    Nice review. Living in Rocky Mountains now but called Southeast US home for many years. Seeing the on-road segments reminded me of riding/racing in that region. Anyway question about the fit of the ABUS Airbreaker. I'm a fan of Specialized helmets (Prevail II) because they tend to fit more narrow side to side. My skull is narrower than it is long so "round" fitting/lasted helmets present challenges with side-to-side movement unless the helmet is really cinched down, which results if pressure points on front. Anyway would appreciate your feedback.

    • @BlackWaterCyclist
      @BlackWaterCyclist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Man you have definitely upgraded your riding terrain! The Abus definitely fits narrow on the sides and longer front to back. I really like the fit of it. I unfortunately have not tried the Prevail II so cannot give a great comparison. I had the first generation prevail and really liked it so I think this will fit perfect for you.

    Hey! have you tried the poc ventral air spin? im looking at the airbreaker and the ventral, wondering which one has better ventilation. (review the poc ventral air spin soonn!!)

    • @BlackWaterCyclist
      @BlackWaterCyclist  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not but it's on my short list to try. Supposed to be one of the best when it comes to ventilation. I read one reviewer say the POC Ventral Air Spin was as good as the old Giro Aeon with air flow and if that's the case then the Airbreaker is pretty comparable to the Ventral as far as air flow. That's the best I can give you for now.

    I came here to understand the fit of the helmet: i.e. the shape (round, oval etc). You didn't mention that at all (I don't think). I need a narrow helmet for my very narrow head and youtuber after youtuber say "it fits great".... What is the internal shape of the helmet?

    How would you compare the feel of this vs the Aether? Just watched both videos - great insight. Thank you.

    • @BlackWaterCyclist
      @BlackWaterCyclist  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a tough decision since helmets are very unique to the wearer. I like the ABUS just a little more because of weight, airflow, and a little narrower when looking at it from the front. It may have a little bit better aerodynamics due to it being sightly narrower but that's just based on the width of it. According to the wind tunnel test, a bare shaved head is the fastest so basically the smaller frontal area will be faster. I know I just mentioned everything but fit. For me the fit was very similar between both helmets so I based my decision on all the other aspects of the helmets. They both are very comfortable but I feel the ABUS had just a little more robust dial. I hope that helps.

      @@BlackWaterCyclist any one fit glasses better than the other? I’m from Australia, so can’t try the Abus anywhere. Thanks for reply btw

    • @BlackWaterCyclist
      @BlackWaterCyclist  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The glasses would go to the Aether due to it having the little rubber pieces to hold the glasses in place better. The ABUS can hold glasses as well but I have had my glasses fall off when I looked back and the wind caught the edge of the glasses. But that is with some glasses that have very straight arms. If you run sports glasses that have the curved grippy arms, the ABUS may do fine. Giro is really good about designing their helmets to hold glasses. If I didn't go with the ABUS (which isn't available in the states either) I would use the Aether. They are so close honestly that I would give them both a 9 out of 10.

    I just got my brand new abus airbreaker and I I think it’s problematic. The “screw” thing that is located in the center of the inner helmet that is supposed to keep the pads in touch with the inner of the helmet cannot get back securely and without falling. I did whatever the small instructions said but now I have this problem. Do you know what I should do?

    • @BlackWaterCyclist

      I unscrewed mine once but screwed it right back in with no issues. Have you contacted ABUS yet about the issue? If it is messed up, they may send you a new mechanism or a new helmet.
