Crowbar is one of those bands man, the ones that stay with you for life and in the darkest moments. Top 5 shit. Much love to Kirk and his wife Robin, two amazing people. Still hold the day they came to Milan as one of the dearest memories.
Necrotic Nick- I've met them multiple times and they are some of the kindest people I've run into in the metal scene. Kirk's handshake could crush walnuts too lol. This was fun on to go over but hell to rank. They're all so damn good.
Doing a Crowbar discog run this weekend and it's been one of my favorite ones I've done in a while. Absolutely love these dudes and that whole NOLA sludge scene. And maaan that main riff on Suffering Brings Wisdom just...DAMN lol.
I love CROWBAR. The soft titled 1993 album is my #1. Beavis and Butthead was my introduction too. With the song Existence is Punishment. Did you guys see that Kirk and Todd Strange recently went to Florida and recorded a song with Kenny and Johnny from Type O Negative? I'm excited to hear what that'll sound like. ⚜
Necrotic Nick- The S/T was close to making my number one spot. That's the album that set me on the path so to speak. Thank you Beavis & Butthead lol. Dude, I'm stoked to check out Eye Am when it drops. Kirks sick riffs matched up with Kenny's knack for melody. It already sounds killer on paper.
daaamn, Sever the Wicked Hand is top tier crowbar imo. overall i understand yalls rankings though. Thanks for giving my hometown crew a shoutout! NOLA Baby!!!!
Excited to dive into this massive ranking! Such a great band, here's how I rank them. 12. Obedience Thru Suffering 11. The Serpent Only Lies 10. Time Heals Nothing 9. Zero and Below 8. Symmetry In Black 7. Lifesblood For The Downtrodden 6. Crowbar 5. Equilibrium 4. Sever the Wicked Hand 3. Odd Fellows Rest 2. Broken Glass 1. Sonic Excess in its Purist Form
Necrotic Nick- This is a tough one to rank since these guys are the definition of consistency in my mind. I can't argue with your number one though. That album is possibly my favorite sludge album ever.
Great video, fellas! Crowbar is one of my 5 favorite bands of all time, and I own their entire catalog. Seeing them live in February 2019 is still my favorite concert I’ve ever been to. Here’s my ranking: 12) Lifesblood for the Downtrodden 11) Equilibrium 10) Obedience Through Suffering 9) Time Heals Nothing 8) The Serpent Only Lies 7) Sever the Wicked Hand 6) Self-titled 5) Zero and Below 4) Symmetry in Black 3) Sonic Excess in Its Purest Form 2) Broken Glass 1) Odd Fellows Rest Listening through the entire catalog this week! Take care, guys!
Can't wait for the Immolation ranking, easily one of my favorite Death Metal bands. Every album is Killer. Also, I'm looking forward to checking out more Judas Priest, I've only heard a few albums.
Crowbar is probably in my top 5 favorite Metal bands of all time I love this band….. This might be a tad controversial but I prefer Crowbar over Down…..
Crowbar are a legendary band in the New Orleans metal scene. They’re riffs are so crushing and heavy and yet are catchy. Not to mention Kirk Windstein, on top of being an absolute riffer, has a ton of emotion in his vocal delivery. All of their albums are amazing and here would be my ranking (also my ranking has changed from when I commented on Pair of Jeans ranking a year ago): 12. Lifesblood for the Downtrodden 11. Sonic Excess in It’s Purest Form 10. Time Heals Nothing 9. Equilibrium 8. Obedience Thru Suffering 7. Zero and Below 6. The Serpent Only Lies 5. Symmetry in Black 4. Sever the Wicked Hand 3. Broken Glass 2. Self-titled 1. Odd Fellows Rest
Necrotic Nick- Kirk is a legit riff lord for sure. He's almost untouchable in that department and his body of work speaks for itself. As much as it breaks my heart to see Sonic so low, this band has no back albums and your top 3 especially are some of my favorites as well.
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Sadly I can't make it out there for Milwaukee Metalfest since we've got Denver just before that. I've already got tickets for Maryland Deathfest next year though so I'm ahead of the curve there.
Love Crowbar, but I've not heard all the albums. I own six albums and they are the newer ones, so I should visit the older stuff. I totally dig everything I've heard. Really looking forward to the Meshuggah and Immolation rankings. Those rankings will be all over the map, since both bands really have no bad albums. Nice job, as always.
Necrotic Nick- Honestly, this is one of those bands where I'd just say get it all. Even the debut, while the production is rough, is still killer. Meshuggah and Immolation are going to be tough but I'm looking forward to diving headfirst into both.
