- We come back around to check out more from Tim Minchin. He is quickly becoming a favorite. This is astonishing to watch. Every now and then you find something that's so unique and on some other level you question how its even possible. Talent like this gives me hope for humanity. Thanks to David Birchall for this one

That "wham-ba-dam-f*ckin'-wham-bam-f*ckin-WOOO" is the chef's kiss
I saw Tim Minchin in Concert one Saturday and Pearl Jam the next. The impression is uncanny and hilarious!
That had to be great. We’ve loved everything we’ve reacted to by him. Would be great to see him live
hahahahah hilarious
You hit the nail on the head with him hearing an orchestra in his head, you can see him playing these songs you're reacting to with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Albert Hall.
One of the best reactions I've seen! Loved it guys!!
thank🙏you
Awesome ty!
Tim is awesome and we in Australia are so proud of him for going his own way! ❤ This song was basically giving “the double bird” to the record companies, specifically Sony Music, because they thought he wasn’t good enough to record with his own stuff. Well, he showed them! 😂 BTW…the piano solo is completely ad libbed and different every single time Tim performs this live. Tim is not just a great comedic musician but also a serious singer, musician, composer and lyricist. Very, very intelligent man too. Check out his performance as Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar, plus his brilliance with being composer and lyricist for Matilda - The Musical (award winning), and Groundhog Day - The Musical. ❤
Great comment! Thanks for all this insight. We’ve definitely become big fans of Tim’s since doing this reaction channel. ✌️
Yours is the awesome version of reactions to Tim's song. Great job on the instant recognition of Eddie Vetter, too. Lots of reactors miss it even after being smacked upside the head with the 'Jeremy has spoken' hint.
I just love that at the end of the truly awesome piano rendition, he psychs himself up to the very worst that he can imagine happening in his life and that's all he can come up with.
We gotta do some more reactions to his music. Absolutely love it
@@secondhandreactions You won't regret it.
Great reaction guys .
If u want to hear some of tims more serious and extremely beautiful side check out
"White wine in the sun " and "not perfect " .
He also did a speak at the university of Western Australia to students with 9 life lessons which is funny and an insight to the man
Keep up the good work.
Ps . Inflatable you is a good song too
Oh great 👍 thank you for these suggestions! Looking forward to reacting to more of his stuff
Tim’s also a fantastic actor, his performance as Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar was brilliant and he’s done quite a few short series over the years, Upright being one of his more recent which is available on Apple TV
Your reactions thus far to Tim's extraordinary work have been an absolute joy! Seeing your amazement is like experiencing him for the first time all over again and I look forward to more from you in coming days. Will explore your channel now to see whether you've reacted to any other Aussie artists yet -- if not then I certainly hope you will. We've had a wealth of outstanding, original musical talent going on here (and still do) for at least 6 decades now... Warm greetings from a Melbourne springtime! 🐨🦘
Hey thanks! Hello from a gradually getting colder New York! We’ve been checking out a bunch of Australian artist recently. All of which have been suggested to us by subscribers. Fun journey! Lots of talent. Our channel did just get a copyright strike yesterday. We won’t be able to post anything for a week, but we did record a reaction to more from Tim Minchen and also John Farnsham. ✌️
Awesome, thank you!!!
Little bit of background on Tim - he considers himself super lucky in life. He was raised in a middle class family, is the son of a surgeon, went to good private schools and married his childhood sweetheart who he has been with since 17. That probably gives some context to this song and why he seems to have trouble evoking even the most trivial amount of "dark side" and can't seem to stay in that dark, broody mood for long before snapping out of it. He has spoken previously on how his background means he can't write songs about "the hood" and "bling bling" (listen to Rock n Roll Nerd), and they're the types of songs that appeal to the teenage market.
Good insight! Thank you 🙏
Yes, but you missed the most important reason for this whole song. It was written as an F You to Sony records when they turned him down. More fool them.....
@@payntpot7623 ok
He is so damn talented, he even has the piano making jokes 🔥😍😂
Seriously haha. Brilliant guy
Love it!
he can play the hell out of the piano.
ho, and "storm" cool one.
After his initial breakdown he is mimicking Mussorsky "Night on Bald Mountain" (the impressionist) then flows to Beethoven
Oh wow. Yea he’s on some other level
brilliant!
yes
I saw him live about 10 years ago. Amazing show. Next up:
1. Pope Song
2. Confessions
3. Lullaby
Thank you! Lots of suggestions for Pope song ✌️
@@secondhandreactions It's a happy song! (cue sinister laughter)
@@timpwhit lol. Oh no 🤣
@@secondhandreactionsA truer song has never been written..
