    I purchased a HELIO O3 from a dealer in Salem, OR. I love this unit. It's extremely well built yet light. I've had several RVs in my life and I am SICK AND TIRED of them leaking. This one is the least lightly to leak due to the 4 pieces of fiberglass welded together with the epoxy sealant with a wrap around cap and channels for water to run off. I love this little trailer! I have taken it on several trips and it pulls like a charm with my new FORD RANGER 2020. They are not cheap but you get what you pay for, the quality is excellent.

      @@MZDezi1010 Anything with exposed seams is a risk, whether you're dealing with rain in a campground or on the road. Most RV's and trailers are not as watertight as a car or truck but people just assume they are. Stick with fiberglass and as few seams as possible.

  • @renaissancepoet

    Now this is what I'm talking about! No water intrusion. One piece molded fiberglass. Aluminum frame. No rusting. Lifetime trailer. My biggest complaint with American motor homes, trailers, and truck campers is they're not built to last. Their quality control is horrendous and they have to be resealed at least once a year with goop. Yes... I call it goop because it is lazy and cheap engineering to build RV's like cardboard boxes sealed with silicone and caulk. Hopefully HELIO will one day build trailers that are a little bit bigger. Say up to 20 feet? I would rather have a small leak proof trailer that is solidly built than a big trailer with all of the bell and whistles but is built with laminated walls, roofs, and floors joined together with seams that leak without smothering them in goop! Damn! These little trailers even have molded water channels! Well done, HELIO! American RV manufacturers... take note!

    I bought the Helio 04 recently. Yes it seems more expensive but when you take into account the build, the materials used, it's solid. No water leakage can happen in this unit. One reason I bought. And it's fiberglass, which is lightweight and durable. I researched heavily before I purchased. Although it seems expensive, I think in the long run, it will stand the test of time and be less maintenance overall, and still look like new years from now.

    Now, that's the wall construction I was looking for. Sandwich foam/fiberglass all around. Next step is to build something like that 20 feet long. With minor bulkheads in key places, you could keep that thickness over a much larger area and never need a frame beyond the floor. Never a water or delamination problem either, and tight as a drum forever.

      @armslength2618 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marcjameslagmay7134 NO that's not the same thing at all. Sandwich foam or end-grain balsa epoxy-bonded between two fiberglass layers is a structural construct that distributes force through all 3 layers. That's been used in boat building for 50 years.
      But simply having a couple of shells unbonded by anything more than a few contact points like 'oliver' and similar units is far weaker, and has nothing to do with structural foam core builds.

    I bought a HELIO O3 after having owned several different types of RVs. This little unit is by far.....(bar none) the highest quality RV I've ever owned. It's small, lightweight, extremely well designed and well built, and good looking. It tows like a dream and I am really enjoying it. My unit sleeps three and has an on board toilet but no shower. The shower is outdoors but it does have hot water for the outdoor shower. I bought a mattress topper for the RV queen bed and it's super comfortable. I use the CURT ECHO wireless brake controller and I pull with a Subaru Forester. I live in Seattle but I bought this in Salem, OR. I like the idea that it will probably never leak due to the molded fiberglass construction and welded fiberglass seams. My last RV, a new Winnebago, leaked badly after I owned it for three months. It turned me off from buying another traditional RV. This is a PERFECT little RV for folks that don't want to buy a separate tow vehicle. I love the Max fan too. It's a great little unit and I'm VERY HAPPY with it.

      They won't because people like their cheap RV's. Most people don't look at the engineering or quality of things and simply look at price and then complain a few years down the road that its leaking, which gives them a reason to trade it in. Price points are more important. In Europe I've noticed the caravans are generally of much higher quality. But generally everything they make is better quality then the US. However, there are a few makes that do put out higher end stuff. Bean trailers comes to mind.

    That flooring is a step in the right direction, some RV floors are bad before they even get wet, But on the other hand, even vinyl flooring is waterproof, except for the fastener holes. I'm skeptical of that being able to survive being used on a deck, but still looks better than OSB. I don't know why companies just don't use outdoor deck material, and then the floor would never rot. They need to invent a plastic material that comes in sheets, in plywood thicknesses.

    Oui Oui small and light, get out and enjoy the outdoors. I don’t need to take the whole house with me. A place to eat, sleep and shower. Love the less-wood designs. The one issue might be any screws or cuts through the fiberglass shell, that could allow moisture into the inner layers.
    I’m not sure the AC unit on the smaller one would be good with it blowing directly on your head or feet.

      Go the largest Airstream dealership in Canada in London Ontario and get Andy to install a custom WD hitch. Believe it, the dealership uses a WD hitch equipped 2010 VW Jetta TDI to deliver Airstreams in excess of 3900lbs. Personally I towed an all aluminum (inc chassis) TT (DW 2200 lbs but fully loaded about 3500) with my VW Jetta TDI for years until VW paid my way too much to sell it back to them due to the emissions scandal settlement. Alas, I now have a GMC 1500 as a TV and sincerely miss the towing experience if not the economy of my Jetta. A pox on big NA auto who insist we purchase pickups to tow with while in Europe sing the praises of the towing ability of their compact cars! GK

    First these are waaay to expensive for what they offer. Second at this price point and with their talk of a "lifetime trailer" they should offer a warranty to back that up. Third the aluminum frame concerns me. Aluminum fatigues in ways steel doesn't and that could be an issue down the road.

      Do some research on the differences between aluminum & fiberglass. Fiberglass weighs more but is much more durable. Most trailers today use "wood" framing covered with "thin" sheets of aluminum - that causes a multitude of problems as time goes on.
