I am 3 Montana sapphires mounted in a ring I wear all the time- from this mine. Definitely worth the trip. Thanks for showing us your haul. Can't wait to get back and do this again!!
i went 2 years ago had a great time. they sent a few of mine off to get heat treated and cut. took a few months but eventually got my gems they are lovely!
Just last week my friend and I opened up a bag of gravel we purchased when we there summer of 2022! I've been there twice and have great memories and sapphires. Glad you enjoyed your visit and I agree it's a 10 out of 10.
Hi Bryan and Matrix. We have, on several occasions, mail ordered sapphire dirt from them and have found quite a few. We also send the ones we find back to them for free eval and have found that they are one of the best appraisers we have found over 10+ years now. Thank you for doing this video. Slava Ukraini.
How do you on average do in terms of the value of the stones? Obviously I don't plan on doing it for the money, but it would be nice if the sapphires offset the cost of the gravel so that I can do it more often.
I loved this video Bryan! I was happy you found a pink one - it was really pretty! At first, I was little disappointed they were all clear to greenish, but it was interesting to learn (I already knew they could be heat treated), though, that the final heated colors could come out differently even though they pretty much looked the same going in. Do they heat treat right there?
This is a dream trip for me. They ship buckets in the mail. We’ve done half a dozen and found great stuff. They aren’t seeded so it’s a roll of the dice
It may just be meX but your uploads seem to be lessening or getting shorter and I love this channel. I hope all is well and you keep pumping out the great videos with that camping couple and the many others you’ve met on your journey! I miss the stuff with your nephew, that was such a great series of vids having him along! Idk, just keep the content coming, you do your craft so well and I’m missing the 30 min Herk videos or overnight amethyst digs…Every video is a treat so thank you for that!!
I live about 20 miles from here. Been coming here with family and friends for 40 years. You will find a tablespoon of sapphires in each bucket, but they are neither rare nor flawless. The Rock Creek deposit has only ever produced very small sapphires that were gathered up in the late 1800's, bagged, and sent off to Switzerland to be used and cut into round watch bearings. That has been their only commercial value. Stones of jewelry quality are extremely rare and generally need to be heat treated to gain color. It's still fun though.
My lil family and I are getting ready to visit next week and this video was SO helpful! Thank you so much for putting it out there and sharing the experience. I have a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old, and this gave me such a great idea of what to expect. We are excited!
I've been looking forward to you doing a Montana sapphire episode. Coincidentally, I did my first mail-order box of gravel this weekend. It's from the Eldorado Bar location, though. I got just over 30 ct from the box, several over a carat, and about 4 clear enough to cut. The biggest was 2.6 ct. No fancy colors, though. Gonna try Gem Mountain next. Travel is pretty hard for me, so it's nice to be able to rock-hound by mail. I wish it was possible at more types of deposits. No chance of me searching for red beryl. I'm close enough to the Benitoite mine to do a day-trip, so I'll get to do that one at least.
Last time I was that mine was over 10 years ago, but we did VERY well. By the way... in that first screen, I think you missed a BIG lavender to the left of the greens you picked. Might be a trick of the camera, or purple rhyolite, amethyst, etc., but now I won't be able to sleep...
Nice to see you made it to my hometown area Bryan! I grew up in the town of Pburg ; closed town to here. I know you have been to crystal park too, but nice to see you checking out gem mountain hope you had another good experience in Montana . The county you are in here is loaded with far more than even sapphires!
I mail order gravel from this mine all the time. I have found a few 5ct stones, a bunch of 4 ct and 3ct and thousands of small ones. I have tons of clear sapphires, YELLOW ONES, PINK ONES, and my favorite is a deep blue/ violet one about w ct. One day I will go and actually visit the mine...
I have done that at gem mountain store in Philipsburg Montana. I have 6 sapphires that i was able to have heat treated and cut that i had found there. They range from 1/2 karat to just under a karat. They are amazing blues. I want to do that again but at the mine location.
I bet you all of the aggregate that is left over is after screening for gems is done, is sold as a secondary product for a profit - and you're doing all the work for them
That's what I was wondering, a pale color, but pretty. Also wondering if once in a while people find something large that's really worth some money, or if it's all just tiny.
Ordered a box of gravel thru these guys over the summer since i wasnt sure when ill have the time to drive that far - Its so fun going thru a box of dirt and finding saphires 👍 . Would love to actually make it out there some day
@joseywilds3133it's a fun thing to do with the kids. The word tourist trap is funny. Anywhere people vacation is technically a tourist trap. But hey Mr no fun you do you
Hello, my name is Leandro. And I love mining. And a friend and I made a beautiful discovery here in Brazil. From a different Opal, as if it were a twig, I know it is very beautiful
The rarer colour is purple. If I do the tour guide but I'll show you where to find them here in Australia! We get a lot more per screen too so you'll need a much bigger container. Have fun mate!

