- At the 6th Women in Food and Agricultural Leadership Training Forum and Gold in the Soil Awards, Vera Enyonam Osei Kwakye, a 43-year-old farmer, was honored with the She Innovates Award. The event took place at the Sunyani Technical University on Tuesday 9th to 10th July 2024 in the Bono Region and was organized by Agrihouse Foundation.
Vera is transforming agriculture with her impressive 64-acre farm, where she grows vegetables and cocoa, and manages a 50,000-capacity fish pond in Sunyani. Despite challenges such as soil issues and storm damage, Vera remains resilient and determined to overcome these obstacles while continuing to empower her community.
Motivated by her mother and driven by her passion for farming, Vera began this venture in 2012 with her late husband. Today, she employs 24 workers and partners with universities and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) for training. Her farm suppliers produce to markets in Kumasi and Accra.
