    For someone who lives in the country where Google doesn't ship both phones into, Pixel 5a seems more reasonable option, as importers kinda bump up Pixel 6 price quite much. The price gap between the two is almost USD360 here.

      @jb8097 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      En México sucede lo mismo, la importación es muy cara, han habido quejas de users porque la batería de pixel 6 es menor al 5a, ojalá se pudiera vender con garantía en mi país. Suerte con tu smartphone

    The strategy is:
    Pixel 5a: budget phone
    Pixel 6: upper mid-range
    Pixel 6 Pro: flagship
    The pricing structure is reflected in features and hardware.
    Great video BTW!

    • @Ziadgamer3218

      What about the 4a?? They still selling it I think the pixel 4a as budget, 5a as mid range, 6 as upper mid range and 6 pro as the flagships.
      Btw I like this strategy tbh it's very simple

      A $450 retail "budget phone" with a more powerful processor than 82% of the phones out there being used. Google really needs to cut down that price but these 2 phones look great. I will wait for the Pixel 6a 5g but I wouldn't be shocked if they raised the price to $475-500 which is too much.

    Love my pixel 5a. It replaced my Pixel 3XL. And the most notable thing I can think of is the insane battery. When I leave my phone in my backpack and check it now and then over a 10 hour work day. XL was at like 60% but my 5a might be at about 90. It's that much better.
    I did not use battery saver
    Also I lost wireless charging and got my HEADPHONE JACK BACK!!! Easily the best trade ever. I have magnetic wire charger sets and adore them more then wireless. But to have that headphone jack again, it was sorely missed!

    First review I've seen pointing out the durability difference, which was a significant factor for me. Case + 3.5mm dongle makes the price difference wide enough that I went with the 5a. I don't use my phone enough to justify paying that much.
    5a's construction is much like my prior phone which has survived plenty of falls and only a barely-noticeable scratch to show for it. Besides the glass and camera bump, I saw several reports of people trying out their pixel 6 before their case arrived, only to have a cracked phone after a single day of using it as it slipped off of some surface.

  • @TrivikramKamat

    My concerns with Pixel 6:
    * Major: a slow in-display optical fingerprint sensor is a big step backward. Pixel phones should either stick with practical and reliable fingerprint sensor at the back, or switch to ultrasonic scanner.
    * Major: adding a glass back is not practical for day to day use. Pixel phones should use Aluminium back like Pixel5, or use high quality plastic.
    * Medium: Avoid camera bumps, or make the bumps smooth. It hurts the fingers.
    * Medium: Release Pixel non-pro in the smaller size, between 5.8-inch and 6.1-inch. You're competing with non-Pro iPhones.
    * Minor: Bring back the free photo storage with Google Photos for Pixel fans?
    I hope Pixel6a or Pixel7 fulfills some requests from this wishlist.

    • @JakeZeno
      @JakeZeno 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also the fingerprint scanner gets permanently disabled if the phone runs out of battery and can only be fixed with a factory reset.

    • @pyro226
      @pyro226 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually dislike the sensor in the 6 due to field of depth issues caused by the larger sensor. It handles dim / night shots with less noise. It also has better image crop, but optical crop pales in comparison to telephoto lens.

      Yup spot on. I have the 6 pro, it's too big and too heavy, and slippery and average fingerprint unlock. Prefer the unlock on the back. 5a needs wireless charging and 90h. I think I preferred my pixel 5 over this new 6 pro.

If applicable, disable always-on display, music recognition, "hey Google" audio support if you can live without them as they all drain the battery too. On the 2XL, 8 had the best battery, 9 was pretty good too, 10 was horrendous, and 11 is decent, but not as long as 8/9.

    If you live most of your life through your phone, as so many do these days, paying for the current pinnacle of performance is understandable. But for those who do not live most of their life through a 6 inch diagonal porthole, *value* is the way to go. Likewise, if your peer group worships at the altar of rose gold or folding phone status, all Pixels are not for you. Just buy an iPhone or a Galaxy on the time payment plan and bask in the glory -- until the next model introduction.
    Phones are like jewelry these days. Fashion is a big deal. But Zircons look just as nice as diamonds. The trouble is that YOU know the difference, and Zircons may make depression therapy a life style for you. But Prozac may cost more than an iPhone payment.
    Phones are like that. I know; it's absurd. So is lipstick on a sheep.

    11 hours of TH-cam streaming? That doesn't really add up with other reviews I've seen of the Pixel 6. Every other battery life review I've seen show worse battery life than my Pixel 5 and my Pixel 5 doesn't even get close to 11 hours of TH-cam streaming. So kind of interesting that this review showed battery life streaming TH-cam being WAY better than my Pixel 5.
    And just for reference, my Pixel 5 on wifi, airplane mode on, 50% brightness and 90hz off will last about 7.5 hours streaming TH-cam.

      He was talking about the 5a, not the 5. The 5 has a smaller battery and high refresh rate

    • @jimv1983
      @jimv1983 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mundolinux2250 I know that. I wasn't talking about the Pixel 5a. I was talking about the Pixel 6 and how it compares to my Pixel 5.
      This video says the Pixel 6 can stream TH-cam for 11 hours. Other comparisons have shown the Pixel 6 to have better battery life than the Pixel 5 (again, not the Pixel 5a) but the Pixel 5 doesn't even get close to 11 hours of streaming TH-cam. Even on wifi the Pixel 5 can go maybe 7-8 hours of streaming. Due to that I'm skeptical of the battery claims of the Pixel 6 in this video.

  • @chieflingco
    @chieflingco 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    For 150 bucks extra. Pixel 6 is a no brainer. If u have money for pixel 5a don't buy it instead just save up a bit longer for the 6. U got Android 12 out of the box instead of Android 11 so you get to see Android 15 plus 2 years of security updates after Android 15. 90hz refresh, company- made processor that's better than the snapdragon predecessor , and better battery life despite it having a higher power consuming 90hz screen which in theory should make the battery drain faster WHILE it has a smaller battery cell than the 5a. So worth it for 150 extra!!!!

    I've had the pixel 5a for about a week and I'm thinking of returning it to get the Pixel 6. Not sure though so would love your guy's suggestions!
    So far the battery is decent enough. Performance does stutter often but does get the job done. I've noticed the screen isn't as responsive. Sometimes I have tap multiple times in order for it to register. Also, there's lots of times when I change a setting, the phone doesn't adhere to the change ( for example I'll change the notification sound and it randomly plays the new one and randomly play the old sound, etc). Also, the screen does not get that bright at all. And the speaker is not loud. The volume is even low while using headphones.
    I did buy the phone for $399 so I think this video review is clear and concise. Do I want pay $200 more for similar average battery life and for a more responsive phone, a bit brighter screen and louder speaker?! Idk it is nice having the finger print sensor in the back.

I bought the pixel 6 since I'm planning on keeping this phone for a while but I'm not sure it would be worth an upgrade from the 5 a. Personally I would say wait for the 6a or 7
