The real reason JDF said no was revealed by close friend Aaron Schoenke who's the director of Bat In the Sun's projects like "Legend of the White Dragon". He basically said that the script for this particular special was originally gonna focus on Tommy regaining his old powers, but Netflix and/or Hasbro changed the script for the 30th anniversary of MMPR and being about the Rangers fighting Rita again, especially after one of their own, Trini, is K.I.A., so this was the first and only Power Rangers project to which he said no, when in the past, he had no problem doing them. Amy Jo Johnson didn’t want to wear the uniform anymore but could’ve at least made an appearance in the movie as a retired Power Ranger. Maybe be alphas assistant back at headquarters. after Trini death she decided to retire so they called up Kat. As for Jason, they could’ve made something up like he was badly injured and in the hospital after the battle with Rita so they called up Rocky. I think that would’ve fit the story a lot better.
Kat did fine she was and is just a perfect pink ranger as the original Kimberly either way most might look at both equally as the original both perfect in all ways as pink kat did play in many episodes as the pink she deserve it as much as Kimberly known as Amy Jo Johnson
The Movie was great. It had such Nostalgia. Too bad they couldn't get everyone because of circumstances. And it shows you don't need a Big Budget like Disney to make a good movie also.
Well the original Yellow Ranger died. A long long time ago, hence her also dying in the special.....Next you're going to ask why the Green Ranger didn't return either. He's also passed, a lot more recently though. As for Red and Pink, I'm guessing monies. It's usually money.
I take it you didn't actually watch the video, also remember Jason David Frank died after the filming of the special, he had stated he did not want to come back.
also Amy Joe stated that the reason she didn't come back may have been because she couldn't go to New Zealand for a month, or because she just didn't want to wear the spandex again at the age of 50.
@@saiyan4414 i just wanted to make a slight correction, aside from the scenes where her helmet was removed, she never wore the spandex suit, the action scenes were from the Japanese show while she only had a role in the "Dub" of Power Rangers. i just wanted to clarify that fact, this of course applies to all the other US Power Ranger stars.

It was filmed in New Zealand, which has insane vaccine laws for work as well so im assuming full cast and crew needed to be immunized and go through a quarantine on arrival which im sure some actors didnt wanna do
Simply put, AJ didn't want to be a part of it. Austin couldn't be there because of his legal troubles. And Thuy and Jason are dead. Jason had already declined to appear before his death. END OF STORY!!

He can't leave the country while the case is ongoing. It was filmed in New Zealand. Innocent until proven guilty still means he couldn't fly internationally.
according to Aaron from bat in the sun, who worked with JDF on several projects over the years, including JDF'S white dragon movie, the reason that JDF did not want to be in the movie or cosmic fury was because of the way that he was treated by Saban, Hasbro, and Boom studios. Apparently the original script for the movie was going to be taken from the white dragon movie and JDF was not going to let it happen.
We know all ready bro. You mad late with information, we know Austin St. John is dealing with legal issues prohibiting his appearance, Amy Jo Johnson and MMPR/Netflix could not come to a reasonable deal to justify her appearance. JDF well before he Self-Deleted (God Bless his Soul) he attempted to work with MMPR on some projects and they just could not support him and his vision even though he is the most popular Ranger of all time, he just could not get them to work with him. The special was worth it. Zack and Billy did more than enough to hold it down as the 2-OGs from Day one. Perhaps a CGI reboot that takes inspiration from Boom Studios Comics because they have made the Rangers more badass than ever before. Likely a good prequel of Zordon and Rita would be nice to flush out the back story.
Some recording came out after JDFs death that showed some of other actors in bad light. In the recording he paid Walter Emanuel Jones to have his friend (or him) stop bad mouthing JDF behind the scenes. Jones was also bit angry that JDF was “taking” chances away from him, but it ended up being that JDF did not always take booking fee for events, but used them to advertise himself (which gave him more events and led to him making better money) Austin St. John hired event manager that tweeted that he (event manager) was happy that JDF was dead. Plus Austin is in business with JDFs disowned son that apparently did not understand that when a woman says no, it means no. The texts that came out between Johnny Yong Bosh and JDF about Karan Ashley (2nd yellow ranger) and her project the order that she crowd funded only for it to be mysteriously shut down during 1st day of filming (Johnny Bosh donated his own money to make it as well) show how much a lot of rangers disliked each other. JDF was listening to Bosh as he vented about how he was treated by her after he put in the money and work on the project, and he advised him to distance himself from the whole mess. While JDF had a really good relationship with many of the ranger actors, he had strong dislike for 2 to 3.
No, Yost was bullied for being gay the last time he was on Power Rangers in the 90's during the 4th season, which is why he left the show in the first place, and didn't come back for years. His appearance in Once and Always, is the first time he had anything to do with Power Rangers since then.
So depressing, just like what happened to Carrie Fisher during the filming of Star Wars the last jedi, and Chadwick Boseman in black panther, as for Wakanda Forever made a tribute to him.
