PSA: We don't know how Scarlet Spider works with Symbiote Spider-Man yet. Activates can only be triggered once per game and it's possible that SSM's Activate will negate Scarlet Spider's ability to Activate - whether that's intended or just a product of how Activate is coded. Another example of how new cards may not work as we think!
This card would be very good in the past but in an era where we have openly got 3/14s in Marvel Boy.. I don't think he's an insane card right now.
He needs boosted to get value.
Just like panther or other x2 effects.
Needs chavez, okoye, nakia, iron heart, shuri, and other series 4&5 cards that add power. Could be a great card in zabu/psylocke with gwenpool/shawi. I'm interested to see him in war machine and how he interacts with symbiote spiderman. Boom 9 power in two lanes If it works?
He requires more thought than Marvel Boy, but is just as good imo. He works with a larger variety of cards instead of just 1 drops. He forgot to mention Mockingbird for instance. But, also any card that buffs cards which he didn't name all of them, not even close

Marvel Boy is good as a 3/14 because he is attached to zoo and nothing they do makes zoo OP. Scarlet Spider is just a 4/10 that can be played anywhere and you can profit from it.
I think Scarlet Spider is going to be a good card but not as powerful as people seem to think it will be, it's always dependent on support cards, or favorable locations to get the real benefit out of it, which is Scarlet with added power, because when it comes to just cloning a 4/5, Doctor Doom seems like a more slick and less awkward way of achieving the same effect, plus you can use him with Wong and/or Odin.
Honestly it'd have been so much fun if the clone also had an Activate.
I cant wait to try scarlet spider with Namora. It doesnt change how the deck is played at all just added power
That's my first home for him too. Just sooooo much clog in the game right now

I can see where you see this however knowing whats to come makes me think think this card is better than people give it credit for during the next season where I could see some sort of discard deck with daken, scarlet spider, arana and scorn
History has shown us that a good tempo card never fails (Speed, Copycat, Cassandra, etc).
Considering Scarlet Spider is generally a 4/10 that can be played on curve, it’s very hard to imagine he’ll be a miss.
Also, he seems to be the first tempo 4-cost card that doesn’t need any synergies with other cards, so I’m curious to see how he will perform.
And for his synergies with SSM, I guess it’s a NO cause SD already said that every Activate card can only be triggered once in a match.
Honestly expected some variation of a Scarlet Shuri deck. That sounds like such a good idea to me. Or a smooth, and sort of ironic, Madame Scarlet deck to always be able to guarantee you will get a certain 4/10 in one location every-time. Plop down Scarlet in Madame’s Ongoing, and adapt to which location the clone jumps to, for no cost.
What sucks is that it is yet another week where I have the other two cards. :/
Thanks man, just started a week ago. An was wondering about the spotlights. Having fun with a discard ghost rider deck. Been fun because people aren’t expecting 3 -6 cost cards (sometimes). Still can win with 2 most game because people expect apocalypse.

Really nice breakdown! I am excited about scarlet spider. A 4/10 is always nice! Also nostalgia! Am I the only one who enjoyed the clone saga in comics? (controversial)
Loved the clone saga. I know it gets a lot of flack, but it was my first comic event and holds a special place in my heart

This guy just too good, must buy, work great in multi deck, especially lock down, Sandman one, C5 too.
Hell Cow activate is broken with how much Hela we’re seeing… And that speaks to how when Activate is on a 4 cost card you really have to WANT to activate the condition late only. Scarlet Spider could fall into this category, particularly in the Namora build you highlighted where waiting to activate Scarlet Spider is optimized after one or more triggers of Namora. I want to see more decks that work best where Scarlet Spider is activated late as right now it seems a bit niche. Great content as always @Docty!
It doesn’t work with namora because you need to play ssm or wong on four
You also don’t have space in your deck to run an extra four because playing him
Would require zabu as well
You don’t need nightcrawler per se - however you don’t have space for two
Also your white tiger Odin plan is stronger than scarlet clone plan
Namora and white tiger are also your backup plans versus ssm / Wong black panther
I ran ssm only to infinite during the league and took first place in my league ~6k infinite (although stopped there - not going to grind infinite)
I doubt scarlet is good card - I can say it certainly isn’t a Namora card though
Classic SD. Make a card no one asked to buff a factor in an already strong deck. No one was saying "Hela is weak!!" 😂
In the namora deck I think he could benefit a lot more from magik or psylock for tempo, better than nightcrawler since you can wong namora odin and then split or other combos with ssm, etc. Also Ill add Araña

