adhesive.
Thanks for the video man! Probs gonna try this soon, fingers crossed I can set my old one up for my mom so that she can use that while I use her iPad for school!
Hi just a question. How can you tell the different from a broken glass or a broken screen..I dont want to buy a whole screen only to find out its was only the glass that was broken...Btw love this video video, its people like you that make our life a little bit easy..
Personally I would do both as you will get a better end result. If there is Inky marks on the screen or you can't see a full picture then you will need LCD and glass. If the picture is fine then it's just glass
Do I need to replace the tape on the main chassis if so where do I get tape? Does it come with double sided tape on the new replace base LCD? Just received my screen from replace base. Brilliant company! S
The tape that will remain on the table will not be very good once you remove the old screen so yes you will need to replace it. If you go on to amazon or ebay you will find Stix ultra sticky tape that will more than do the job.
Hi Nick, thank you for taking the time to share the process. My younger brother just shattered the glass on his tablet, but I understand that it's much easier to simply replace the entire screen assembly. I'll be buying the screen from Replace Base as suggested, but I wanted to ask a couple of questions. Firstly, which thickness of Stix2 Ultra Sticky tape are you using here? Is it 3, 3.5, or 6 mm? And secondly, would it be necessary to have the adhesive along the edges, or can you place it along the plastic section of the inner frame?
Hi Dylan, the screen is bonded to the glass so unless you have a steady hand and a seperating machine I would just go with the whole assembly instead of the glass. Stix tape I use is the 6mm and I cut it down with a craft knife if needed but the 3.5MM will do the job as well. You can put it on the inner frame but I found it easier to put on the back of the screen. Hope this helps :)
I have seen it done but personally dont rate it. Try these guys for screens they are not too expensive and this link will give you £5 off your 1st purchase: www.replacebase.co.uk/?awraf=6F545D395F7224147AA01

Hi, I took all of the steps really carefully however I have tested the screen before fixing the screen and found the touch function doesn’t work. Any ideas would be welcome 🙏
Thanks for the guide, I replaced the screen but it's black, the device appears to work as I hear a tone when I plug the charger in but i'm not sure if it's completely dead or not. Whats the next step in investigation?
Hopefully you tested it before reassembly If it's a blank screen then carefully unhook the cables from the screen on the screen carefully blow the connector to make sure it's clean look at the ribbon cable, is thers any damage has the ribbon cable come loose from the tablet side? have you moved over thebits from the old screen and connected them properly to the new screen. very important if you don't know how much charge is left, suggest you give it a 30 minute charge reinsert the ribbon cables making sure not to touch the end that goes into the connect now carefully start the tablet, watch the screen as you switch on hopefully you now have a functioning screen, test the touch works, power down then press the screen intothe Tablet taking carefully to line it up and the go around the edges squeezing the edges so the tape/glue can do it's job if this did not work! was the old screen damaged but visually was the screen working. if yes then re install to eliminate fault with table if all else fails find a so.id wall and back your head against it. At this stage I'd ask for a replacement to be sent out
@@javeedsultan8484 turns out it was human error, I just needed to soft reset the tablet, I didn't find this out until after a replacement was sent and new connector!

Great video. Do you have video for replacing charging port for that same device?
No, sorry
Thank you very much for this explanation in the video, and I would also be very happy to link to the purchase of this particular screen
Head over to ReplaceBase website and you will find it.

You will probably need to go to a specialist to repair it.
After 2 years of abuse the screen finally cracked, any idea on how I could repair it?

Sounds like you might have a defective part, it happens unfortunately.

Hopefully you tested it before reassembly
If it's a blank screen then carefully unhook the cables from the screen
on the screen carefully blow the connector to make sure it's clean
look at the ribbon cable, is thers any damage
has the ribbon cable come loose from the tablet side?
have you moved over thebits from the old screen and connected them properly to the new screen.
very important if you don't know how much charge is left, suggest you give it a 30 minute charge
reinsert the ribbon cables making sure not to touch the end that goes into the connect
now carefully start the tablet, watch the screen as you switch on
hopefully you now have a functioning screen, test the touch works, power down
then press the screen intothe Tablet taking carefully to line it up and the go around the edges squeezing the edges so the tape/glue can do it's job
if this did not work!
was the old screen damaged but visually was the screen working.
if yes then re install to eliminate fault with table
if all else fails find a so.id wall and back your head against it.
At this stage I'd ask for a replacement to be sent out
