The storyline of the game has multiple changes from the anime and manga, there are new areas and new characters, while existing ones are rewritten, for one Alcione was turned from a stock and annoying henchwoman (esp. in the 2nd season of the anime) to a really awesome villainess with a dramatic flair. Her and Umi's interactions are pure gold. Ascot also gained incredible substance in the game and his fate was absolutely tragic, while in the original storyline he simply was "just there". Personally I much prefer the game's storyline. Only the ending, which was dramatic and a huge plot twist (and set up the events in the 2nd season, absent in the game) was kept and here, with the game having a more lighthearted tone, it seems a bit out of place.
Playing this for the first time. I’m half way through and loving every minute. Have played jrpg’s since 1993 and never I never seem to get tired of them 😂

Did you know that when you listen to music on your sega saturn that if you have that little jet ship fly around for more then 10 hours you actually find a new planet. The planet looks similar to Solar Eclipse

Lunar is still impressive for what it was tbh. It was an original story, didn't come from any existing series, and there was barely anything like it on the Mega CD/Sega CD
I can't believe how much of this game I remember after all these years. The voice acting was *excellent* for the time, even if it hasn't aged well in comparison to what is available today. Personally, I prefer it to the dubs on the anime that was released on VHS in the US a few years after the game came out.
Yeah it sounds fine to me! I tried to play the "unsub" version that retains the original Japanese voice acting. I don't understand why any English speaker would want to hear a language they don't understand. Will definitely be trying out this version, it sounds great!
Honestly, I hope the NX has Saturn games. A re-release of any kind would significantly help people experience these amazing games. Hell, they might even localize some of the more popular import titles if it did well.
Would be hard to do as Working Designs dissolved a long time ago and the source code to most of these games has been lost. Difficult to believe but it is the truth. I would love to play Dragon Force on the Wii.
Thanos of Titan So, just borrow ROM files, then. I don't need them to remake the games, just emulate them. Borrow the SSF code, cause that Saturn emulator does it better than any other. It even fixes crosshatching, among other things. If they put Nocturne in the Moonlight on Virtual Console running the SSF software, that game would be much more popular. No slowdown, load times AND fixes most of the graphical problems (given a majority of them use crosshatching, which can be replaced with the "mesh translucency" option of the emulator) that people hated about it. Also, Maria. Come on, who doesn't want to play Adult Maria? What an amazing character development.
There's also an upcoming game for PS4 and Nintendo Switch with Magic Knight Rayearth in it. It's called Super Robot Wars T and it's a crossover game of several robot anime.
Anyone watching this video thinking it isn't a very long game, it took me double this to get to the end the first time I played it, I heard it wasn't very long also, but you won't finish it in 8 hours the first time through.
Y’know, for a 1998 Saturn title at a time like this. This was pretty uptight for a game based off of the anime I assume wasn’t it? Because really, it looks fun.
Its a shame it was released so late, as though the school girl centred story line is not for everyone, the game would've been a very solid, and likable early Saturn release.

@@morriganrenfield8240 Saturn emulation is not great on cheap ARM powered devices and Sega will never put together the technical resources to make a custom built Saturn Emulator that performs fast and accurately on a cheap ARM chip. They would need to sell a $200+ device which would have a very small market and probably not be worth it economically for Sega. Plus the market is already small for Saturn as it is because very few people in the US have any nostalgia for it. Way less than the Genesis at least.

Wirking designs was a tiny company. Also this game started localization in 95 or so, a year after the games Japanese release, and was pushed back like 3 years due to technical issues. This is much better than most anime dubs in 95-96. People are so spoiled with good voice acting in games nowadays that they retroactively criticize games from when the industry was barely budding.

This game adapted only half of the manga/first season of the anime with some changes to the story. The last half/second season tied up all those loose ends and it's amazing.

it's a re-adaptation some things are thrown out some are added, the game was made in 1995 so it was before the anime has ended so it has a different ending.
A remake would be good, especially if they got some better voice acting (either keep it Japanese with English text or hire voice actors who can do a better job) and rewrite the story to be more in line with the anime.

Man it's hard to watch this I'm a big fan of magic knight rayearth and hearing those voices mispronounce some names and the fact that their not the same voice actor is killing me.