1. Crack the Skye - an untouchable masterpiece, flawless from front to back. Mastodon at the peak of their powers. One of the best albums of any genre, period. 2. Leviathan - riff central. The music fits the concept so fuckjng well. Some of their best riffs and best compositions ever. And perhaps Brann’s best drum performance ever. Plus…it’s got Hearts Alive. 3. Blood Mountain - heavy, weird, proggy, brilliant. Some of their best riffs ever. A monster of an album. 4. Hushed and Grim - almost 90 minutes long and I’ve listened to it front to back well over 10 times. Not many double albums that can hold my attention as well as this one. Powerful and emotional. 5. Emperor of Sand - easily the catchiest choruses and greatest hooks of their career. The songwriting is fantastic, and knowing the concept of the album and what it means to the band makes it that much more emotional and gripping to listen to. Plus, Jaguar God is INCREDIBLE. 6. Remission - one of the best debut albums ever. Crushingly heavy. Great riffs, ultra creative, punishing and unique. 7. Once More ‘Round the Sun - has some amazing songs, but also some of their most forgettable songs. I respect the psychedelic vibes and greater attention to hooks and melodies here. 8. The Hunter - a great album, but not a lot that truly makes it stand out. As a whole it is outstanding, but only a few of the songs actually stand out amongst their catalogue
@@thrallsofmetal such a nice variety of styles too. I know that Immolation ranking is about to torture you Nick haha. Best one is whichever one you're listening to at the time 😂
Good video. Nice to see people giving Crowbar props. I don't like using the overused term "underrated" but Crowbar I feel they're underappreciated. A huge influence on all those early 2000's "core" bands. Crowbar is one of those bands it's hard to rank their albums. I would choose 4 albums in particular to recommend to a new fan; Self-titled, Broken Glass, Odd Fellows Rest, and Sonic Excess In It's Purest Form.
Necrotic Nick- It's one of the dreariest sludge metal albums there is but it is so damn good. Just check out the song Planets Collide and that should get you hooked. Crowbar slay live and Kirk's tone might shake some internal organs loose. It's that heavy.
Crowbar are the sonic equivalent of the most destructive, slowest earthquake you can imagine. Fitting their most popular song is Planets Collide. Cool band. Stoked for that Meshuggah ranking, that’s a top 10 favorite for me.
Necrotic Nick- It's like drowning in tar while the sky rain cement blocks on you. Planet's Collide is such a killer song. The heavy and emotion of that song might be heavier than the actual planet. I'm definitely looking forward to Meshuggah as well. That should be a fun one.
I'm going to be so excited when the Judas Priest ranking comes on soon! Love Judas Priest! These guys are legendary! Saw them live at my hometown of Kalamazoo, Michigan last October! Killer show! Great stuff! They are still killing it. And I'm surprised that Immolation won over Obituary. I wanted to see the Obituary ranking, but that would have to wait because I can tell that Nick loves Immolation. Can't wait to see that ranking too!
Necrotic Nick- I saw them at Ozzfest 2004 and they had a killer set. I was down to do either Obituary or Immolation but the fans spoke on that one. Either way, I was going to get to rank a killer band.
I’m so proud of how far Crowbar has gone. As a NO native, I saw their transformation from WREQUIM to the Slugs to where they are now. Kirk is a great guy!
Man these past few days of work have been slammed, really sad that I missed this live ranking, for me the self titled Phil Anselmo produced album from 1993 is tops followed by 96s 'Broken Glass' & 98s ''Odd Fellows Rest'. Can't wait for the next ranking, you guys ruuuuuule!!!!!
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! I sorry you missed the premiere but I'm glad you got to check it out eventually. It was a tough call for me between Sonic, Odd, S/T and Broken Glass for my number one. Those are all top tier albums but honestly all of their albums are killer.
Awesome, been wanting to get into Crowbar much more, this will be a great guide for me and my dirty sludgy adventure in New Orleans with Crowbar From what I’ve heard, they are a pretty badass band, only have listened to self titled, Broken Glass and Zero and Below
Great video!! I listened and ranked Crowbar last month actually. Looking forward to the next 4 rankings because I listened and ranked all four of those last year too. Anyway, here's my Crowbar ranking for those interested... 1. Odd Fellows Rest 2. Sonic Excess In Its Purest Form 3. Broken Glass 4. Crowbar 5. Lifesblood For The Downtrodden 6. Time Heals Nothing 7. The Serpent Only Lies 8. Zero And Below 9. Sever The Wicked Hand 10. Equilibrium 11. Symmetry In Black 12. Obedience Thru Suffering
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Yeah, those next 4 are going to be a lot of fun for sure. Solid list, man. Looks like we've got the same 4 in our top 4 but in a different order. Can't go wrong in this discography though in my opinion.
These rankings keep getting better and better, thanks for doing one of my favourite bands. Cant wait to see them cats in Birmingham on the 2nd! Picking a favourite crowbar riff is pretty damn hard 😂 although that middle breakdown riff in broken glass makes my face hurt every time... stank!
