Ibushi being overcome with soo much emotion and crying in the press conference got me legit choked up as well, to fight for so long and work so hard, to finally be at the pinnacle is something anyone can believe in and work towards themselves everyday, its a great story and a great lesson. He did it ALL ON HIS OWN and most success you achieve in life is when you are alone and determined. Im also glad Ibushi didn't need to have a cliché heel turn and fundamentally change who he was to be at the top and be world champion. He never needed a group, he never needed to be "edgy" , he didn't need dirty tactics, all he did was stay true to himself and bring his talent and sheer force of will up to another level. Wrestling needs more characters like that, THIS IS HOW YOU WRITE A BABYFACE, TAKE NOTES!!!
I wish he relinquish the intercontinental belt because so much talents are lingering at the back waiting for their breakouts. They can make their names with the intercontinental belt.
The IC title is really not a breakout title in NJPW as it is in WWE tho. It's more of a consolation prize for people who deserve to be world champion but can't due to reasons relating to long term booking. What I think will happen is, Okada will eventually challenge for the world title and the world title ONLY, as he associates himself more with the world championship and not the IC championship. That's the only wrestler who can make this claim without damaging his character I think.