@@secondhandreactions yeahhhh, I would probably learn a bit more about Tim and his views before listening to that one 🤣. I would save that for after Storm and Thankyou God at least!
Tim’s newer work is more serious. Phenomenally talented. He took piano lessons for a few years when he was young. Then quit lessons. Was self-taught from there. Doesn’t read music. Amazing composer and lyricist. The happy sounding verses in the beginning are about him getting dumped. The serious verse at the end was entirely fictional. The last chorus flips the script. I love this!
He’s a alien I think lol. Amazing talent
Entertainer of the year!!!
@@neighborsueentertainer of the 21st century more like. Tim may appear to be self deprecating and socially awkward but in reality he is a confident extrovert who knows how to be a showman and put on a good show.
@@jackwhitbread4583 incredibly evident, even in just the first video we watched. He is simply outstanding I never pegged him as self deprecating. I think he’s just very smart with his audience.
Tim you guys are to intense. Most parents love this song
confirms lots of parents feeling and relaxes them. That their thoughts are ok. He takes it further to make the thought s your brain takes you to are silly and not real.
His value is to shock and entertain . That’s his look he likes to give a wild crazy look his acting all the way with his songs , no baby was hurt. Because of this song 😂
Controversy on every song
And that folks is why it's call the awesome version 🤣
Haha it all makes sense now
Awesome sauce!!!
Hilarious. This man will be no record labels puppet! Isnt he brilliant.
For sure man. Impressive talent !
Really hope you can get around to doing "thank you God" by Tim Minchin it's brilliant 👍
Great reaction, thank you, so glad you got the pearl jam reference as well not many do 😂
Our era!! Haha
Oh I think we’re gonna be going through a lot of Minchin’s videos. We’re both blown away by this guy
@@secondhandreactions
He is amazing, such a great entertainer, he has some more songs as well but not exactly comedy like "white wine in the sun" and "not perfect" both are brilliant and imo could be released into the charts, hope you enjoy the rabbit hole that is Tim Minchin lol.
@@AndyB80808 awesome. Thank you. We just recorded a couple more reactions to him. Not the 2 you suggested, but we’ll add them. We’re loving this. I want to watch everything he’s got. I wish I had looked into him sooner, but hey maybe everything really does happen for a reason, right?
… nah lol fate is bullshit. Embrace the chaos!
@@secondhandreactions
Lol embracing the chaos should be my mantra lol, so glad you are enjoying Tim, one of his best songs is "ten foot c*ck and a few hundred virgins" not many reactors have reacted to that song I think the title scares them lol, but it's really not as bad as it sounds and such a good and funny song and much less swearing than "the pope song" lol
You'll love storm as well
The pope song
This guy says it as it is regardless
Try "Rock n Roll Nerd" and REALLY watch "Thank You God", the extended version. They are two of his best, ever.
I'll add Rock n Roll nerd t our list! Thanks for that one. We did a reaction to Thank you God but it's blocked by TH-cam to the public for copyright. Not sure why this happens to some channels and not others, but it was brilliant. We loved it.
Someoe already mentioned it but I will too. Not Perfect & White Wine In The Sun.
Thank you for doubling down. We got these on the list 👍
I was just going to say Ren and him would have so much fun together
In awe of one another, then an unstoppable creative pair
Something more obscure next please, Tim Minchin's Drowned. Its one of his most beautiful songs so get your tissues ready.
Maybe we’ll do a couple. This is interesting. I had another one in mind to do next.
👍
Make reaction to Tim Minchin Storm
There is really cool thing
And Thank You God also very good
Thanks for these suggestions!
Have you noticed that he almost never looks at his hands while he's playing?
Amazing talent on display here! Hey, but if you think it’s cool he doesn’t look at the keys, wait till I tell you about Stevie Wonder! 🤣✌️
@@secondhandreactionshaha silly
@@secondhandreactions Now that's a comeback!!!
You guys should listen to storm its soo good.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Let’s get ready for the Storm Clay!!!
Storm live. The animation is good but the delivery is better on the live version, and you would miss seeing Tim perform.
@@samanthatyrrell2240 He is the type of entertainer I would only want to experience being able to see and appreciate his facial expressions and body language. He is amazing to watch!
He was turned down by the Sony record lable at one time aswell.