Nick's story is the same as mine. Watching Beavis and Butthead going off on Crowbar in the mid 90's: Butthead: He's having trouble defecating. WOOOHOOO WHHOOOOOO Beavis: He he, not anymore. Butthead: Huh huh, He just took a dump. LMFAO Good band that I somehow missed in the 90's and I am just getting into their music. Thanks for the ratings and recs Thralls! \m/ \m/
can hardly wait for the next rankings. the only one I'm not into is Judas Priest as I am not a fan of NWOBHM. but the other 3 are straight fire. I will be posting my ranking for each at that time.
I think we can all agree that the real number one is Kirk’s beard. Breathtaking and majestic as fuck. I’m going to check them out. Haven’t really done a deep dive into their discography. Love this channel because it helps shed light on all these great bands!!! You guys rule!!! Keep up the great work!!
Check out some of Crowbar's live performances too. "Resurrections Fest 2014 Spain" and "Live Hate5six 2014 Philly." Most of their stuff sounds even better live.
When it comes to black dahila, I'll be interested to see where you rank the debut from 1947 (if you know you know). I'd also love to see a megadeth and tool ranking at some point down the road. I know shredlord would love the megadeth ranking
Necrotic Nick- I mean, that was "killer" one for sure. There's definitely some prime "cuts" on that one lol. Megadeth actually got beat out by Judas Priest for Shred. I was a bit surprised but I'd definitely down for some Judas Priest.
12. Equilibrium 11. The serpent only lies 10. Obedience through suffering 9. Time heals nothing 8. Sever the wicked hand 7. Life’s blood for the downtrodden 6. Zero and below 5. Symmetry in black 4. Broken glass 3. Sonic excess in its purest form 2. Crowbar 1. Odd fellows rest Cannot Fuckin wait till the Judas Priest ranking drops! You guys are the best! 🤘🏻
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, bro! Solid list, man! This was a tough one to rank. Nothing but the finest riffage from Crowbar. Yeah, Judas Priest is going to be a blast for sure.
Equilibrium is fire bruh. It’s better than like everything after Sonic Excess. I even like it more than Time Heals Nothing and definitely Obedience Thru Suffering.
Necrotic Nick- They crush live and Kirk's tone live is almost trance inducing. Judas Priest is going to take awhile for sure but I'm looking forward to it.
One of my all time fav bands, thank you so much for this guys. Kirk is such a great nice dude & riff lord, the band really definitely deserved this for sure. My fav song is "Numb Sensitive" off Time Heals Nothing & "To Carry The Load" off Odd Fellows Rest. They never make bad records definitly. Great job guys & much respect🤘🥃
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! To me they're the band that defines sludge metal and over the course of their career haven't released anything I haven't enjoyed. I've met Kirk multiple times and he's just a flat out solid dude. His wife is nice as hell too. Glad you enjoyed the ranking, man! Hails!
Kinda sucks that Obituary lost but I guess Immolation is a nice consolation prize. I was wondering when you were gonna do Immolation since you did Incantation.
Necrotic Nick- I wanted to wait till Immolation dropped their last album before considering them but they've always been one I've wanted to do. Same with Obituary but we'll get our chance in the future.
A good listen. While I can't say Crowbar is a band I listen to loads, I've always sort of liked them. My first album was Time Heals Nothing, and I've always had a soft spot for its sombre feeling and that different kind of production. Broken Glass also kills. Looking forward to Priesta nd Immolation.
Necrotic Nick- I've always had a soft spot for this band. For me, the perfectly represent the essence of sludge metal for me. The S/T was my first go and it was pretty much the set the standard for me. Priest and Immolation are going to be fun but I'm looking forward to all 4 in this next batch.
Crowbar are awesome! A decade ago I used to listen to lots of Hatebreed. I looked up Jamey Jasta on Metal-Arcives and found that he played in a band called Kingdom of Sorrow, a collab with Kirk. Behind The Blackest Tears was my first sludge metal experience. From there I found Crowbar and I've absolutely loved them ever since. My favourite album of theirs is the self-titled. I consider it one of my favourite albums of all time!
Necrotic Nick- I love this band. They are pretty much the standard I have for sludge metal in general. I have both of the Kingdom of Sorrow albums and I thought about doing a retro review for them before we did the ranking but I just didn't have time. I still may in the future though. The S/T is one of my favorites for sure and it was the first one I ever got so I have a lot of nostalgic love for that one as well.
Got to see them twice last year, once in Atlanta and once here in Knoxville. I also did two of their livestream shows when they had to cancel the 2020 tour. They easy one of my favorite bands…and one of my favorites that have some of the worst album covers.
@@KzudemRiM those first three or four did have cool artwork…odd fellows, equilibrium, sonic are all great albums but duds for covers. Then it’s all just fleur de lis more or less. Give me some artwork to go along with the crushing tunes!