You spent 240$ for all them and hopefully you got the amount you spent back in the little bag, I thing going down in the river or mining is more a trip then doing that little sloosh thing but I'll do the sloosh thing also. Thanks for showing us.
Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: This place is so fun!!! On another note... Matrix is the most dreamy rock-dog on TH-cam! Can I have your autograph, Matrix?
Watching your videos and my 4 yr old grand son looks at me and says... mimi can we go get rocks with them❤ I told him I wish but we don't know yall and you go looking for gems out of state far away from nc. Got to love kids

I'm 52 and I remember going to this place when I was 7 or 8. Still have the gems we found.
Found a 3 carat sapphire there back around 1988-after cutting it I have a beautiful 2 carat solitaire sapphire ring-sky blue
Weow sounds pretty
i went 2 years ago had a great time. they sent a few of mine off to get heat treated and cut. took a few months but eventually got my gems they are lovely!
Yeah, I think they’re backed up to almost 9 months right now!!
Just last week my friend and I opened up a bag of gravel we purchased when we there summer of 2022! I've been there twice and have great memories and sapphires. Glad you enjoyed your visit and I agree it's a 10 out of 10.

Yes, I was gonna get mine heat treated but the turnover was like 8 to 9 months, so I’m waiting probably should’ve just went ahead and got it done
Look around...its beautiful there!!! Wow.
Nice. Montana sapphires are world famous and stunning 🤩
It’s like gold panning. Cool!
Best mineral videos on youtube watching from brazil
Thanks Bro 👊
I can imagine the scrap pile is still bearing sapphires.
Awesome!!! I'd love to visit one day!!
That looks fun and easy.
Matrix 🐶, sending hugs ❤

This is a dream trip for me. They ship buckets in the mail. We’ve done half a dozen and found great stuff. They aren’t seeded so it’s a roll of the dice

I was thinking the same thing… On the first screen!
Oh well, Brian has Matrix and he’s cuter than a pink sapphire!
Indeed he did miss that lavender.
I go there a few times a year!, got an underground mine in philipsburg!
Sweeet!!! 🤙

I would love to go to Montana and search for sapphires, especially pink, my favorite color. It looks like a nice place to go, and it's Montana.😄
Very nice i follow you from Somalia since 2018 i learned lot from you thanks
Pretty cool!
Would really be an amazing place to visit 😮😮😮😮. 20 hours ago, looks like summertime in Montana. How is that possible?
If you had only one day to go on vacation and gem mine where would it be. Cuz i wanna go and need a good place to have fun.😅
Bryan! This is really something! Are these stones capable of being cut into gemstones?
That's what I was wondering, a pale color, but pretty.
Also wondering if once in a while people find something large that's really worth some money, or if it's all just tiny.
Yes,they will treat and cut but it takes a while but they are beautiful when done.

How much does it cost to have them heat treated and faceted? THIS IS PURE FUN!!! Matrix looks so cute in his shirt 💙! Great trip Bryan!
Super cool vids. Thats so fun.
how much was the haul worth? dag nabbit
A million
Can't know until treated.
So going see evaluator worth nothing
A lot less than he paid for those buckets of dirt!
@joseywilds3133it's a fun thing to do with the kids. The word tourist trap is funny. Anywhere people vacation is technically a tourist trap. But hey Mr no fun you do you

Wow!!! Way Way Cool!!! Thank you for sharing it with us!!! God Bless Us All!!!
Everything that's in that container, properly faceted, will likely fetch upwards for a grand or more.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Been there twice, awesome place awesome people!!
The rarer colour is purple.
If I do the tour guide but I'll show you where to find them here in Australia!

since the sapphires tend to be around
Lucky! I been looking for some nice Montana green and pink. Good luck affording it!

How do you know those clear ones are ? They look like quartz to me😮 . We got a creek by my property, I’d love to find some gems ❤
Love the vids Brian you need to come back to Missouri
Was wondering when you would visit there
Right in my backyard!!
Pastinya sangat menyenangkan berada di sana memilih batu permata yang indah
I live here in Missoula and I just love being a rock hound! I have my spots to go.😊
I swear I saw a pink sapphire that you missed in the very first screen!
👍👍
‼️‼️They should have shade tent fo4 the sorting tables‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
When was this? It's frozen here right now.😂
Are there any sapphires that come out of the ground deep blue, or are all of those heat treated?
Nice 👍
The pinks are color changing with uv light
I do not like heat treating although it is generally done because I can tell. It leaves a brownish cast.
Born an raised its worth going
So, wait, what about the amethyst I think I saw in that first screen??
Whaaaaaaaat!! May have been some host rocks
$40 a bucket is wild! Wonder if you make the money back per bucket
Watching your videos and my 4 yr old grand son looks at me and says... mimi can we go get rocks with them❤ I told him I wish but we don't know yall and you go looking for gems out of state far away from nc. Got to love kids
So many great places for rock hounding in NC near Spruce Pine, Little Switzerland and Probst Farm
You had a pink one in your first screen too. Pretty sure.
14 is my favorite number, so I guess I'd get 2 of the 7s.
Was there a purple sapphire to the left on the 1st flip?
😮
4:21 I have seen stuff like that in the creek in north west NC was it worth anything?
You should pan or screen some of it and find a local gemologist to evaluate them.
Asik,, mantap 👍🙏
Ok...what kind of dog is Matrix? Because I really need to know.
He is a Shih Tzu/poodle mix
I thought there was some poodle mischief in there. He's soooo cute!@@TheCrystalCollector
Hey Brian, how many screen feels did you get per bucket?… just curious.
I can’t remember exactly maybe five or six, kind of according to how thick you would pour them out. Also, I made mine a little thicker.
