- Càrn Liath (Beinn a' Ghlò)
Beinn a' Ghlò is a range of hills than a single peak, Beinn a' Ghlò has three Munro summits giving a strenuous day. The summits may be rounded, but the steep flanks and sculpted form of this great massif makes for a memorable outing. The terrain is mostly good paths, with steep descents between the peaks and some rough ground.
Càrn Liath is the lowest of Beinn a' Ghlò's three summits, but it is also the most accessible - and the most prominent when seen from the main A9 road.
Given the weather conditions we had expected we chose to try and do two of the three summits. In the end we only done the one. We'll be back in better conditions, carrying our bivvy bags!! :-)

Wonderful and how cozy in the van afterwards 👍
Thanks Kevin. The van definitely helps. 😊🙏🔥
I’ve had a Mammut shell in that colour for many years, and many adventures. When people would say ‘that’s a bit bright’ , I’d always say “ it makes it easier for the rescue helicopter to find you”. May you two have many more adventures 😊
Haha yeah we’ve had a few comments about the colour! 😂 If it’s good enough for The North Face summit series, it’s good enough for me! 😁
Beautiful remote areas of Scotland
Pretty fortunate! 😊🙏
Thanks for sharing this one, enjoyed the watch, comes through the screen very well!
Always great to get back out after a wee layoff. Safe walking, Duncan.
Hi Duncan, thank you for watching. Yes it certainly cleared out a few cobwebs! 😄🤘
Another great video, thanks very much for that 👍
Thank you Tony. 😊🙌🙏
Wow, that car park has changed a bit. The last time I was up there there was only room for about 8 or 10 cars if I remember correctly. Nice wee film as usual D & L. Cheers.
Hi Alan, Yeah it’s quite substantial. At least people have no excuse for parking irresponsibly now! Thanks for watching as normal Alan. 😊🙏 L&D
Hi Guys, cracking video. The weather looked a little chilly at the top as you said, but always nice to get out. Thanks for sharing your days adventure as always. 😀🥾🏔️🏴
Hi Dave, It was chilly but was the fresh air and exercise we needed. Thanks for watching. 😊🙏
Scotland doesn't need sunshine to look breathtaking, I've come to love the grey, misty landscapes. You took the right decision to call it a day though and a glass of gin looks like a great plan B 🙂
Yeah I think I agree! Mean and moody! 😄
Yeah we knew we would be doing it all given the weather. We’ll return with our bivvy bags later this year. Take care Val. 🫡😊🤘
Another great video!!!!
Cheers Mac. 🤘😊
Hi Guys, just good to get out and air the boots 😁
👍🏔
Hi Dave, Yeah that exactly it. Fresh air and a wee leg stretch. 😊🙏
Always better to pick the safer option!
Great video guys , I climbed Carn Liath but it was summer time 😀 , I could see Carn Liath from Schiehallion .
Thank you! 😃🤘 Just about to upload a new video from Schiehallion now. 😁🤘
@@ontheadventuretrails-scotl9389 Excellent ❤️
Scant consolation but it's magnificent up there on a clear day with the sun out. Well done. Not sure I like that new car park - eyesore!
We’ll be back in the next couple of months!
I think the car park will blend in a little better over time. The camera angle makes it look bigger than it is, still substantial mind you!
Nothing wrong with using your experience & turning back cos as we know the hills will still be there the next time. Great video nontheless & I look forward to the next. Take care guys
Hi Michael, Yeah we knew we wouldn’t be doing it all given the weather. Still nice to do a bit of it. We’ll return with our bivvy bags later this year. 😁🤘
Impressed with the new car park - had heard it was to be done but not been round for a look. Sensible decision given the length of the route doing all three Munros. Another enjoyable video - look forward to the next one. Oh and please do one on Ben Vrackie or as we say in Pitlochry Ben Y Vrackie 👍
Yeah lots of work has gone into the car park. Will be nicer when the berms go green. An improvement on the old parking arrangements. Thanks for watching. 😄🙏
Oh.. we’ll be heading up Ben Y Vrackie at some point soon.. ish! 😁🤘
@@ontheadventuretrails-scotl9389 Would be great to see a video of yours on it. Best not to just go up and down the main track - a bit more adventurous to head east from the summit along the ridge to the bealach below Carn Geal then follow a good track back to main path.
Still a good video regardless of outcome. Keep up the good work Troops. 👍
Hiya Johnny, Wasn’t sure I was going to bother editing it but worth it in the end. Cheers for watching buddy. 😊🙏
Nice wee video again 👍
It is a big route that to continue if i remember correctly with a long walk back.
Many Munros you on now ?
Hi Stevie, Yeah we knew we wouldn’t be doing it all given the weather. Still nice to do a bit of it. We’ll return with our bivvy bags later this year.
No idea how many we’ve done. We don’t actually go out to bag them. Done one or two though! 😁🤘
Another great clip pity aboot the views remember in my younger days
Getting the train to blair Atholl and walking to the summit fae the station
Done the same.on vrackie fae Pitlochry station still active o to be young again 🤣🤣
Hi Keith, That’s quite an undertaking on both those. Our wee outing is quite short in comparison! 😄🙏🤘🙌🫡