Necrotic Nick- I've seen them 4 times now and they kill it every time. We watched the livestream as well and it was awesome. Yeah, some of the album covers are misses especially Equilibrium. There had to be a better band photo at least lol.
Started at Equilibrium and quickly fell in love with the band and when I heard Sonic Excess...... phew..... It blew my nuts off. I regard Sonic Excess as one the GOAT albums in metal
Necrotic Nick- It's up there. When I think of killer sludge metal albums Sonic is the first one I think of but honestly Crowbar is the first band I think of in sludge metal lol
Judas Priest are 2 spots out of the top 10 bands of all time list! 10 and 11 are The Cure and The Kinks! Love both of these bands. Made a huge impact on me personally! Both had a ton of great albums and awesome songs. All 3 I mentioned are awesome in their own right! Keep on rockin'!
I've seen Crowbar more than a couple times live and they are always heavy as fuck but for some reason I've never bought any of the albums. This video has me rethinking that decision.
Great ranking! This one is impossible. So much good material! And how about Jon trying to outsource the Priest ranking to his girl.... for that, he must suffer through every cheese filled second of Turbo....twice!
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Yeah, I moved around a lot of stuff on my list for this one for sure. It's all quality with this band honestly. Nah, I want him to listen to Nostradamus twice for that attempted side step lol.
I’m so happy that this finally dropped! Crowbar is a top 10 at worst band for me. Kirk’s music has been so important to me for over 21 years now when I got into Crowbar and Down in 2002. Honestly I’m surprised that you guys were as low on Equilibrium as you were. It’s been my #1 Crowbar album for so long now. I don’t think they have a single bad album. Haven’t really done a ranking although Obedience and Zero and Below might be my least favorites at the moment.
Necrotic Nick- In terms of sludge metal this is THE band in my mind. They are the perfect representation of the sound down to a tea. I still love Equilibrium as I do all of these albums but I prefer the balance of aggression and all the dreariness. Equilibrium has almost a more Down like quality to it and it sits right in between my 2 favorite albums by them. This was a tough ranking for sure all around though.
I own most Crowbar releases, and consider myself a pretty big fan. Very hard to rank I think, cos no album is radically different, and they all pretty much kick ass! If push came to shove though,I'd probably pick Broken Glass as my favourite. Kirk is one of the great Riff lords, along with Tony Iommi,Tommy Victor and Matt Pike,to name a few.
Necrotic Nick- Crowbar doesn't miss. Even my last place album is still one I love. That's a solid list of riff lords there. I'd throw in Gary Holt in there as well.
I never got into Crowbar despite really enjoy their music videos back in the days of Much Music(Canada's MTV). I really loved the song All I Had I Ate, I mean Gave..oops. Looking forward to the JP ranking. But honestly, Ram It Down I my dead last Judas Priest album, followed by Turbo. I don't hate Nostrodomus, once in a blue moon I can put it on as back ground music, a lot like Rocka Rolla, and enjoy it as just that. But my god I hate Ram It Down. I like Blood Red Skies, and the title track but I hate the rest of the album. At least Turbo has Turbo Lover, Out in the Cold, Wild Nights Hot and Crazy Days, and Locked In. I admit, that Turbo was the album that stopped me from being a Judas Priest fan for 20 years. 1986 was just the year too many classic Thrash albums got released for Judas Priest to go full glam. I just moved on to heavier pastures full time. It was the video game Brutal Legend that brought me back though. Brutal Legend made me a Judas Priest, Ozzy, and Megadeth fan again.
Necrotic Nick- I didn't even know this band was a thing until I saw them on Beavis & Butthead when I was a kid. Ended up becoming a bigger fan when I got older though. Judas Priest will be an interesting one and I'm not sure if I'll have some hot takes till I relisten to all of those albums again. Hell, I'm still not sure what my top ones will be at this point honestly lol
I was shocked wen you announced a crowbar ranking then announced a meshuggah ranking. Those are my 2 favorent extreme metal bands. Although down pantera and alice in chains are my top bands of all time.
@@thrallsofmetal Noticed that and damn a Black Dahlia as well that will be hard at least Judas Priest i know what are my least and most favorite pretty easily
Haha can't wait for the priest rankings, cuz I know I'm gonna be saying something uncommon in the comments lol. But please please please include kks priest in the rankings (it actually sounds like priest should sound). That's a pretty big hint on my uncommon priest views. 1. Sonic excess in its purest form 2. Sever the wicked hand. It has everything you love in crowbar but it adds wether you want to look at each song in positive or with those depressed tinted heavy riffage sunglasses with a cold one by your side or not for the sober. All other crowbar albums come in at 3 just depends on my taste at the time. Didn't rex produce lifesblood for the downtrodden?
