If you're having problems with. your Vizio M51a-H6, M512a-H6, and M51ax-J6 SoundBar, a good place to start is making sure the firmware is up to date.

I just did this. Followed your video and it worked. My speaker was on 1.3..0.7 before the update. The upload from the USB to the speaker took 7 minutes. It finishes with "Updated." Thank you so much.

Other than all the changes Vizio says the new firmware does? I didn’t personally notice anything but happy it’s updated.

Time will tell whether the eArc disconnect issue is repaired or not. But, for now I can tell you that the sound difference is palpable for sure!! 😮🤯

i didn't realize that my thumb drive was ExFat formatted so i was a having a hard time updating the firmware. Thanks to this vid firmware is now up to date.
i had tried to update my soundbar many times previously with zero luck. I tried again today just because Im tired of the HDMI eArc disconnects and all the other issues. I started playing this video while the bar was doing all its blinking and suddenly i hear the magic word "Updated". Im so glad! this whole time its been in the 1.1 firmware and now its all up to date!

I was reading that the current version right now isn't downloaded able because it isn't updated on the vizio page even though it says you can download the firmware to the usb it isn't the real firmware

I'm doing exactly the same process but my memory is formatted in FAT32 (as it says in the guide on the official website) I'm using a PNY 128GB USB 3.0 and the sound bar is not recognizing it, do you think it will be due to the size of the memory? Or will it be because it is USB 3.0?

Oh great I’m too stupid to even use this sound bar ! Old and dumb is not fun !
This won't fix it permanently. eARC is still broken with this version too. Only solution is to buy a new soundbar or stop using eARC for this model.
It’s strange… with the cheap Roku TV the soundbar never drops out or has issues… it’s only with the LG tv that was a lot more expensive that I have eARC connection problems 🤷♂️ This update plus a new HDMI cable seems to have fixed it 🤞

So if you’re not using a Mac, do you still have to reformat your thumb drive to ms fat
