Montana Sapphire Mining 2012

This year's sapphire season was marked with a lot of dry prospect holes. That is the way it works some times. On the plus side we have managed to eliminate 3 big areas, tuning in closer and closer to the vein of stones.

Too bad there wasn't much facetable in that pile. I got some pink smalls (largest is about 3 cts.) that my hubby will facet for me and 1 small purple! Nice thing about that is we don't have to have them heat treated. Is this vid taken in the Sapphire Mountain range?

how do you decide where to dig? high, low, by creek? Ravenes?

how do you know how not to go on some elses mining claim ? are they clearly marked?is this private property? is this a public land area? can i facet some in return for some stones?

Nothing we found so far this year has any value but each year we narrow down the source a little more.

That looks so fun...Do you sell them? What would it take to get a good piece around 2-3 carats to surprise my wife with? I could trade a "Very very Rare" Alabama gold picker flake that weighs over 0.200 grams. Just a thought. But let me know if you sell or trade please. Great video.

hey i do hunting and camping in this area, almost everyyear since i been 10 amazing place to go camping ,even more fun looking for sapphires, then after a long day just head over the hill to sapphire village or take the drive to Utica for a big ass burger and cold beer !!!!!!!! 406 proud!!!

there's something said, just in how people live. But should the message ever be so quietly smug, self righteous or preachy? Through the media lens anyway. Something about good equipment, preparedness and protecting dogs, lizards and little children? Oh and not doing things for the money. My response to this video is decidedly negative as you can see, but shouldn't have that influence my view of an entire people. Media is not life anyway.