Necrotic Nick- Judas Priest will be fun. It's not my call on KK's Priest but that is technically a separate project so it's not technically part of their discography which already has a ton of albums in it. It was a tough battle for me between Sonic, Odd Fellows, S/T and Broken Glass for that number one spot. Those all could have been number one in my ranking honestly. I'm sure if Rex did production on Lifesblood but I didn't look up all the particulars on that one since I wasn't helming it.
@@thrallsofmetal gotcha. Understand id just love to hear yalls opinion on it and compared to jp albums. In all honesty sonic is personal cuz its the one that got me hooked on crowbar. Lifesblood, the riffage is good but as a whole album it's kinda not as good as the others just because I think at that point in their discog the listener is kind of expecting more. Good luck getting through all those im particularly interested to see where the priest albums I love fall in the rankings. Lol
For me Equilibrium gets an unfair wrap. Its still up there in the classic run of odd fellows rest, equilibrium, sonic excess in its purest form and lifesblood for the downtrodden. None of the albums that came after can compare, i can't put my finger on why but the sound changed a little bit. Its still good mind as all their stuff is. But i cant play the later albums daily, whereas i can with the others. Also I don't see crowbar as depressing. It's more like... powerful.
not nearly as metal but i really wish you guys could do Tool, their my favorite band but i feel like they are one of those bands that's hard to rand their albums, anyway love the videos and cant wait for 420
Crowbars what I call “big boy metal”, I swear their music & the riffs just gives off the vibe of this huge super wide fat ass giant villain character from an OG manga & anime called fist of the North Star 😂just google image search “fat giant from fist of the North Star” & you’ll see exact what I mean, To Carry the Load sounds like it would play while that guy slowly & ominously walks towards the main hero & the ground & every thing around them is shaking like an earth quake lmao
Great rankings even though damn near impossible ranking crowbar soooo good always they don’t have a bad album. Somebody get homeboy on the left a sandwich before he eats his hand 😂
Nostradamus is not one of my favorite Priest albums at all! That is second to last on my Judas Priest ranking! No thank you! Rock operas/concept albums are not for everybody! I will be listening to The Who's Quadrophenia, The Moody Blues' Days of Future Passed, Green Day's American Idiot, The Kinks' The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society, David Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, Between the Buried and Me's Colors, Gojira's Froms Mars to Sirius. Dream Theater's Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory, Iron Maiden's Seventh Son of the Seventh Son, Queensryche's Operation: Mindcrime, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, Sepultura's Quadra, My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade, and Black Veil Brides' Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones. I know that Gojira only has 7 albums, but I wouldn't mind seeing a ranking on their albums! Definitely an incredible band like Between the Buried and Me! Awesome stuff. If you also do Dream Theater albums ranked, I'd also be down for that as well because I already know that Opeth has already been done. Lots of thrash and death metal bands need to have an episode of albums ranked, and I can't wait til some of those come out. Some of these bands I mentioned have had done more than one concept album, but these are my favorites out of all of them.
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, Nostradamus is definitely a dud in my book as well. I definitely wouldn't mind do Gojira some point in the future and we've already ranked BTBAM but that was before they dropped Colors II.
Necrotic Nick- We had to bring that one back. One of our fans gave us additional nick names like "Erotic Nick" and "Jerkin' Jon" but "Spreadlord" was the clear winner lol.
not really a good format to have it chronologically. most of your number 1s are early in the discography and then it's not really fun anymore to watch the rest of the video when you know the rest of the records are lower in your preferences. a ranking from worst to best is way better if you ask me. but then again no one asked me so yeah :)) my 2 cents on it.
Nope, from worst to best makes only sense when just 1 person is ranking the albums. If more than 1 person is involved, chronologically is the best way to do it.
Would you guys ever consider a Marduk ranking in the future. Many of their albums are underrated as hell.
Hyhy
I second this. Fuckin love Marduk
Necrotic Nick- I certainly wouldn't mind doing that one.
There are so many better Black Metal bands that are more deserving of a discography ranking than Marduk.
@@slaythembeforemeAhh you're one of those "This band is racist" type of people huh?
Crowbar is one of those bands man, the ones that stay with you for life and in the darkest moments. Top 5 shit.

Necrotic Nick- I've met them multiple times and they are some of the kindest people I've run into in the metal scene. Kirk's handshake could crush walnuts too lol. This was fun on to go over but hell to rank. They're all so damn good.
How about a Prong discography ranking
Necrotic Nick- That would be a fun one for sure.
Doing a Crowbar discog run this weekend and it's been one of my favorite ones I've done in a while. Absolutely love these dudes and that whole NOLA sludge scene. And maaan that main riff on Suffering Brings Wisdom just...DAMN lol.

Can y’all do a obsucra ranking their songs are killer
Necrotic Nick- The next ones up are Immolation, Judas Priest, The Black Dahlia Murder and Meshuggah. After those we'll get ready to pick some more.
Excited to dive into this massive ranking!