I watched once&always tbh it was the worst power ranger I've ever watched. I felt like everything was worst... story, acting, and I doubt if director told the red ranger to do anything he want on the camera the whole time. Everytime he appeared on the screen I got so irritated looking at his acting
JDF didn't want to be part of it, because the original script was going to be centered around Tommy and it was gonna mimic the Legend Of The White Dragon movie that he was already doing before he died. So he said screw it.
This movie was amazing, even though Netflix didn’t give them a series. They paid homage and at this point after this many years, that is what counts. They added Easter eggs for the die hard fans. And if I’m not mistaken, that young lady is the actual daughter of the yellow ranger and gave her the experience her mother did on set.
Didn't watch it but probably would have been a million times better if Pink Ranger and Red Ranger had come back for this. Why didn't those two actors want to do it? They haven't had work in awhile or at least I haven't noticed them in anything. Don't they need the $$$ or are they making enough residuals off replays of the original series?
Returning to these things is saying thanks to the fans who put you where you are today. Not showing up and you better have a really good excuse is slapping the fans in the face. You should feel so privileged to complete your story arch which is very rare to do.

I have bitter sweet memories from them power rangers. In one hand I love them I grew up with them but when I found out how little they get paid and how they get exploited I stop watching all power ranger stuff even when am actually wanting so bad to see them
Farmers get paid little to nothing every day. Remember that each day you eat. 👍
@@gman8177 yep that’s why we should buy local even when it is more expensive. So I got that covered thank you.
Sad there was always drama with the crew. Sucks for us fans, sucks for everyone involved
To be fair most the drama was either sqoushed years ago or just ood wounds that are not much an issue such as the jdf and austin issue
I think that would’ve fit the story a lot better.
true
@@frostybytes6835 it was simply a suggestion so she could be included with the rest of the team. If she didn’t want to do it, it’s her choice.
It's usually money.
nah Red cant leave the US as hes up on charges for stealing a fuckload of covid relief money i believe
Austin st John got arrested
I like the movie but it be a lot better if all them was in the movie RIP Green Ranger and Yellow Ranger. I love the new Yellow Ranger she very cool at the end of it 😎
If you listen to it their voices are in it when they morph. You just never see their faces. Could be voice over or replaying their voices from the original but, regardless their voices are there.
Absolutely they should have been in the mix. Egos & past conflicts kept them from coming together.
Reunions are for the fans that have kept the franchise alive all these years.
If they do a sequel, they better be in it.....with Tommy also coming back thorugh the power grid somehow.
I enjoyed the special because Walter and David returned. Although Amy Jo wasn't in this, I'm looking forward to The Return next year to see her version of where the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are now.
Great video thank you for providing this information. Do you hard work even though I had fun time watching a special, but at the end of the day it was a incomplete reunion it was a missed opportunity.
If you know any history about the power rangers you know the original cast made a promise not to do anything involved with them after how they were treated in the 90s
Apparently one wanted money, and the other is dealing with some legal issue
It was filmed in New Zealand, which has insane vaccine laws for work as well so im assuming full cast and crew needed to be immunized and go through a quarantine on arrival which im sure some actors didnt wanna do
I wasn't upset to see Rocky and Kat back, personally. It's a shame Nakia wouldn't come back, but the homage to Trini was very touching.
Nakia is a Zeo Ranger even though she got a small role in the end of MMPR
@@agnesfruto7686why not Aisha?
@@tommyfield8449 she was there along with adam
Simply put, AJ didn't want to be a part of it. Austin couldn't be there because of his legal troubles. And Thuy and Jason are dead. Jason had already declined to appear before his death. END OF STORY!!
They can't admit that they hated coming back, because of low paychecks and a toxic fanbase.
@@MiXVoy Everyone's entitled to their own opinion.
I'd Like To Go Back In Time and Date Thuy Trang and Amy Jo Johnson not at the same time though just making it clear
Amy Jo Johnson is beautiful. It is sad that Thuy Tang died so young in a car crash.
Thuy Trang was so beautiful, such a loss at such a young age
Amy jo Johnson still looks good for her age
Are you hot enough?
Really cringe comment
Sounds like he didn't want to taint his legacy as the red ranger due to his criminal trial coming up.
Until stated otherwise I will believe that as a theory.
Amy Jo Johnson I bet it's because she has other things that concerns her these days.
Isn't that alleged still ? Innocent until proven guilty.
@@Ahloveyafuhso well he is dealing with that situation regardless
That is why he wasnt on this movie
@@laurafabianmarrero yes he is but that doesn't mean he's a criminal when he himself didn't realize what those people did to him until it was too late.. and he didn't know he was involved in said situation. I just hope it gets revolved and they get all the facts before anyone makes a claim.
He can't leave the country while the case is ongoing. It was filmed in New Zealand. Innocent until proven guilty still means he couldn't fly internationally.
@@Ahloveyafuhso
Never said he was guilty.
Dropped the ball on this netflix could've did this like endgame
It Was So Cheap.
