Loved this tutorial! I’ve been wanting to learn to knit with two colours, but all of the tutorials I’ve seen have involved flicky/continental skills, which just makes my brain short circuit. This method totally works with how I knit and I’m now making good progress on my first ever pair of mittens and using this fair isle patterning. My only adjustment was that I’m holding my main colour at the front, and accent at the back. Thank you so much for making this an easily gained skill for me!
Watched a few videos on how to knit using two colours. Nearly gave up as just couldn’t get it. So glad I watched this. So simply explained. Thank you!!
Loved this tutorial! I’m a new knitter and I’ve been wanting to learn to knit with two colours but everything I’ve seen has involved flicky/continental moves that short circuit my brain. This method totally works with my knitting style and has made this an easy skill to learn. I’m now making good progress on my first ever pair of mittens while also using this fair isle patterning on it. And I love how it’s turning out. Thank you so much!
This was so helpful! I just started making a hat as a gift for my mom and I want to do something special as a surprise since she knows I’m making her a hat. She doesn’t know I’m going to add a pattern though, and I think I’m going to try adding a second color in this fair isle pattern! Thank you for showing and explaining it so well and clearly! I felt so daunted before because I’ve never tried fair isle before and I have forgotten how to do stripes. I don’t actually have a pattern for this hat so thank you so much for explaining how to do it without a pattern! I think I can do it after watching this video, thank you!!
@@FitFoodArtShop oh sorry I worded that wrong. I meant to say could you please show us how to knot** in the new colour. I think autocorrect might have got me.
@@leticiawhite6189 OH! Haha, silly autocorrect! So I have an old video showing this on IG! Here’s the link! instagram.com/tv/B2zUIuZgKyD/?igshid=OGIzYTJhMTRmYQ== I could have sworn it was on TH-cam, but I guess I need to make a new one, haha!
What do you do when you have to do a few rows of plain stockinette within a fairisle chart? Ima sling cuz gauge and tension between the two are different so I’m having trouble in my work. When I do the plain stockinette after some fair isle, the stockinette ends up being not only wider, but it also stretches out way more than the fairisle section when I come stretch it. I don’t quite like this effect. I want them both to stretch to the same point when I stretch them out. Please help!
Hi there! Tension is definitely a hard thing to nail down! I would suggest keeping your tension extra loose on the fair isle round, since you don’t want your floats to be too tight. This just takes practice!
I’ve tried knitting continental a few times, and I just can’t get the hang of it! Throwing with two colors works for me! It’s cool that everyone has their own way of knitting!
I’m sorry you didn’t find this video helpful. Maybe you can find the kind of tutorial you’re looking for from another knitter on here. This video was meant to supplement my written patterns and simply show how I like to knit with two colors. It doesn’t start from the beginning of the beanie because it isn’t a full knit beanie tutorial.
Quite literally the most instructive video I’ve ever watched

Can you please show us how to knit in the new colour?
Hi there! If you watch until about the 3:00 mark, you’ll see how to knit with both!

Hi would you happen to have the knitting pattern for this?
Yes! This is my Phoebe Beanie pattern! It’s available on Ravelry and Etsy! See the link below!

Using two hands to knit two different color yarns is much better as the yarns don't twist and make a big mess to untangle.

How many grams of yarn are you using?