Such a great band, here's how I rank them.
12. Obedience Thru Suffering
11. The Serpent Only Lies
10. Time Heals Nothing
9. Zero and Below
8. Symmetry In Black
7. Lifesblood For The Downtrodden
6. Crowbar
5. Equilibrium
4. Sever the Wicked Hand
3. Odd Fellows Rest
2. Broken Glass
1. Sonic Excess in its Purist Form
Necrotic Nick- This is a tough one to rank since these guys are the definition of consistency in my mind. I can't argue with your number one though. That album is possibly my favorite sludge album ever.
1) Crowbar
2) Broken Glass
3) Obedience
4) Time
5) Fellows
I know the thumbnail is the picture of the band but for some reason, I keep seeing it as the Thralls of Metal crew.
Necrotic Nick- I don't think any of us have a beard as glorious as Kirk's. That thing is magnificent.
Great video, fellas! Crowbar is one of my 5 favorite bands of all time, and I own their entire catalog. Seeing them live in February 2019 is still my favorite concert I’ve ever been to. Here’s my ranking:
12) Lifesblood for the Downtrodden

10) Obedience Through Suffering
9) Time Heals Nothing
8) The Serpent Only Lies
7) Sever the Wicked Hand
6) Self-titled

4) Symmetry in Black
3) Sonic Excess in Its Purest Form
2) Broken Glass
1) Odd Fellows Rest
Listening through the entire catalog this week! Take care, guys!
Can't wait for the Immolation ranking, easily one of my favorite Death Metal bands. Every album is Killer.
Also, I'm looking forward to checking out more Judas Priest, I've only heard a few albums.
Necrotic Nick- I'm anticipating and dreading the Immolation ranking for exactly that reason lol. Judas Priest will be a lot of fun too for sure.
Crowbar is probably in my top 5 favorite Metal bands of all time I love this band….. This might be a tad controversial but I prefer Crowbar over Down…..
Absolutely 👍
Necrotic Nick- Honestly, as much as I love Nola, Crowbar is the definition of consistency for me. I love all these albums.
Current Crowbar ranking:
All albums placed at 1
But if had to pick a number one: Sonic excess
Crowbar are a legendary band in the New Orleans metal scene. They’re riffs are so crushing and heavy and yet are catchy. Not to mention Kirk Windstein, on top of being an absolute riffer, has a ton of emotion in his vocal delivery. All of their albums are amazing and here would be my ranking (also my ranking has changed from when I commented on Pair of Jeans ranking a year ago):
12. Lifesblood for the Downtrodden

10. Time Heals Nothing
9. Equilibrium
8. Obedience Thru Suffering
7. Zero and Below
6. The Serpent Only Lies

3. Broken Glass
2. Self-titled
Good ranking fellas!! Hitting any of the Milwaukee. Metalfest dates?
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Sadly I can't make it out there for Milwaukee Metalfest since we've got Denver just before that. I've already got tickets for Maryland Deathfest next year though so I'm ahead of the curve there.

Necrotic Nick- Honestly, this is one of those bands where I'd just say get it all. Even the debut, while the production is rough, is still killer. Meshuggah and Immolation are going to be tough but I'm looking forward to diving headfirst into both.
Awesome ranking guys thank you
december spawn is my fav crowbar song idk why ppl dont like it
Was that show Jon was talking about at Frankies in Toledo? If so it was an awesome show.
Necrotic Nick- It most definitely was. I was there too and Crowbar slayed that night.
I can't belive someone finally did this!!
Immolation, Judas Priest, Black Dhalia Murder, and Meshuggah??? Dude awesome fucking picks for the next rankings I can't wait for each one of those
Necrotic Nick- I'm stoked for each one of those. They're all going to be tough but I can't wait to sit back and jam those discographies again.
I really really need to check out Odd Fellows Rest from watching this, I can't wait to see Crowbar in Cardiff (UK) this month and again at Bloodstock
Kirk is a great guy!
ive listened to a handful of crowbar songs, always meant to check out more of their stuff cause theyre good! this video will help
Necrotic Nick- Just jam it all honestly. There's not a dud in this discography in my opinion.
So excited for MESHUGGAH and NIN ranking! Def top 5 bands on my book!
Great job guys, this was awesome 🤘🏻
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man!
Broken Glass is in my all time favourite album list! Sooo awesome! Definitely my no.1 Crowbar album.
1) Obedience
2) Time Heals Nothing
3) Sonic Excess
4) Odd Fellows
5) S/T
Awesome, been wanting to get into Crowbar much more, this will be a great guide for me and my dirty sludgy adventure in New Orleans with Crowbar
From what I’ve heard, they are a pretty badass band, only have listened to self titled, Broken Glass and Zero and Below
Necrotic Nick- I'd say just start with any of the top 4 on any of our lists but honestly just jam it all. It's all killer.