The Pioneers were back! You cannot beat a classic, no one😢
Amy Jo was busy with the comics we now know as she revealed recently
Incomplete reunion, without the original pink, red,and white rangers it just wasn't the same!! 😢
😢😢😢😢😢
For what it was, it was a cool reunion, I didn't like the WOKE part, but without all the original rangers, this reunion will still feel incomplete.
according to Aaron from bat in the sun, who worked with JDF on several projects over the years, including JDF'S white dragon movie, the reason that JDF did not want to be in the movie or cosmic fury was because of the way that he was treated by Saban, Hasbro, and Boom studios. Apparently the original script for the movie was going to be taken from the white dragon movie and JDF was not going to let it happen.
But he's done many cameos including the movie...and NOW he didn't want to do it? There has to be more..mmm
Didn’t JDF refuse because he was working on his own movie project at the time?
I'd love a Mighty Morphin' and Zeo team up.
Mastodon: Zack
Pterodactyl: Kimberley
Triceratops: Billy
Sabretooth Tiger: Minh
Tyrannosaurus: Jason
Zeo Ranger 1: Kat
Zeo Ranger 2: Aisha / Tanya
Zeo Ranger 3: Rocky
Zeo Ranger 4: Adam
Zeo Ranger 5: ????
Thank you for not bleeping out the word.
Some recording came out after JDFs death that showed some of other actors in bad light. In the recording he paid Walter Emanuel Jones to have his friend (or him) stop bad mouthing JDF behind the scenes. Jones was also bit angry that JDF was “taking” chances away from him, but it ended up being that JDF did not always take booking fee for events, but used them to advertise himself (which gave him more events and led to him making better money)
Austin St.
I think when I was 12 or 13 I had a small crush on Kimberley 😂😂😂😂😂👍 power rangers is a big part of my childhood.
It is said that David Yost is still being bullied for being gay backstage. 😅
No, Yost was bullied for being gay the last time he was on Power Rangers in the 90's during the 4th season, which is why he left the show in the first place, and didn't come back for years. His appearance in Once and Always, is the first time he had anything to do with Power Rangers since then.
@jerelminter It was a joke, lmao. Hence, the laughing face. I know he's was bullied back in the day. That's why I made the joke.
So depressing, just like what happened to Carrie Fisher during the filming of Star Wars the last jedi, and Chadwick Boseman in black panther, as for Wakanda Forever made a tribute to him.
Nerds have to realize that you can't always get what you want the way you want. Life gets in the way. It happens. Move on.
I watched once&always tbh it was the worst power ranger I've ever watched. I felt like everything was worst... story, acting, and I doubt if director told the red ranger to do anything he want on the camera the whole time. Everytime he appeared on the screen I got so irritated looking at his acting
Anyway Rocky is still a hard puncher and Zack's hip-hop kido is always amazing...Minh girl is adoring, the rest of crew as well
Never complete without the OG red
JDF probably didn't want to be a part of it bc it sucked. Even for a Power Rangers movie, it sucked.
JDF didn't want to be part of it, because the original script was going to be centered around Tommy and it was gonna mimic the Legend Of The White Dragon movie that he was already doing before he died. So he said screw it.
Jason D. Frank was the true majic and glue for the show
Hopefully, this video won't vanish as soon as I've watched it like last time, that was freaky.
They really didn’t have kill Trini. I would’ve been perfectly fine with a recast. Smh. Thank’s for literally killing Thuy’s legacy. Smh.
She could've been in Costume during the whole Special.
Nobody would've known if it was somebody else.
Great video you're the best TH-cam ranger
I remember being 11 when the first episode dropped. Pink/Amy Jo Johnson’s ranger was my favorite
LOL, All the rangers from the first show in this look like they should be pulling out their member cards and yelling....“It's AARP TIME!” LOL
1997 im 7 years old the movei now 2024 im 34 years old old but gold memores of favorite movei power ranger original 😊😥
Showing that fake car accident is crazy
If people wanted to watch power rangers just go watch the 90s classic this new one didn't need to be made at all.
Austin ST John had legal trouble and couldn't leave the country. Once and Always was filmed in New Zealand
Please do top 10 Marvel quick silver villains and thank you for everything and we love you so much ❤
If there was original red one in it I would watch it 100%
4:43 WOAH, what is this scene from?! Looks really slick and high-budget!
I swear I saw a interview with David saying he was abused on the set and would never come back. But maybe that was in another world.
With the EXXCEPTION of Frank and The lady that played Trini, the Original"pink" Ranger was CORRUPTED. JUST-KIDDING🤔🤔
Returning to these things is saying thanks to the fans who put you where you are today. Not showing up and you better have a really good excuse is slapping the fans in the face. You should feel so privileged to complete your story arch which is very rare to do.
But the Green Ranger has done many cameos including the new movie...and NOW he didn't want to do it? There has to be more..mmm
Dude when he said she was in her 50s I was like….No Way!
Could've added more views by putting "green" in the title since he chose not to return as well. Weird not including him.
Its wuz lame without them I tell u that I was a red ranger fan and had a thing for the Pink Ranger so when I see the weather going to be in it I didn't even want to look at it
but what if you don't have a netflix account
It's so sad that jason David frank, has killed himself, but the good thing that power rangers once and always was dedicated in the memory of thuy and jason David frank death.
Fun fact. Majority of us didnt know this was even a thing.
People already know Why they were missing lol
