4:52 Yes, the idea here is to have a portable system you can carry on your backpack (ideally in a case), not in your pocket. Also, I think it's 100% worth it because of 2 reasons: 1. It's hall effect joysticks, they're way more precise, durable and almost immune to the drift issue (not sure if you mention this in the video). 2. The joysticks being taller is not just about a better feeling when using them, it's also about having a physically wider range from 0-1, which adds even more precision. 7:30
100% agree, 406 is a big improvement over 405, but that isn't always what interests people outside of our community. The sticks are also so much better to use, being only a backpack console is worth it
Amazing stuff as always man! I've never heard of Mission Impossible Surma, looks AWESOME! And glad to hear you're a fellow F1 fan, that was a hell of a race!
One of the reasons 406v is appealing is that I wanted an emulation device that can be played on the go and and docked like a switch. More specifically, I wanted something to emulate Dreamcast, n64, psx/ps2 , gc, on my tv without having to have a computer or breaking the bank. That’s what prompted me to get the 405v, but the lack of video out and lousy sticks was a bit disappointing. The 406v seems to fix my two biggest issues, so I’m excited to see it! On that note, I do wish reviewers would also talk about the video out and Bluetooth controller comparability. Although, I do get that I’m probably in the minority for handheld emulator users who like playing them docked.
PS2 is the console that is hard to tell if it's emulated full speed or no at times. Some games struggled to maintain 20 fps even on the original hardware. Sound stutters are the main sign of emulation slowdown basically
Im not sure what to get this Rg406V or retroid pocket 5 what would you suggest ? I have the rg353v but want something bit more powerful and larger screen
Hmmm, tricky. The Retroid Pocket 5 is definitely more powerful, so if that's important to you go for that. I prefer the form factor of the RG406V though
@ChronikSpartan thanks for getting back to me .. yeh I think I'm going to go for the pocket 5 that ammolled screen looks real nice .. I like the vertical form of the Rg406v but I already have the rg353v which is verticle also
i was thinking demeech got a custom shell for the rg405v and i kept asking him if there were ones for rg353v which is what i have, but then i saw this video and im just now learning that there is the existence of an rg406v
I really like the white color. I’m looking forward to the horizontal version. You don’t really need analogue triggers really. Those didn’t really come into play till ps3. And 360. Sure, game cube kinda had them but not that many games actually used it.

Yeah tududu Max Verstappen!
Operation Surma really is great! You should definitely check it out.
Oh man, it's such a great season so far!!

It's an awesome way to use it, but I must admit I hardly use any of my consoles like that. I might have to start doing it.
@@ChronikSpartan Am I wrong or is it possible to then blue tooth external controller as well?
Hi, how do you get the game ‘The thing’ & Silent hill 2? Are they pre-installed??! Thanks
They're not pre installed. To add any games you have to source them yourself online
My first rg406v had the right stick fail after 2 months. I got a replacement but curious if this is common
Hmmm, I've not had an issue like that, but with them protruding so much I do feel like they're vulnerable
Nice review! I like the 405V/406V. Woodgrain 405V, Gray 406V.
Thanks mate! Yes they're both fantastic consoles and look amazing!!
PS2 is the console that is hard to tell if it's emulated full speed or no at times. Some games struggled to maintain 20 fps even on the original hardware.
Sound stutters are the main sign of emulation slowdown basically
Yes that's very true, the sound is always the most obvious giveaway

I have the 406V and I love it! It really is truly special to me anyway
It is such a lovely console!
Does the RG406V come preinstalled with games, or do you have to install them yourself? If not, how can I get them?
They need an SD card with the game's on or you can download straight to the device.
It work's with Android games too
@@ChronikSpartan Do they give you an SD card with the games?
Update us when you finish The Thing! I want to know what you think of the latter half
I've still not finished it yet but I'm so tempted to get the remake!
Dude, get some JNCOs, go full skater, and this will totally be pocketable!😂
Early 00s nu metal vibes 🤘

Glad I could help buddy!
For people who have played both the 406h and 406v: which one is more confortable for longer sessions?
I'll let you know when I get the 406h but I believe that will probably be more comfortable
5:52 Full day of charge out of it? total how many hours you're able to play....?
Sorry I don't really fully record the hours but around 7-8
Where are the games? Mine came with no games and after I put in the sd 256g card
I guess it depends what supplier you got it from. You'll probably have to add your own games
@ChronikSpartan I paid for the games will return thanks
@sergequick5053 ah ok, that's not cool. Make sure there isn't another card somewhere in the box
@ChronikSpartan no other card just the 256g sd card. So it's supposed to turn on with the games preloaded in the system already?
I’m looking for a handheld that can play ssx and ssx tricky.. 😔
I play Tricky on my Steam Deck. I'll try it on the Retroid Pocket Mini though
First game I tried on my 406v, runs/looks incredible. Same with SSX 3. I've really not found a single PS2/GC game yet that has any issues.
I can Play SSX Tricky in low end Dimensity 7020 device. 60FPS NetherSX2 so this new 406V can play that too for sure.
I really like the white color. I’m looking forward to the horizontal version. You don’t really need analogue triggers really. Those didn’t really come into play till ps3. And 360. Sure, game cube kinda had them but not that many games actually used it.
For me it's Dreamcast where it makes a difference
Play the game and watch for 30 days that will be entertaining
Haha, I was tempted to do tamagotchi at one point 🤣
@ChronikSpartan give it a go!
Im hoping someone can make third party cases or skins for it
That would be interesting!
U never told us the name of the console
How uncharacteristic of me!
@@ChronikSpartan lol I gotcha 👌 😉 😌
Bro, Syphon Filter
🔥🔥🔥
for 200$ ill grab a 3ds ...price is crazy.
The price of these handhelds is creeping up, but then again so is the quality