Great video!! I listened and ranked Crowbar last month actually. Looking forward to the next 4 rankings because I listened and ranked all four of those last year too. Anyway, here's my Crowbar ranking for those interested...
1. Odd Fellows Rest
2. Sonic Excess In Its Purest Form
3. Broken Glass
4. Crowbar
5. Lifesblood For The Downtrodden
6. Time Heals Nothing
7. The Serpent Only Lies
8. Zero And Below
9. Sever The Wicked Hand
10. Equilibrium
11. Symmetry In Black
Broken Glass and Sonic Excess are my favs from Crowbar !!
Necrotic Nick- Both of those are absolute beasts for sure.
Do a Revocation album ranking?
Necrotic Nick- Actually that was one of Jon's 4 that were up for a vote but The Black Dahlia Murder won out on that one though pretty handily.
These rankings keep getting better and better, thanks for doing one of my favourite bands. Cant wait to see them cats in Birmingham on the 2nd!
Picking a favourite crowbar riff is pretty damn hard 😂 although that middle breakdown riff in broken glass makes my face hurt every time... stank!
Which one is next
Necrotic Nick- Immolation
Crowbar are badass! Great job on the rankings guys!🤘
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man
I look forward to this I love discography rankings please do a deicide or obituary ranking
Necrotic Nick- Well, we're waiting for a new Decide album to come out and Obituary got beat out for Immolation this but we'll eventually do both.
All I had I gave is the Best Video Ever!!!.
Im glad I’m not the only one who likes crowbar
Nick's story is the same as mine. Watching Beavis and Butthead going off on Crowbar in the mid 90's:
Butthead: He's having trouble defecating.
WOOOHOOO WHHOOOOOO
Beavis: He he, not anymore.
Butthead: Huh huh, He just took a dump. LMFAO
Good band that I somehow missed in the 90's and I am just getting into their music. Thanks for the ratings and recs Thralls! \m/ \m/
can hardly wait for the next rankings. the only one I'm not into is Judas Priest as I am not a fan of NWOBHM. but the other 3 are straight fire. I will be posting my ranking for each at that time.
Necrotic Nick- I'm looking forward to doing them all. We'll let you know when we're getting close to one for sure.
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! There might not be a more powerful beard in metal honestly.
12. Equilibrium
11. The serpent only lies
10. Obedience through suffering
9. Time heals nothing
8. Sever the wicked hand
7. Life’s blood for the downtrodden
6. Zero and below
5. Symmetry in black
4. Broken glass
3. Sonic excess in its purest form
2. Crowbar
1. Odd fellows rest
Cannot Fuckin wait till the Judas Priest ranking drops!
The top 3 essential Crowbar albums to me are the self titled, Odd fellows Rest and Sonic Excess
Can‘t wait to see crowbar live in may! I’m excited for the next rankings as well! The judas priest ranking will be a monolith for sure.
Sonic excess has got the best guitar tone ever. Monstrous robust beefy fuckin tone.
Great discography ranking guys! really enjoyed it 👍🤘
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man!
Fuck yeah Shred! I just finished ranking the mighty Priest and had so much fun doing it! cant wait to see your guys picks for them!
Necrotic Nick- I'm looking forward to that one. It's going to be a long one but it'll be fun.
I’m on a Crowbar kick and this shows up! Great band and Kirk is an icon. 🤘🏻⚜️
Couldn't agree with Nick more. Sonic Excess is a perfect album.
I am emotionally connected to this band ❤
I love Hatebreeds cover of All I Had I Gave
Got to see them twice last year, once in Atlanta and once here in Knoxville. I also did two of their livestream shows when they had to cancel the 2020 tour. They easy one of my favorite bands…and one of my favorites that have some of the worst album covers.
The aesthetic of the first few albums was very cool in my opinion. Too bad they switched it up.
Love Crowbar!!!! Eyehategod would be another sludge legend discography to do
Necrotic Nick- I'd love to do Eyehategod one day for sure.
Started at Equilibrium and quickly fell in love with the band and when I heard Sonic Excess...... phew..... It blew my nuts off. I regard Sonic Excess as one the GOAT albums in metal
Necrotic Nick- It's up there. When I think of killer sludge metal albums Sonic is the first one I think of but honestly Crowbar is the first band I think of in sludge metal lol
cannot wait for immolation and mighty judas priest ranking.
hail metal godz!
Necrotic Nick- Those are definitely going to be fun ones. I'm legit looking forward to all of them.
Oh man! Love this band!
Me and Miller share the exact same taste in metal.
I love Crowbar and would struggle to rank their albums.
Necrotic Nick- Believe me, we struggled with this one. Not a legit dud in the discography in my opinion.
Necrotic Nick- Judas Priest is going to be a fun one with all those albums for sure.
