He was interested in my husband's Family Tree because of the contribution made by our family to Cathedral worship in Carlisle ,and to politics and the welfare of mining families in Midlothian and Cumbria. I was amazed when the Prince said," It must be fun finding out one's history for oneself.I had mine handed to me on a plate." Such a nice man to talk to.

I worked on their nether lypiatt manor home and its truely stunning, the gardens are beautiful. Staircase is amazing from the basement to the top and as i was bolstering the flaunching off i was sure a voice told me to SHHHH in my ear, i stopped and looked but i was alone on the stairs. We even found some old monopoly money in the plastered wall, i take it one of their children hid it in there maybe?. Lord Drayson has purchased an amazing property. Im not suprised in the slightest that she didnt want to give it up.

Charles won't hear of it though. He even snubs his nieces Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie who also aren't given any Royal duties. It's crazy! I quite agree, there always seemed to be an attempt to keep them in obscurity, the Queen Mother would have had her hand in that just as she blamed Wallis for the abdication by Edward, it was the palace courtiers with the government that had serious doubts about his suitability, willingness to do the job, which he found boring and spent little time doing, to his Nazi sympathies which really alarmed everyone, they would never have let him become King and Wallis was the scapegoat they used to avert disaster. Wallis did not want to marry him, in fact she tried to leave for Paris quietly but was betrayed . Edward found out and threatened to kill himself, if she ever left him. They were not equal partners in any sense, Wallis was intelligent, he was not, most found him rather tiresome and boring. She had to live with that , and the memory of the man she really loved and had been an equal partner in their marriage coming to that realization too late. That must have left a hurt we cannot fathom, so if she on occasion was a bit snappy with him, I understand why. Wallace sacrificed her personal happiness to marry Edward and stay married until he died. I could not have done that, I would have said, No, don't wish to marry you sir, if want to kill yourself-- your problem, not mine. It boggles the mind of the hatred the Queen mother had for her, it was Wallis who killed her husband too. I agree his role was a heavy one, but his smoking was the cause of his health issues, the power of the Queen mother behind the scenes to tarnish those she dislikes is scary, even Prince Philip had to deal with her underhanded scheming to put a wedge between himself and the Queen. Unfortunately, Prince Charles has that same mindset to a degree, very likely due to the Queen Mother's influence . As you say, there are others there to help with duties, how they are to keep up with all the obligations with so few people to carry them out will be a test of his theory. I think, it will become an issue of two few and too many obligations. Than what happens . Interested to see how this plays out.

Princess Michael is a stunning, intelligent woman full.of personality and a rrspected historian. Unfortunately our Royal family didn't appreciate her obvious gifts as an assert and instead sneered at her and consigned her (and her handsome huzband) to the obscurity of being minor Royals without public duties. Of course she would probably have outshone all the other Royal women - apart from Diana. There was huge jealousy and backbiting towards Marie (Princesz Michael) at Buckingham and Kensington Palaces by courtiers who duly leaked unflattering stories about her - which is their modus operandi when new brides seems to potentially threaten the popularity of the Queen's immediate family members. So pathetic!!
Now with all the fuss over the departure of Prince Harry they could have called on the Princess and her eqally stunning grown childten...lady Gabriella and Lord Frederick to do duties on behalf of the Queen. Charles won't hear of it though. He even snubs his nieces Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie who also aren't given any Royal duties. It's crazy! All these potsntial assets going to.waste. the RF shouid be more democratic from within, and utilise all its members. Princess Michael woukd have been a superb representative of the monarchy.
I quite agree, there always seemed to be an attempt to keep them in obscurity, the Queen Mother would have had her hand in that just as she blamed Wallis for the abdication by Edward, it was the palace courtiers with the government that had serious doubts about his suitability, willingness to do the job, which he found boring and spent little time doing, to his Nazi sympathies which really alarmed everyone, they would never have let him become King and Wallis was the scapegoat they used to avert disaster. Wallis did not want to marry him, in fact she tried to leave for Paris quietly but was betrayed . Edward found out and threatened to kill himself, if she ever left him. Put yourself in her shoes-- what was she going to do? Leave, refuse the marriage if he kills himself -she is to blame, she marries him, he will abdicate, again her fault. Wallis resigned herself to a life of rejection by the royals and society, a man child whose supposed love was a obsession and needed constant mothering . They were not equal partners in any sense, Wallis was intelligent, he was not, most found him rather tiresome and boring. She had to live with that , and the memory of the man she really loved and had been an equal partner in their marriage coming to that realization too late. That must have left a hurt we cannot fathom, so if she on occasion was a bit snappy with him, I understand why. Wallace sacrificed her personal happiness to marry Edward and stay married until he died. I could not have done that, I would have said, No, don't wish to marry you sir, if want to kill yourself-- your problem, not mine. It boggles the mind of the hatred the Queen mother had for her, it was Wallis who killed her husband too. I agree his role was a heavy one, but his smoking was the cause of his health issues, the power of the Queen mother behind the scenes to tarnish those she dislikes is scary, even Prince Philip had to deal with her underhanded scheming to put a wedge between himself and the Queen. Unfortunately, Prince Charles has that same mindset to a degree, very likely due to the Queen Mother's influence . As you say, there are others there to help with duties, how they are to keep up with all the obligations with so few people to carry them out will be a test of his theory. I think, it will become an issue of two few and too many obligations. Than what happens . Interested to see how this plays out.
Imagine her marrying into the line of succession, rather than the sexier, edgier fringes of the royal family. You kinda can't see her doing it (way out of league, for Camilla's lover), but also wish you could witness how she'd get along with the Queen.
