  • Here we talk about something that needs to be checked first before TS a long crank issue. Make sure you pay attention to the Wait To Start light.

    My 99 3500 had the exact same WTS condition. Dried up electrolytic caps in the ECM had caused a few issues, including having to bump the ignition to get the voltage output to lift pump correct to prime the injection pump. Once I got it fixed I no longer have hard starts and WTS light initiates with key on like it should.

      Thanks for sharing. I suspect this pickup has an ECM going bad. I haven't had it back in yet.

    Hi, just wanted to share... battery voltage looks fairly low... I've seen a good many times... 2 strong batteries and THROUGH ground check fix this exact issue... ! I know it seems odd... but, simple and something to try. Please lmk if this happens to work for you.

    I had this problem yesterday while hot intermitently. Have a fass lift pump which I've heard can cause.this due increased fuel pressure.

      As long as you're not over 18 PSI it should be OK. Check the Wait To Start light. It should come on right when the key is turned on. If it doesnt its not going to start rigth away.

    My truck is having an identical issue. Had a lift pump go out which cause vp to burn up. Replaced both of those and now having that issue

      You try replacing the lift pump. The lift pumps are supposed to have an internal check valve in them. Or you can install a one way check valve in the line

    Good video, was there a code for the grid heater or any temperature codes? I had a similar problem on my cummins, it would not heat up completely on really cold days. I had to key on twice and let the wait to start do it's thing for two consecutive cycles. Once I figured that out, it doesn't give me anymore problems. It's my understanding that all it does is heats the air, it's stand alone and doesn't connect to anything else. You might just have a funky relay or some corroded connections.

      No I did not get any grid heater codes. The heaters on this pickup do not come on until the Wait To Start Light comes on. Even if that takes ten seconds I suspect I have a failing ECM.

    I don't find parts 2.
    I have a f650 with vp44.
    ECU shuts off lift pump during cranking. factory lift pump makes 8psi at idle. I'm told 8-16 is necessary. I am going to install a facet pump with check valve, but going to wire lift pump to run while cranking.
    My problem is hard start on first start, low power, poor fuel economy, but no smoke and no engine light. Eventually need to have pump and injectors checked.

      I havent had this pickup back in the shop yet. As soon as I do I'll make the video. I suspect this pickup has a bad ECM.

    So with my 2001 24v I have the issue of hard starts / long in the mornings but once it runs for a while it will fire right back up but if it sits for a while it hard starts again but usually not as bad. I've already got my ECM rebuilt I only have a P1693 code I fixed all fuel leaks that it had before and don't see anymore. Anyone have a idea where to look at next? Also have a new raptor factory replacement pump.

    My does the same thing but wait to start light comes on when I turn the key then takes about 10-15 second to start everytime

      It sounds like you might have some sort of fuel delivery issue. Its possibly loosing its prime or its sucking in air somewhere

    I have a chance to get my hands on a 1999 Ram 2500 Cummins automatic extra cab long bed with 98k on it. It's got the rot on the rear fenders, bottom of all doors, rocker panels and cab mount brackets. It was bought new by my neighbor originally to tow a camper, but he never ended up towing anything with it or plowing with it. What do you think it's worth?

    • @prodieselrepair3218
      @prodieselrepair3218  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Worth of any object should be defined by two things.........How much the buyer is willing to pay vs How much the owner is willing to sell for. Geographic regions as well and many other factors all play a role in that value.

      That's not usually the cause for this problem. But I'm curious as to why you think that

    • @jameswilliams4653
      @jameswilliams4653 ปีที่แล้ว

      because I replaced the TPS in my 99 Dodge without using a ohm meter, and the truck won't start unless I push on the gas paddle slightly even after the motor is HOT. @@prodieselrepair3218