"There is not an ounce of happines from this album"
Necrotic Nick- Miller's been waiting patiently to do Meshuggah for awhile now so we're glad it got picked.
@@thrallsofmetal gorguts ranking would be cool. Man indig that band. Mainly the early work.
0 and below is now my #2 after sonic exsess. Kirk might have the heaviest tone in metal.
Need to check this out , Secretely im hoping they do a Judas Priest ,Rush or Enslaved ranking or all 3 lol
Necrotic Nick- Well, you're definitely getting Judas Priest in the future.
@@thrallsofmetal Noticed that and damn a Black Dahlia as well that will be hard at least Judas Priest i know what are my least and most favorite pretty easily
Another new video! Whoop whoop!
Necrotic Nick- I hope you enjoyed it, man!
Finally…⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️
Necrotic Nick- Took a bit to get this one together but we got it done.
Haha can't wait for the priest rankings, cuz I know I'm gonna be saying something uncommon in the comments lol. But please please please include kks priest in the rankings (it actually sounds like priest should sound). That's a pretty big hint on my uncommon priest views.
1. Sonic excess in its purest form
It's more like... powerful.
You guys should do one on dying fetus or cryptopsy
Necrotic Nick- Well, we have to get through Immolation, Judas Priest, The Black Dahlia Murder and Meshuggah first before we pick any more.
This was absolutely amazing of a ranking the TBDM is going to be a stop the presses and world for that. Jacked as fuck
Especially since Jammin' Jon will have to mention that Brian Eschbach has switched from rhythm guitar to lead vocals since Trevor committed suicide.
@@robertsparling917 correct! Which he does a great job too
Necrotic Nick- That's going to be a tough one. Robert, we know what happened. Please stop bringing up people's deaths so much.
not nearly as metal but i really wish you guys could do Tool, their my favorite band but i feel like they are one of those bands that's hard to rand their albums, anyway love the videos and cant wait for 420
Necrotic Nick- One of these days I'd like to cover Tool. I've been listening to them since I was a teen so I do have a history with them.
@@thrallsofmetal that would be awesome 🤘 Ænima is my personal favorite
I really hope Sad Wings of Destiny is everyone's #1 from Judas Priest because it's still the greatest heavy metal album of all time
My top 3 would be 1. Sad Wings of Destiny 2. Painkiller 3. Jugulator
Painkiller would be #1 all across the board! Nostradamus would be DEAD LAST because it's a dumpster fire!
Sad Wings #1, Painkiller #2, Stained Class #3 👍🤘
Necrotic Nick- I guess we'll have to see.
Rank Saint Vitus pleeeeease
OVERKILL!!!!
Hype
Necrotic Nick- and of course... RIFFS!
Got into crowbar last year and damn they fuckin rule broken glass in my favorite album of theres.
Necrotic Nick- If you love riffs this band is one of THE bands for it. Broken Glass kills.
@@thrallsofmetal Fuckin A man
Still no deicide :(
Necrotic Nick- We want to wait for them to drop a new album before we do that one. We'll definitely do them eventually.
Gonna give top honors to Milers 🧔🏻♂️
Necrotic Nick- This is one where I don't think there are any wrong answers. It's all too damn good.
@@thrallsofmetal 😁
Crowbars what I call “big boy metal”, I swear their music & the riffs just gives off the vibe of this huge super wide fat ass giant villain character from an OG manga & anime called fist of the North Star 😂just google image search “fat giant from fist of the North Star” & you’ll see exact what I mean, To Carry the Load sounds like it would play while that guy slowly & ominously walks towards the main hero & the ground & every thing around them is shaking like an earth quake lmao
Am I the only one who thinks Miller looks like Paul Wall in this video lol?
Lmaooo Paul wall yes
Necrotic Nick- Had to look him up but there's definitely a resemblance lol
I definitely wouldn't mind do Gojira some point in the future and we've already ranked BTBAM but that was before they dropped Colors II.
lol, Spreadlord
💀💀 spread lord holy shit
Necrotic Nick- We had to bring that one back. One of our fans gave us additional nick names like "Erotic Nick" and "Jerkin' Jon" but "Spreadlord" was the clear winner lol.
Fuck yeah dude
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man!
not really a good format to have it chronologically. most of your number 1s are early in the discography and then it's not really fun anymore to watch the rest of the video when you know the rest of the records are lower in your preferences. a ranking from worst to best is way better if you ask me. but then again no one asked me so yeah :)) my 2 cents on it.
Nope, from worst to best makes only sense when just 1 person is ranking the albums. If more than 1 person is involved, chronologically is the best way to do it.
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, doing it chronologically also allows us to go through the history of the band too so it works as a bit of a retrospective.
Dimebag is the riff lord man. I understand you guys mentioning Tony and Kirk. But DIME guys! come on!
Necrotic Nick- Iommi is the riff lord but Dime and Kirk are some of his best pupils for sure.