Amazing that they passed on him. Their loss
Fools
As he wrote the music & lyrics for the Musical MATILDA he's closer to being like Andrew Lloyd Webber thN Elton John
For sure!!! Outstanding!!!
You forgot Groundhog Day but of course you did because Broadway screwed him and took it off Broadway far too soon, it is every bit as good as Matilda.
I am sure that the 'deep as bro' is a reference to this th-cam.com/video/ZdVHZwI8pcA/w-d-xo.html I think about it everytime I hear him say it :)
An oldie but a goodie.
Would a bathroom visit be in order prior to your next video? You seem to be having trouble sitting still. Just an observation, not a criticism.
Nice to see Tim appreciated worldwide.
Not sure. Lol I mean, it’s a possibility. We were live streaming at the time, but we rarely sit still anyway
Heehee
Enjoyed the reaction, but I have to disagree with Clay about the idea of Ren and Tim Minchin collaborating on a project. Since discovering Ren and later, Tim, I've thought the two of them together could make a project that's something truly special. Both are, of course, insanely talented musically as well as being thought-provoking lyricists and performers, but the combination of Ren's acting and storytelling ability coupled with Tim's background as a composer, writer and producer of a hit Broadway play would be a symbiotic dream. Besides, while Ren solo is more than enough to entertain, some of his best work has been with Chinchilla or his band The Big Push.
Valid. I wouldn’t hate it and, like you, I’d be thrilled if something like that ever happened. I just see them as two completely different solar systems
@@secondhandreactions Obviously you have a right to your opinion, but I'll be curious to see if your opinion changes as you get to view more of Tim's work. He truly does have a serious side (or should I say a "dark side?" lol) that I think may surprise you. I remember another reactor started his Tim Minchin journey with one of his more recent songs, "Beauty," during which he cried, and then afterwards said "I thought you guys said he (Tim) was a comedian?!" Some of his songs, like "White Wine in the Sun" or "Not Perfect," display true, heartfelt emotion--counterbalanced with a few insightful comedic barbs thrown in for good measure. And then there are performances like his 9-minute beat poem "Storm," an amazing display of wit and lyrical genius that has to be seen to be believed. Like Ren, artistically Tim is an onion, with layer after layer of varied talents to be uncovered.
@@timpwhit ok. I have to see this side of him. We were gonna keep reacting to him anyway because we are both blown away already, but I’m even more interested now. Thanks for sharing the depth. ✌️
@@secondhandreactions Good to hear. I'm always on the lookout for new Tim Minchin reactions, so I'll look forward to more from your channel. Just a couple of heads up, though, before you continue:
!. Tim is an atheist, and some of his songs such as "The Pope Song" or "Thank You, God," while brilliant, might potentially be controversial for some devout religious folk in the comment section, but the points he makes in them are, in my opinion, not egregious, intellectually interesting and worthy of discussion regardless of where you stand on the issue.
2. When you get around to doing "Thank You, God," you might have a problem with uploading it the entire song due to copyright issues. I've seen other reactors simply cut out the opening monologue as a work-around (which apparently worked, for some reason), but the monologue really tees up the plot of the song so I hope it doesn't come to that for you guys. Some reactors have been able to post the entire song, monologue included, but apparently they had to do some editing magic to accomplish it. It's a great song, and I think you'll find it's worth the effort. Also, I'm fairly sure Tim didn't initiate the block since he refers to copyright lawyers as "dicks" in one of his songs, lol.
@@timpwhit Thanks for the heads up. Chances are I agree with Tim on most things. It’s never the artists that screw it up, it’s always the suits. I’ll see what kind of editing magic I can muster up for that one. Thank you!
I have a theory that Tim is Jesus, but after being kidnapped at birth and raised by art scholars without ever knowing he was the son of God, and spending his days convincing people that he himself doesn't exist. All the evidence is there 🤣
I’ve seen exactly 2 songs from him and I would follow his gospel
Amen to that heehee
@@secondhandreactions Ironically enough, Tim played Judas in the musical "Jesus Christ, Superstar." In addition to all his other talents' he can really belt out notes as a singer.
@@secondhandreactions If you want to hear the gospel according to Tim, listen to his speech he did at the University of Western Australia called "9 life lessons." It's great :) th-cam.com/video/yoEezZD71sc/w-d-xo.html
He does make a Jesus comparison actually in one of his songs. It's called Woody Allen Jesus in case you were wondering
Hard to believe the bumb assis a trump voter
