Thanks for watching my video. I gathered all the songs I shot at this concert in a TH-cam playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLwdc0qZNx0tasUDnxHmx6lXiLbSr1B9P1.html. The songs are Goodbye, Baby, Talk Talk, Ruthless, Love On The Ground, Spells, Hurricane, Golden (Harry Styles cover), Fire For You, and Evening Star. Enjoy!
First night of the tour so I didn't have a setlist from past nights, and the thing about these little point-and-shoot zoom cameras that you fit inside your pocket is they literally overheat and shut off if you shoot 4K videos for too long. A bigger camera wouldn't have the same issues, but then the venue wouldn't have let me bring it inside. 😰
Thinking you were the guy on the rail in the lower loge. (Two rows in front of me) I wasn’t impressed with the audio. She kept messing with her left ear which I think must have been a signal to the sound board that her in ear monitors weren’t right. There were definitely some pitchy vocals in some of the songs. (Hurricane) Nice job with the video though- will have to check out any others you uploaded from the night.
This is is my first time seeing Cannons live--love them--but I did notice some of the audio issues you're describing. I've even seen the exact same ear monitor problem with other artists at The Warfield--JoJo comes to mind from her show in March--and the sound mix is also often bad there. You can really hear it in the next song I'll post (Talk Talk); like a lot of Warfield shows, the bass is too dominant in the mix.
Yeah. Ear monitor. (See? My audio tech degree isn't going to waste.) She gets stage fright, but I definitely think it's the ear monitor. Sometimes the wireless tech cuts out. I've heard her song this live on School Night and it's not pitchy. Another issue I hear is the digital recording isn't picking up certain tones. My vocal coach says I'm pitchy. Lol
Totally agree that a digital recording loses nuance you hear live, though FWIW, the twin mics on this camera are pretty high fidelity. By the way, I also noticed that Michelle had a filter on her vocals to layer in an aura/depth to her singing--you can especially hear it on Golden--but the risk with a vocal modification like that is that it can make things sound warped or distorted in certain moments.

I will come to you in the USA and take Michelle Joy to my place in Russia!