I've actually had pretty good luck with C5. With Hydro Bob, Doom, etc. I think this card takes it to the next level. Like if the best Cerbro 5 deck is a 7/10 this makes it a 8/10.
I agree - if you're already playing c5 then SS for sure makes it better.
Is it just me, or did this season go from every content creator saying something like “best season ever - op cards” and then we get (1) Symbiote - decent, but nothing incredible or even near that (2) Madame - good, but not insane (3) Arana - Not bad, but less impressive than we thought and (4) scarlet - probably fine/good but nothing insane?

I think it's been a very balanced season - nothing OP and nothing horrible.
However, many of the cards were new and unknown which gave them the potential to be OP or horrible depending on how well Second Dinner gauged the new mechanics - and they hit the mark at a nice level.
@@docty_snap Yup! Not complaining i think all cards have been pretty okay, just a funny difference between some prerelease hype that was a tad overblown from other creators vs the reality being “not bad!” now haha
Turn 1: Play Arana
Turn 2: Play Zabu
Turn 3: Play Symbiote Spider
Turn 4: Activate Arana, Play Scarlet Spider, Scarlet will move the original copy to Symbiote Spider location.
Turn 5: Activate Scarlet Spider and create a clone. Activate Symbiote Spider which have the activate abilities of Scarlet Spider. Play whatever in your hands.
Turn 6: Free turn
It's not optimal but you have played all the activate cards.
So I believe it was shown in a few videos that Symbiote Spidey doesn't reactivate activated cards. It might be able to on cards that have not activate yet. So Scarlet on SSM and activate SSM but not Scarlet. That might let you activate it. But there's a few videos out on Arana where they activate her on SSM into her lane, activate SSM to consume Arana, then next turn they see that they don't have the option to activate the SSM/Arana ability.
Araña affects the next card played, not the last card played, so the plan wouldn't work even if Symbiote Spider-Man allowed you to reactivate Scarlet Spider.
@@shadowhamster Oh my bad, I thought it works like that, so just take that out, activate Arana then play Scarlet.
@@ydgmdlu No, it is just right, I did play Symbiote Spider at turn 3 since Zabu and Psylocke enables him, think about it. Let's just say that Symbiote Spider can activate "Activate" cards (which is just a theory of mine) you activate him on turn 6, and play cards in your hand. The card is already at the board on turn 3, why would you need Magik? Of course if Symbiote can't activate the activated effect of Scarlet, he will still consume him on turn 6, no? This post means nothing, I just wanted to pointed out that you can play all the activate cards this way. I did say that it is not optimal and not game winning. Me theorycrafting about Symbiote Spider enabling another activation on Scarlet Spider is just a dream that "what if" he can activate an activate effect again, thinking that would be awesome.
I edited it out so it is more plausible than the last one.
I have a feeling he's going to be the next Namora, which is a sleeper hit that most people will miss.
Definitely not. Everyone will be getting this card, not sure how anyone will miss this, especially with the other cards in spotlight that week
People will buy him because theyre millenials who love the weirdo.
Namora is hardly a sleeper. She gets hard countered by almost anything, ranging from Junk to Destroy to Shadow King or Shang Chi

Kind of feel like you have to buff him and play him in 10’s deck and play skarr and for free with an extra 6 drop on last turn
He could be the worst card this season but Im spending 4 keys this coming week because I just love the character and that White Widow variant is just too good.

I think that's unlikely - it's actually possible that SSM's Activate will negate Scarlet Spider's. We have to wait and see.
Why not Shuri on 4, SS on 5? That’s a 4/20

Scarlet Spider is the most garbage card I've ever seen in the last 2 years of snap. Just a waste of spotlights, avoid. Other 2 cards are also trash. The worst trap I've ever seen in 2 years of playing snap.
Looks like a really mid card to me, there really aren't that many cards that can buff him, i feel like it's just a worse version of Nimrod.
The problem is the 4 cost slot. But SD has to do that because he would be busted in surfer at 3. Surfer breaks design space me thinks and so they can't design multiplicative effects at 3.
