In this video I talk about silver investing and gold investing. I talk about the prices of silver dropping as well as the price of gold dropping and what that means for my own stacking strategy and how much silver and gold I want to buy and invest in.

Most of the reasons for stacking remain in place, and the trend continues to reinforce that very obviously since 2008. Higher and rising national debt? Yup. Increased global instability higher and rising? Yup. Increasing monetary instability? Yup. Will gold and silver be the chosen alternative comes down to the stacking choice originally made imo. But the thesis for stacking has not changed imo.

I shall continue buying gold little and often. Cost averaging will continue to minimise risk regardless of market swings if bought for the long term. My feeling is dealers will retain higher premiums if costs drop so not sure how much of a saving will be made if we ‘wait for the drop’

We had a big surge in new stackers at the start of the pandemic due to people being worried about stocks, and then later reddit drove up premiums with the silly “raids” that didn’t work. Since then premiums have been really higher than they should be (historically). I would love to see spot fall a lot, but would be even better if premiums dropped. In the mean time, I can’t blame anyone for putting brakes on

Exactly, when silver drops people will buy, pushing the price back up. $16/oz became a new floor. I don't know that we will see it that low again. We will have to see. Stable price movements involve ups and downs with a trend, going higher each time. Sharp spikes as seen with silver in the past were not stable.

Price drop ? Two weeks ? two days maybe!
I have many questions you could ask the R.M but here's a question that I feel most people want to know...
Why , can they not add a little silver to the copper , or just as with early Britannia's have the rest with silver .. to make the colour like early Sovereigns ? the tiny fraction of price between the two metals (copper &silver) would make no real difference ... but the Sovereigns would then look like gold... and they may even sell more! it's a win, win for everybody .. surely ..

Prices have to drop by half before they go up, and when they go up, they will go up with a Bang ! Why you ask. Two reasons the world is going to a digital currency, two, some of these currencies will not be backed by anything but good faith like G7 countries and others will be backed by gold. The results will be devastating for the currencies not back by gold, gold and silver demand will go up by 10x. And one last thing, once you have a gold backed currency its just a matter of time by all commodities get priced according to what the gold price is, this way will be fair and you will have an open market and prices for everything will be priced according to supply and demand, and that is the way I see things unfold in the real world.

It's quite straightforward really. Buy (anything) when the price is quite a bit below the long term trend-line, and sell when it's quite a bit above it. But most people to the exact opposite, they buy in when something is doing well (jumping on the band wagon) and sell out when it's not (panic). But back to silver and gold, they should be seen as a long term investment (at least 10 years), and the chances are, but it's not a given, that anything you buy today will be worth more in 10 years time - even if it's simply tracked inflation.

A couple months later it got to $24.25 my lcs gave $1 over spot so I sold it all for $2.75 Oz profit. All the silver videos were saying were buying woo-hoo. I tried telling people it's coming back down. I also waited all last year to buy and saved up for that moment, now I've added that back plus the profit to the pile of fiat I'm saving for when it gets back around there. I do think the next leg up will be greater than $24. Their is just too many issues brewing in financial world to ignore. Silver will get beat down in short term. I suspect by June I'd like to have bought all back. Things going to get crazy this year.

is there a good way in the uk to buy without vat?

  • @harryzero1566

I think the premiums due to inflation take the opportunity to compensate for lower commodity prices.
I feel, as time goes by, desirable pieces are becoming scarcer to acquire.
Currently it's the sovereign dates that are priced too high at Chards of Blackpool, having stated that, Bullion by Post are even dearer.
In my opinion sub £400 for a sovereign is a touch too expensive, but ok if the dates are on my acquisition list.
Like Mr BYB it's sitting on one's hands seem to be the way to wait.

Hope you have a good time at the Royal Mint! I would ask them why their website is so crap (e.g. the filters on any given page never display or function properly) and why they don't have real pics of their products instead of just CG ones.

    • @Whateva67
      @Whateva67 ปีที่แล้ว

The CG ones look better to fool people into thinking their products are good quality. I bought some Brittania coins and every one was spotted,it’s a shame because they put so much effort into making them beautiful in the first place but I won’t even look at them anymore. The ten oz coins I bought look great and I would buy more but I’m going to stick with RCM and Perth Mint products for the most part.

You never know when it's time to back up the truck until the time has passed. You can get lucky and back it up at the right time and have a good feeling it is the right time but you never know for certain

I'm waiting for 1/2 ounce gold Charlies to become available and they will be the last of it for me - my portfolio is well distributed now. I reckon PMs will go down so long as the futures guys are shorting them... until reality bites. Then, I think they will rise. Think Nike tick.

I totally agree with you; however, the golden era of low interest rates are over. We're not going back. In fact, we'll return to the realities of the 70s and 80s interest rates. After the pandemic I think think banking system and governments aren't going to risk those low interest rates again, considering the amount of national debts worldwide. It's not doom and gloom btw. It's more of a, "Welcome back to real life."

Not sure why we wouldn't just buy silver every $1/oz decrease -- This sort of sounds like you are comfortable buying silver at a higher market price, and get uncomfortable as it goes down. I personally would love Silver going down about another 20% , dipping down to around 18 and I'll buy significantly more. Perhaps you're buying silver with money you cannot afford to part with?

Things in the market do what they have to do, governments try to control some of it. Things always seem to even out. So far.
