  • One of the heater hoses snapped the quick disconnect off flush with the hose while we were out of town. I had no tools with me and no way to get to an auto parts store, so we had to be towed home like 40 miles away. It wasn't cheap.
    There is no support for this hose and the line vibrates. Evidently the plastic fitting doesn't like the vibration so it broke off flush with the hose.
    I didn't use the quick disconnect going back on. I used a preformed hose about 2" longer and a few hose clamps. When I went to NAPA to get a replacement line it comes as 2 pieces, the hose and the quick disconnect. I just used a longer piece of hose.
    This is the GM high feature llt engine and was used in several model gm cars from 2009 to 2017 in some model GM cars.

    Very good idea at least now you know the plastic won't break again

      It really is a goofy design to begin with. In my mind. There is no reason to even need a quick release on a hose like that.
      Sorry to hear about the troubles with your wife's car.

    I had this happen to me this weekend and by the time I got the one off that broke I had broken another one......I figured it was a matter of time before another popped. Mine was the PLASTIC T fitting near the heater core.
    So I pulled all the hoses off and am just going to run hose and clamps. I was worried the hose would slip off the quick disconnect pieces because they are not knurled to keep the hose on, so I put a couple of small beads of weld on each one. Gotta go get some metal t barbs tomorrow then put it all back together.

    This video doesnt show anything on how to do it, just shows what is broken and says that it needs replacing, but doesnt show anything on how to do it.

    I replaced both those hoses added maybe 2 cups of coolant the reservoir and started the car after 10 minutes engine temp went back up to 260 so i shut it off i can hear radiator fan blowing and coolant is bubbling in the reservoir any idea what else if anything can be wrong

      Pull the cover off. The radiator cap is under the plastic trim piece. You need to fill the entire system. It would never pull enough out of the reservoir to fill. Takes maybe 2 gallons or so.

    I am having the same issue with my Acadia and don't want to buy a new hose how did you get off the other end connected to the thermostat housing?

    • @russellbarron6775
      @russellbarron6775  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the new hose didn't come with the plastic end already attached, you he to buy the quick connect separately. I just used the hose and connected it directly to the housing using a hose clamp. So far, so good.
      If you take your old hose with you to compare with one at the parts store, you will get one that is about an inch longer than the hose that it actually calls for. You will have to remove the plastic clip from the housing. That is pretty much it. I really don't like plastic parts very much.
