I'm not talking in general sense, in THIS particular case, he obviously has a clue about how mexican lifestyle is, socially and culturally. It's funny because we don't really know if he has been in Mexico or not... but that doesn't matter, Mexican identity is way more difficult to explain and measure, you simply can't put on a scale 'how much Mexican' you are or 'how less American' you feel today.
I watched an interview and he says something like this "I grew up in LA, my parents are from Mexico, I'm first generation in the US, their both mexicans so I'm full blooded, 100% mexicana". So he embraces both nationalities equally. It is not completely wrong to call him Mexican, he is that and more. Greetings.
Well actually his nationality is American and his ethnicity is Mexican. Nationality is the country where your born from but ethnicity is what race you are. And even tho Mexican is not a race because we are a mix of races but still, that's why this artist says he's 100% Mexican. He's not half white, because both of his parents are full blooded Mexicans just like my parents and a majority of other 1st generation Mexican/Americans born here in the states.
Actually in the Mexican constitution says that if you have both or just one Mexican parent you're Mexican, even if you're born in other country, so yeah, he's Mexican-American
